has anyone recently finished with medication?
 

Hi,

I recently (with my doctor's approval) have finished taking the antidepressant Serzone. I had been on it for three and a half years for post partum depression. I'm feeling good, but am still having trouble sleeping. I fall asleep fine, but a lot of nights wake up from two to three am or so. I've seen many episodes of All in the Family on Nick at Nite :)

I think that the Serzone put me into a deeper sleep, now that I am off it I'm a lighter sleeper. The lack of sleep is making me cranky and tired (I sound like a toddler, don't I)

Any suggestions? I DO NOT want any more medication. Does this wear off after my body adjust to being off the medication?

When I stopped taking Paxil, I had some sleeplessness too. (and *bizarre* dreams) I take Benedryl when i can't sleep, now. My doctor said it's non-addicitive, and I haven't found that I need to rely on it. Just some nights, it helps. It knocks me flat.

Of course, that's just another medication, really. I'm sorry I don't have any better suggestions. Scotch and soda? (kidding!) I've had trouble sleeping my whole life. I wouldn't be too surprised if you get back to your normal sleep habits after a while.
