Well I thought Celexa and Lexapro were basically the same thing but Lexapro was the new version... I was just switched from Celexa to Lexapro. I was on Celexa for around 6 or 7 years. They also just added Topamax.... but I haven't seen a bit change yet.

Celexa is much like Lexapro.
Celexa i've been told is more calming, and Lexapro is more energizing.
So i take Lexapro 10mg in the am, and Celexa 40mg pm.
I was on Topamax for a little while, it helped with my appetite, and sleeping, but then i started getting side effects i didn't like....like not being able to concentrate during the day.........a dazed feeling...so i went off.
I also take .5 Klonapin at night, and sometimes take another .5 mid day to help with anxiety.
I hope you are doing well

I was on Celexa, however started to get tremors , where my whole body would shake , going from 20 seconds , to 5 mins. It made it hard to walk, and I was very scared on steps. Don't mean to scare you, as my doctor told me it was a very rare side effect, however I just stopped talking the pills. I havn't tried any others , as I have been off the pills for over 6 months but still randomly get the tremors every once and while, mainly when I'm really pushing my body.

It doesn't make any sense to be on both at the same time - they're both the same drug, just released differently.

The difference between Celexa (citalopram) and Lexapro (escitalopram) is in their chemical mixture. Ok, here goes...there are chemicals known as stereo isomers-- these are molecules that have the same molecular formula but differ in the three dimensional orientations of their atoms in space.

Celexa is a mixture of two isomers: S-(+)-citalopram and R-(−)-citalopram. [The + and - signs refer to the orientation of the chemicals in space]. Only the S-(+) enantiomer has the desired anti-depressant effect.

Lexapro is only the S-(+) form. The drug company spill is that having only the S-(+) form decreases the side effect profile of the medication. Drug companies will frequently patent the mixture first, then release the "updated" version when that patent runs out.

The other two famous drugs like this are Prilosec and Nexium.

Hope this helps!

Lexapro may contribute to weight gain. Of all antidepressants, Wellbutrin (bupropion) has the most potency to promote weight loss. You may discuss with your doctor if you will benefit from lexapro antidepressantscomparison.com

I've been on Lexapro since June of 2009 and I never found that it made me more energized but it did help with my anxiety. I have gained about 20 pounds though since I started taking it.

I have been on Celexa for 2 months and can't stop sleeping, lol. I was ok with 10mg in the beginning, but once I got to 20mg it was 12-16 hours sleeping without feeling rested when I woke up. Plus, couldn't lose weight on it despite trying.

Of course, others might do well with it, but Celexa didn't work well with me at all.

They are completely different

Lexapro is a a left-enantiomer of celexa and is far superior..

They are chemical reflections of one another and this produces different affect.. reading about all this stuff just makes me realise it's all trial and error ..
