Celexa Side Effects
Has anyone taking Celexa experienced side effects such as numbness or tingling in the hands, feet or legs? If so, did it go away with time? Has anyone experienced any other negative side effects.
The medicine has really helped with depression, but I, along with the prescribing nurse, am waiting to see if these side effects go away soon. |
I never had that, but I had trouble sleeping the first couple of weeks on it. After that it seemed to be ok. Once I was on it for about 6 months I started having some sexual side effects - - that's when I quit it cold turkey, not something I recommend doing.

Here is the list of side effects you might encounter when you take celexa:
- seizure (convulsions); - tremors, shivering, muscle stiffness or twitching; - problems with balance or coordination; or - agitation, confusion, sweating, fast heartbeat. - feeling nervous, restless, or unable to sit still; - drowsiness, dizziness, trouble concentrating; - sleep problems (insomnia); - nausea, gas, upset stomach, loss of appetite; - weight changes; - urinating more than usual; - decreased sex drive, impotence, or difficulty having an orgasm; or - dry or watery mouth, yawning, or ringing in your ears. |
Thanks everyone for your responses.

I've found that I have major side effects from celexa. I've absolutely gained weight at a faster rate than normal plus the sexual side effects are awful. I don't even want anyone to touch me. Although it has helped with the condition. I'm seriously considering talking to my doc to try other meds.

One thing that did happen with me right away was the appetite control. I was not nearly as hungry with Celexa and it also helped a lot with the depression, but the other side effects just make it not worth it.

How long have you been on celexa? Sometimes it can take up to 12 weeks for side effects to go away. I'm on Lexapro and I had some tingling also. My feet and hands used to go numb, but eventually it went away.
good luck and keep us posted |

I've been on it for about 18 months now. Most of my side effects resolved themselves in a couple of months as well.
