help finding therapy
 

Hi, been a long time since I've been on the site.

I am experiencing some depression, possibly manic depression and need to find a therapist good at dealing with women's body image issues and relationship counseling as I am rapidly destroying a great relationship with my outbursts.

How do I go about finding a counselor with low rates but close to home? I may also need medication to stabilize my moods. I'm in Southern California and on a tight budget.

CA Association of Marriage and Family Therapists. They allow search by zip code and specialty (ie, body image, which is one of the options). You can then contact the provider for additional information about rates.

Medication will require a doctor or psychiatrist, and will be a separate doctor than the one you're likely to go to for therapy.

Do you have any medical colleges around you? I used to work at a Psychiatry Clinic affiliated with a residency program. They were psychiatrists, just finishing up their residency and worked on a sliding fee scale.
