Weekly Chat - Jan. 14th - 20th

Okay I will start the new thread. I hope that is ok??

Just wanted to post and be honest and say that I am not doing well right now, just struggling, as I know we all have at one time or another, but I think this time its a good thing, as it has made me aware of things that I needed to be aware of.

So anyways, I just wanted to be honest.

I hope you all have a Wonderful Week!!!

HeatherAngel 01-14-2008 09:22 AM

Morning!

Sassy - thanks for starting the thread! Of course it's fine - and we all struggle, indeed... and it's WONDERFUL to look at the positive in it - that you can identify where you need to spend some time on YOU.

Hope - way to go getting all those Xmas decorations down - that's great! And how nice that your FIL was pleased with the house - must make you feel good! Keep up the healthy eating - you know you'll feel awesome as a result!! :carrot:

Okay folks - I have no news - you've all been marvelously supportive and I LOVE YOU ALL (even though it's the internet and all that, I cannot imagine being without you chicks!), and the whole 100lbs embarrasses me, but thank you all the same. :o :grouphug:

Today I am going to do a few little jobs I've been procrastinating - my quaker parrot needs to have his cage scrubbed, and then I'll try to get a run in... and then some errands. Nothing exciting. OH! We did get snow overnight, so this is good - can get back to the ski hill, maybe even tonight!

Have a wonderful Monday, all!!

Heather :D

buddly 01-14-2008 05:15 PM

Hello everyone!

Just popping in to say Hi!
Nothing exciting planned. We are just waiting for the furnace guy. Thankfully its not very cold but boy has it been snowing and blowing! Heather I'd gladly send some snow your way if I could. We are suppose to go above freezing on Wed, that should make the roads interesting.
ddA is happy with all the walking she is doing at school is finally getting her numbers down. I'm staying the same, at least its not going up.
Sassy I hope you feel better soon

Well I should go and do something. ddA is baking cookies to heat up the kitchen, so at least it will smell nice when the guy gets here!

Take care everyone and have a wonderful week,
K

Sassy_Chick 01-14-2008 11:42 PM

Hi Chicks..

Hi Chicks!!!

Well I feel much better today. I guess I just had a blue weekend for some reason.

Anywho, trying to stay positive, even though yes I know at times that is hard to do, but I'm ok...........;)

Heather -- TY. I hope you got your little jobs completed. :) We got some snow lastnight too, not a lot, but some. Supposed to get more tonight.

Buddly -- TY. We just had our furnance fixed, the heat pump went out, luckily it went out while it was warm, so I hope yours got fixed!!! :)

Well that is about it for now, again I appreciate all the support!!! You Gals Rock!!! :cheer:

buddly 01-15-2008 12:19 AM

Hey there,
Glad you are feeling a bit better Sassy. Yes we got the furnace fixed. The bill was a bit of a shocker, especially when the guy comes back with "I hope you have a strong heart" The part alone was $311. But it seems to be working now. Thankfully its not that cold, but it feels damp. Anyway its a nice clear night out there now. Just have to clear up the dinner dishes and then its off to bed to read.

Take care now,
K

Moosegirl 01-15-2008 03:53 AM

Hello all, I did post in the last weekly thread and totally didn’t notice it ended on 13th! Now I know why I need my eyes tested…

Sassy – Hang on in there things will get better I am sure…

HeatherAngel – Wow such a good weight loss… no wonder you feel good for healthy eating. Although in just a few months I too feel a big difference since I changed my diet!

Buddly – Please send me some snow…

HeatherAngel 01-15-2008 09:27 AM

Morning, chickies! Where's our Leenie this week?? And Hope? :grouphug:

No news here - have to finish the rest of the 'little jobbies' that I didn't complete yesterday - I am doing a jigsaw puzzle that my dad gave me for Christmas - I haven't done of these for YEARS! It's very addictive, and not very conducive to getting my butt moving!! :lol3:

Have a great day - Buddly, rotten luck about the bill, but at least you're not freezing! ;) Sassy - so glad to hear today is a better day! Raven - we've all done that - and you found your way here - that's what's important! ;)

Heather :D

cathyxxx 01-15-2008 09:56 AM

good morning gang

did anybody see Oprah yesterday, with Bob Greene and the best life challenge? it sure was inspiring to see people after they have lost so much weight! I mean I get to feeling down bec I weigh 190 and it seems overwhelming (or just too dang hard) for me to get another 10 or 20 lbs off. I have struggled with my weight all my life and I have a thyroid problem that seems to fight my metabolism every step of the way and it is just slow slow slow for me - even when I'm doing everything right - which isn't all the time like it should be. anyway, watching that show made me stop and realize that I'm not so bad - I don't have a whole person to lose - and it's not about a diet but a lifestyle. I know all of that but sometimes I just need a reminder ya know. ;) I think that I'm just a little panicky as I get closer to going to Hawaii with my sis the first week of March. I was hoping to lose another 10 lbs before we leave and I know better than to set number goals like that for myself - the only goals I can really set are things like drinking my water, eating healthy, keeping my calories around 1200, and walking walking walking. Focusing on the number on my scale always set me up for failure, and that's not who I am ;)

anywho.....I'm rambling :dizzy:

Hey Moosegirl - It's good to see ya again! how have you changed your diet? tell us what you're doing when you have time.

Hey Heather - it would be a little hard to run and work a jigsaw puzzle at the same time ;) pieces would be flying everywhere. if you don't mind talking about it....why does the 100 lb loss embarrass you?

Hey Sassy - glad you were feeling better yesterday! and I hope it's even better today :) remind me - do you live in the cold where the weather might affect your mood and give you a blue weekend?

Hey Buddly - I'm so glad you got your furnace fixed. sorry the bill was so high. I can't staying below freezing for several days bec here in Louisiana that rarely happens that we stay below freezing. Usually by the afternoon it warms up. stay warm

Hey Leenie - where are ya girlie? busy at work huh? I can certainly relate.....hope all is well.

I didn't get in my exercise this morning or yesterday either, but I'm aiming for tomorrow morning at 5 am.

hope everybody has a blessed day!
hugs,
Cathy

Leenie 01-15-2008 10:31 AM

Busy busy busy bzzzzzzzzzzz.... talk later taters.

CINCIGIRL 01-15-2008 10:55 AM

Speaking of depression... I was prescribed Zoloft a couple of years ago. I gained about 60 pounds in one year without any changes in eating habits. Have you heard of this? I quit taking the medication and it seems to make a difference. The weight just gave me more to be depressed about !!!

hope4me 01-15-2008 01:39 PM

hi girls,

I'm waiting on the cable guy to show up any minute. Thought I would check in quickly.

I was on Zoloft for a couple of years and it worked well for me. I didn't notice any weight gain, but every med effects everybody differently.

There he is! Gotta go!

hope4me 01-15-2008 03:08 PM

:comp: OK, I'm back. I wanted to say also that I was eating so much that I wouldn't have been able to tell if the Zoloft was causing any gain or not. Unfortunately, I'm either 'dieting or eating on plan' or eating everything in sight.

The eating is still going pretty well this week. Again it's not strictly on plan, but much improved. I'm working on my all or nothing mentality. ;)

Tonight is pool league so at least I have something to do. I just have to avoid the yummy burgers and french fries they have there. :cbg:

Have a great day everybody!

hellsbelle 01-15-2008 04:15 PM

Hi, everyone. I just found this board again after a VERY long absence. I have been on Symbyax for a few months now, and I have gained a LOT of weight. I have just started the "Best Life" program and am looking forward to becoming healthier. It is nice to know others who understand.

Meshell

HeatherAngel 01-16-2008 09:38 AM

Morning, chicks! Hope, Leenie - great to see you!!

Cincigirl and Hellsbelle - :welcome:!

Quiet day for me today, might go skating, get some groceries... nothing too taxing! ;)

Cathy - it's very hard for me to accept I can succeed at anything, and people's overwhelming response to my weight loss so far really does embarrass me. I have NO idea what to do with compliments, with success, with being this person. I know the fat girl well - I hated her, but I knew who she was. This girl? This one who is careful about what she eats, who is focused, who RUNS for heaven's sake? Who is SHE? When will she give up and show herself as the fraud I believe her to be? I know it is linked to depression, and it IS getting easier, as I get 'better', but I was the same way all through my postgrad work: I went to Oxford, and spent my whole time there waiting for someone to say to me "What the heck are YOU doing here? We made a mistake - you don't belong here!" I feel the same about losing weight.

I do not recognize it as an achievement, and that's why I posted the pictures - I see a counselor, and she thinks my body image is SO skewed I must find ways to acknowledge how far I have come. It's hard for me - I cried reading people's responses. I don't know how to tell people "There is nothing special about me - yes, I'm doing THIS, but it is not who I am, just something I'm doing - and you can do it, TOO!"

So, there's my honesty purge for the day. :) Hope everyone is having a good mid-week!

Heather :D

cathyxxx 01-16-2008 12:12 PM

good morning gang

even tho i was up past midnight last night, i still got up early and did 2 miles, mainly bec i had posted here that that was my plan. accountability ya know ;)

Heather - thank you so very much for explaining. I appreciate your honesty and I respect you for sharing!!! you are so right - it is linked to depression - I have spoken to several with depression who feel that when they look good or feel good that that is not who they really are - that the negative & depressed stuff is who they are and is just waiting to creep back up. funny how they don't realize that the negative & depressed stuff is the REAL fraud!!!! I hope I'm making sense - I know what I'm saying but not sure it's coming across right ;)

For the record - in my opinion - you ARE very special! and I hope that one day soon you will be able to see that too!

ok - I'm stepping down off my soap box for the day ;)

hope everybody is having a great day!

hugs,
Cathy

Sassy_Chick 01-17-2008 02:07 AM

Hi Chicks.

Hey all.

 Remember me? :^: lol. I'm still around, just ending my work week -- only 5 hours more to go...........sounds so long.........but I have 8 hrs down. lol.

I feel better, tired, but that is just because its my "Friday" and I'm always tired by now. lol.

Cathy -- I live in OH, where the weather changes like a pregnant ladies mood. lol. But yes we do get cold weather, but I've always lived in this climate so I should be used to it. I dunno, it could be just old age. lol.

Buddly -- Glad your heat is fixed. Ours is so much warmer now..

Heather -- You are so very special and such a true inspiration to those of still trying to lose and feeling like we're failures (at least that is how I feel).

Hi Leenie -- Bye Leenie. lol

:welcome2: Cincigirl and Hellsbelle

Exercising Tip: Be Careful!!! :lifter: A co-worker of mine was off for two nights and may have to have surgery because he may have tore a ligament and he did it from working out. So be careful everybody! :)

As for me, no exercise yet I'm afraid. But I know it will come......lol.

Well that is about all......

Take care all!!!

Leenie 01-17-2008 08:29 AM

Catch up with you all soon...maybe tomorrow *GIGGLE*

cathyxxx 01-17-2008 11:17 AM

good morning gang

I did 3 fast miles this morning before scurrying to get ready for work ;)

I've got tons of paperwork to do today but wanted to pop in and say HELLO

hope everybody has a blessed day!
hugs,
Cathy

buddly 01-17-2008 01:48 PM

Just popping in to Hi all!

No changes around here, except its nice and warm in the house:D ddB is home from school today with a migraine and I already took ddA to her school. We actually have sunshine today which is so nice compared to what they were calling for.

Anyway I should head off and get something done around here. A pot with water in it spilled in between the wall and the stove so I have the dubious honour of pulling out the stove and cleaning under there today. I know it needs it, but yuck!

Take care everyone and have a great day,
K

hope4me 01-17-2008 02:16 PM

Awww... sorry Buddly, that sucks. But if you're like me, it almost takes something like that to make me do a job like that.

Well... for the first time in a year? or so I have good news on the weight loss front... I'm down 5 lbs this week! :carrot: Week one losses are great. I really need to focus on incorporating exercise in this week. If I am to be honest though, I'm really wondering if this will last. I don't trust myself in the slightest. As you all know, losing a significant amount of weight takes a certain mind-set that you have to keep for a LONG time. I'm not sure I'm mentally there yet. I'm going to try get it and keep it though. I'm getting to the age where it is as much for my health as it is for the cute clothes. (I'm sick of Grandma fashions!)

We actually got a little snow this morning!:shocksn: As you all know I have been coveting your massive snowfalls you all have enjoyed (or not ;) ).
Makes for a cozy day!

How are y'all today?

Amarie2pt0 01-17-2008 05:17 PM

Hi there:wave: I thought I'd join in if thats alright :)

I'm Amarie, and I've been here before (eons ago) and am back now :) I think this chat is the right place for me on here, as my struggles with depression are a big part of why I'm here. I've been doing very well since my doc put me on prozac, although right now PMS is sort of eating away my prozac-induced zen. :dizzy:

I'm also really struggling with being in a good place because not everyone around me is :(. My sister is really in a tough spot right now, and I see so much of what I've gone through in her struggles and want to tell her how to fix it but I can't. My relationship with her is such that my suggesting something to her would just make her reject it as an option, and I don't want her to close the door on the possibility. Anyway, I see how much pain she's in, and feel guilty because I'm not there anymore.

Hope - I really relate to a couple of your posts in here. Unfortunately for me in the past I have certainly typified the on plan vs. eating everything in sight, I'm trying to work on that.

Buddly - :lol:The stove! Oh I am sorry, that is one of my least favorite places to clean. I once had a sauce-pan of cranberry juice boil over and pour all down between my stove and cabinets. Wasn't that just the most fun! I'm glad yours was water.

Heather - Thank you so much for your honesty. Your post about struggling with feeling like a fraud really touched me, especially about your post-grad work. I've applied to grad school, and am struggling with being realistic about my expectations. Rationally I know I'm a good candidate, but I'm just so convinced the admissions committees are going to see my app and laugh - that they're just not going to want me in their program. Then the other part of me is petrified that I'll get an interview but they'll think I'm stupid because I'm overweight. Sigh.

It was lovely to make all of your aquaintance. I try to come on here frequently for the support - I'll pop in here to say hello!

Amarie

HeatherAngel 01-18-2008 09:21 AM

Morning all!

:welcome: Amarie!

No time today - don't know how these errands caught up with me, and I just want to sit on my computer! :lol3: Chat later!!

Heather :D

cathyxxx 01-18-2008 09:29 AM

good morning gang

I did 2 more miles this morning :running: it feels so good to get it done :)

I've got to do payroll this morning and try to get back to my year end paperwork.

:welcome2: Amarie - I'm glad you're here!

hope everybody has a blessed day!
hugs,
Cathy

Amarie2pt0 01-18-2008 02:06 PM

Hiya all:

Cathy - 2 miles in the am? You are my hero of the day! Where do you like to walk?

I'm an evening walker myself - I have two furry little puplets that keep me motivated. Last night by the time I was home my cocker looked like an abominable snow dog! It was so cute. It snowed through the night and this morning - I shoveled my walk 3 times before I went to work as it was coming down pretty fast. This doesn't bode well for my walk tonight, but oh well... at least it will be pretty!

Hugs all - hope you have a wonderful day!

Amarie

cathyxxx 01-18-2008 03:21 PM

Hey Amarie - If I have to exercise (and I do have to) then walking :running: is my favorite exercise.

I like to walk our 2 mile block or at a couple of walking parks that we have around the area, BUT that's not where I'm walking in the mornings ;) I actually walk in front of my tv with Leslie Sansone. the only time I can get in my walking is at 5 am so I use her walking dvds to get it in. I have a bunch of them for variety so I don't get bored and her new Walk Slim series is really fast paced - especially at 5 am ;)

buddly 01-18-2008 04:00 PM

Hi all!!

Snowing here as well, actually we have a heavy snowfall warning. And this morning as I was trying to back out of our driveway to take ddA to school, I couldn't see out the windows very well and I went straight off the driveway and into the snow. So I'm stuck again! This is getting old as this is the third time this winter:dizzy: Thankfully ddA just had one lab today so its not a big deal to miss and hubby is coming through town tonight so he should be able to pull me out if the girls and I can't push it out when the other two get home. I know I didn't really want to go to town, but this is a little excessive. At least we are at home.

Amarie I'm glad I just spilled water especially compared to cranberry juice, eww talk about sticky!

Cathy I admire your dedication on getting your walks in. I have all day usually and I just can't remember to walk in and turn on the treadmill, and I wonder why the scale doesn't go down, hmmm;)

Take it easy Heather with all your errands. To be honest all I want to do today is curl up with my book, but I know I have a lot of things I should do, so instead I'm procrastinating at the computer.

Well my lunch is hot so I'm going to eat and hopefully warm up. Never got breakfast in this morning so I'm cold.

Take care all and have a great day,
K

hope4me 01-18-2008 04:37 PM

Today is almost over and I haven't done anything much to speak of. Can't seem to get motivated to do 'house stuff'. I need to clean out my spare room so I can put the elliptical and exercise bike in there and do something crazy, like use them! :chin: What a crazy idea!
I need to channel my 'inner Cathy' :tread:

Buddly, still getting my snow I see. There is a slight chance for flurries tomorrow here. :crossed:

Amarie: Besides the cocker, what kind of dog do you have?

Howz everybody else?

Amarie2pt0 01-18-2008 06:49 PM

buddly - Oh no, the car! I agree that is a very excessive way to avoid running into town  Let us know how you and your girls do with the removal.

hope - I actually have 3 dogs :D, the other two are mutts from the pound. I just don't walk my old girl anymore - I tried last week and ended up carrying all 45 pounds of her silly shepard-cross self the last block home. Now there's a workout. Snow flurries in VA? The last time I lived in VA, they actually shut the town down because...wait for it...they ran out of salt  and couldn't salt the roads. Gosh, I hadn't thought of that in a while.

cathy - I have heard of the Leslie Sansone DVDs, maybe someday I'll actually try them! 5am is AMAZING. heck, anything short of a coma would be fast-paced for me at that hour.

heather - hope the errands went well!

I will check back in with y'all on Monday! Have a great weekend.

cathyxxx 01-18-2008 11:42 PM

y'all are soooooooooo cute! ;) ;) ;)

Sassy_Chick 01-19-2008 01:32 AM

Nobody even responded to my post. I'm totally crushed.........

Just jokin.........lol. :joker:

I hope you all are well.........

Leenie 01-19-2008 08:33 AM

Good Morning My Sweet Friends,

I'm sorry I couldn't post this week, things got so hairy at work and I was so sick with this cold that the days all melded into one big loooooong drag. Mentally I feel better today but I'm still coughing like crazy.

Today we have Karate and a birthday party for my DD's classmate...twins lol. Then its off to the supermarket for food, and of course there will be cooking and cleaning, laundry in between. BTW Its COLD outside...burrr.

Sassy girl, I'm glad you are feeling better.... hey...did you ever consider getting a SAD light to help with the blue feelings? It seems you go in spurts with being blue and this might help get you through the winter months. I'd like to get one but keep putting it off... How's DH?

Cathy... my long time friend. How's DH & the boys? I'm so glad to see you back here posting, I really miss you. You are an inspiration as well...weather you realize it or not. Keep the exercise up... your persistence is going to get my large carcass up one of these days ;)

Heather I know exactly how you feel about losing the weight and the body image you are struggling with. Body image is exactly what did me in. Even at 150 lbs, I saw a fat person. I gave up trying to reach that perfect weight (what ever that was) and thats how I gained 100 lbs back. So....exercising the mind is just as important as exercising the body. Keep working on your body image girl.... you are soooooo beautiful and NOT FAT. Take it from some one who knows and wouldn't BS you. Be proud !!! we are very proud of you.

Amarie welcome, its really great to have you here. Just let me say that these are the sweetest ladies on earth, but I'm sure your realizing that already ;)

Hope LOLOL channel your inner cathy...thats perfect. I get days/weeks where I don't want to clean a thing and then poof.... I'm a whirl wind in my own home. how ya doing today? did you find your inner cathy?

Buddly baby.... I'm so sorry for all that snow, I really don't mind a little snow but after the 3 snow fall ick...i've had enough. Watcha doing this weekend? how are the girls?

Well my fellow Chicklets.... time to make DD breakfast...clean the kitchen and shower because we are off to karate.

Have a blessed day

YOUR ALL SPECIAL

cathyxxx 01-19-2008 01:27 PM

hey gang

Well I gave up on really cleaning house today like I should have (who cares anyway LOL) and just picked up and cleaned what I HAD to, along with washing clothes of course (are there ever no clothes to wash???) and decided to walk instead. :p

I did 3 miles using the Walk Away your Waistline dvd and used the walk belt :carrot:

I am thrilled to say that my scale is finally down another pound this morning. :cp: The scale has has held steady since Thanksgiving and even tho I was thrilled not to have gained during the holidays, I've really been looking for a loss to show up, sometime, somehow, somewhere  so that makes a total of 21 lbs down as of today. It could not be any slower but before finding my thyroid problem all it did was go up and up doing the same things that I'm doing now - so as long as it moves down I can't complain about how long it takes me :dizzy:

Y'all are toooooooo funny with your "inner cathy" comments

Leenie - it's good to see ya! I sure hope you are just about done with that cold!!! it sounds like you have another busy day ahead of you! It's COLD down here in Louisiana so I can NOT even imagine how COLD y'all are! yikes! hope you get to feeling better!!! stay bundled up out there ;) Dh and the guys are GREAT GREAT GREAT! thanks for asking. It's duck hunting season so they are all happy about that :)

Hey Sassy - what ya up to today? are you off this weekend? or having to work? hope all is well.

Well my dryer is buzzing which means I have more clothes to tend to....so off I go.

hope everybody has a blessed day!
hugs,
Cathy

Leenie 01-20-2008 10:54 AM

Good Morning,

Cathy thats awesome you did the 3 mile watp AND AND AND another pound bites the dust :cheer: congratulations. Can you believe my Christmas tree is still up. I don't know when I want to take it down, I just love it.

Well this morning was busy. I've already cooked my dinners for the week and DH's lunch. I chopped up a bunch of zucchini, onions, peppers.... cooked some cauliflower, made mashed potatoes and roasted a chicken and a spiral ham........ I'm Pooped !! with a capital P. Now its laundry time uggggh. lol.

thats about it for me... hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend.

Sassy_Chick 01-20-2008 10:09 PM
