Has anyone else experienced weight gain with Abilify? I've been on and off and on again, and both times I weight on it I've gained weight. It's very frustrating because I know I need it to be healthy mentally but I'm sacrificing my physical health at the same time!! It's a little better this time around since I'm only taking 5 mg at night, but still. I'm frustrated. I think it makes me gain water weight too, but because of all of my meds I can't take diuretics.
Bleh. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks!!
I lost weight when I was on it alone. I put on weight when combined with the depakote. Its one of the more weight neutral ones out there
I take 15 mg and I am still losing inches although my weight loss has somewhat plateaued but I think that is mostly new muscle mass and water retention. My psych doc swears that Abilify doesn't cause weight gain like the other anti-psychotics but I think that the jury in still out on that. Good luck.
Hm, perhaps it's a fluke that it's making me gain weight. I'm not sure. Or maybe it's just circumstantial and there's no real correlation. Huh.
I think weight gain or lose with the help of medicine can prove dangerous for health,You must have some exercise plan.Exercise will also make you sharp which pills can not.Best of loosing weight is exercise.
Nobody is talking about losing weight with medicine, did you see what this forum is about? People who are on medicine for health issues, trying to lose weight as well.
My understanding is that all antidepressants have the potential to increase or decrease appetite and result in weight gain/loss. So one med may be more or less likely to cause certain side effects, but because you're adjusting complicated relationships between neurotransmitters the med may cause weight gain in one person, weight loss in another, and do nothing one way or the other for someone else.
