Question on Paxil, still depressed...any suggestions for additional med?

Ive been on Paxil 40 mg for 10 yrs for anxiety and depression. It pretty much controls my anxiety most of the time, but lately the depression has worsened. Does anybody have any suggestions for something to take along with the Paxil, to aide in helping the depression?

If your current meds aren't working the way you'd like, it's time to talk to your doc (or psychiatrist, whoever prescribed the Paxil) about switching or adding something else. Only someone with your medical history and info can really advise you about what approaches might be best for you at this point.

I agree with manda...talk to your prescribing doctor. Paxil did not work for me so I spoke with my doc and she switched me to Cymbalta. I love it.

My younger sister recently started on Paxil for her anxiety/depression and is going to be talking to her doctor this week about being put on Zoloft as well. She was on Zoloft for a few months last year and did really well on it. However, like others have said, only you and your doctor can come up with what will work best for you.

I wish you luck for your appt tomorrow!

I am on xanax for anxiety.
I no longer take depression meds Because it helps with both for me BUT
Maybe you need to ask the doc about some anxiety medicine to add to the depression meds. They usually give both together and it works great. I know people who do well on both combined.
Because your anxiety can cause alot of the depression.
Once I was started on the anxiety meds My depression is minimum

Hi! I am new here. I take both Wellbutrin and Cymbalta. Wellbutrin will increase your libido (woo-HOO) and also help you stop smoking (if you smoke and want to quit). I stopped smoking cold-turkey after being on Wellbutrin for 3 months, after trying for 30 years to quit. It's been 6 1/2 years now. Good luck and let us know how this works for you. ;-)

I was Okay on Paxil for a while. I take it to zone out the liars at work, otherwise I would quit. Unfortunately, the lies are getting worse and the drugs do not seem to work as well.

I've been on Paxil for almost 10 years now, too. I'm on 30mg for Panic Disorder. I'm thinking about combining it with Wellbutrin. Does anyone have first hand stories of that combo working well for them?
