It's not just those with hypothyroid that is effected with this.

My dtr was 220 at 5ft. She went to see a Doc that did blood work then called her and put her on Glucophage/metformin. It stablized her insulin levels and she dropped 30 lbs over night. Quckly. She continues to lose and uses the medication.

I had the test today. We'll see. If it's high I'll start the meds too

Any I'm a big believer in this. I'm kind of excited to see what mine says tomorrow.

My mum was on a dose of cipralex... she gained alot of weight, but when stopped its dropping off her!
I've just been started on citalopram and aripiprazole (what the giddy nora! sent me loopy last night.) and scared of gaining what ive tried so bloomin hard to loose!! it says its possible to gain weight, but id really like to avoid it if possible.

I am new to 3 Fat Chicks and thought this would be a good place to jump in. I took Paxil for about 5 years. I gained about 40 pounds in that period of time. It really worked well for me otherwise. I thought I was feeling better and was weaned off. About 1 year later I was back to square one with anxiety, depression and ocd. My doctor put me on Effexor XR and so far so good. Only minus is that I have gained weight again. Also, just started WW meetings so hopefully it will help.

I gained 50lbs on Zoloft and about 20lbs on Risperdal (which you won't need as it's an antipsychotic but they all pretty much cause weight gain). These are the only two which caused me to gain weight.
