Short Temper/Impatient on diet?

  • So I just got back on my "new lifestyle plan", I'm trying to recover from my yo-yo of gaining and losing weight. Anyway, I'm with my trusty Slim Fast diet and about 1 1/2 weeks in (NO cheats!) and losing weight but I find I have been even more impatient than normal. I find myself feeling pretty angry most of the time (especially in the afternoon) and I catch myself scowling every now and then LOL. How do I stop this? It's especially hard as I am a single mother and it's the summer time so I don't want to feel like I'm taking out my diet on the kids. Any suggestions?

If it matters, I only take vitamins. No medications of any kind. I don't drink or smoke or anything like that.

    Thanks!
  • I had a similar reaction when I put myself on what turned out to be too strict of a diet. I cut out almost all sugar and all dairy and was eating primarily veggies. I was so grumpy that I was snapping at people left and right. As soon as I decided it was too insane to stick with and had some pizza, my mood picked right up.

Are you sure it's not too strict for you? I'm not sure what you're actually doing but that's what you reminded me of.
  • Thanks I was thinking maybe that's it although I haven't exactly been too sad about being on a diet as I'm happy to see the scale going down again. I've been eating around 1400 cal/day lots of veggies and drinking water.
