Weight Gain after antidepressants
 

Has anyone has experienced weight gain due to the discontinuation of antidepressants? I was taking 20mg escitalopram and was finally feeling much less anxious, tired, stressed. anyhow i let my prescription run out and i just passed it off, life gets busy....However I put on 30 lbs in the blink of an eye. I just started taking the medication again (yesterday to be exact) 10mg for 2 weeks and then increasing to 20mg from then on. Has anyone else ever experienced weight gain when stopping this medication cold turkey, I should add i have an under active thyroid but I am however at normal levels thanks to levothyroxine.

I also gained a lot of weight after stopping 150 mg daily of sertraline, but who the heck knows why. I kept gaining weight for a few months after I stopped, but it's not clear to me why I got it under control for the most part. I started seeing a therapist, which I think has generally helped me and maybe given me more energy to spend on trying to lose weight, so maybe that helped a bit. I assume you're already seeing a therapist, though.
