Crying at Work
So, I have been happily married for four years now. I found out yesterday afternoon that the guy who broke my heart in college got married (a year or so ago, I'm guessing) to the girl he dated after me. I only found this out as part of research to write a funny blog post about Googling people you hate. I had a good laugh about it. But then, last night, for some reason, it hit me. Like, it REALLY hit me hard. I am confused as to why. I don't love the guy any more. It's not like his wife was some model-hot girl, either. I make more money than the guy, and probably more than his wife. But it triggered something in me that started me crying last night and then I cried the whole way to work and now I've been crying on and off AT work for the last 3 hours. How on earth do I stop these tears? I am MARRIED TO SOMEONE ELSE. I am a (theoretically) bad-@$$ career woman. This is SO embarrassing and undignified. Who weeps over an ex when they've been happily married for four years??? :o

Do not feel bad...was this your first love? My first love got engaged and I balled my eyes put even tho we have been broken up for almost two years. He also broke my heart and I have been over him but for me I think because he was my "first " the first cut that that's why it hurt a Lil to find out he was engaged...I think its normal and a lot of us do it...but if you continue to feel this way it might not be good. Lol I was upset over my ex being engaged for like two days then was over it...hang in there

Yep, first love.

There you go. First love's hurt the hardest. But don't worry -- let it run its course and you will feel better.

I already do, thanks. Man, that was embarrassing.

I still cry over my ex. I was 26 when I met him and never loved anyone the way I loved him..we have been broken up for 2 years and I even had a one year relationship with someone else(yeah, THAT didn't work). But for some reason, it still gets to me.

It doesn't have to make sense to be sad-so don't beat yourself up over teh illogical side of this. I know how you feel.
As for the crying at work thing- I don't really have much advice except a quick bathroom cry (as quiet as possible) and getting really involved in a work project. Has helped me a few times in my office. Finally- please feel better!!! It will pass. |
