Mustang, great job! You are my hero.

I'm afraid I'm still letting my bad news about the job and fear of what's to become of my future get in my way. I know that working out could change everything but so far I'm just sulking and hiding. I hope I can turn that around.

I hope that others will join us too.

Vermont, you should join us since you work out religiously anyway...

Thanks! My body was feeling great but then I weighed myself today and I didn't lose any weight all week. I make a point of only weighing myself once a week so I can see real change so it was a bit defeating to see that it stayed the same - i ate incredibly well all week and did lots of exercise.

GEM ~ August weight challenge. Great idea!
I gained 3 # this week. Does having a birthday party at Olive Garden count as an excuse? No? I know that I should have planned better before celebrating.
I will set up my August exercise chart soon, but I'm off to dental hygenist this AM and mammogram this afternoon...such fun.

Katie, don't get discouraged. Everytime I diet by eating right and exercising (which is the best way in my opinion) the scale moves very slowly for me too. The difference is that I can wear much smaller sizes at higher weights. The last time I did I was in a size at one weight that I used to wear at 20 lbs lower. I looked much better in that size too because I was more toned. Try measuring your clothing sizes as well as the scale. It's hard though I know because we always want to see the scale move more than anything.

Muscle weighs a lot more than fat. Chances are, you lost fat and built up lean mass, especially if you do strength training daily. While it doesn't show on the scale, your measurements will confirm it. In time, the extra muscle mass will burn a lot more calories than fat would, so it's a win-win situation Your clothing size and how it fits will be more reliable than the scale weight.

Also, many factors can influence the weight on the scale: time of day, time of the month, water retention, last bathroom trip, clothes you are wearing. These can fluctuate the weight by a few pounds. Weighing yourself post-exercise can also make the scale go up, some people have experienced that issue.

Don't let that get you down!

Thanks ladies! I'm trying not to get too discouraged. My fiance says he can see my body changing, even though the scale is being a jerk.

Good luck with the C25K!!! I can't wait to start, my man wants me to wait for him to get back to start it with him... (I may start without him just so I can show off when he gets back )
