Pmdd
Okay, I am sure a lot of people have heard about this new thing, PMDD, Premenstrual dysphoric disorder. It's like PMS, but REALLY BAD. It has a lot of the same symptoms of atypical depression does, for about a week and a half before you get your period. Anyway, I was recently diagnosed and wondering if anyone else has heard of it, or even is effected by it.
I get bad. Things get so bad for about a week that I feel as bad as I felt when I was in my worst times of depression. And then there is the eating...my eating patterns change so much. I am convinced the reason I don't lose weight is because I gain anything I lost during the rest of the month back right before my period. Any coping ideas? I'm on wellbutrin now, but I am talking to my doctor about maybe looking into something else. Anyway, if you have been diagnosed with atypical depression, it's the same carb-craving, lack of energy/motivation/everything, horrible in the gutter feelings... |
This is SOOOO weird... I had never heard of this until today, and it was referenced in an article I was reading in the paper, and I thought to myself - I'll have to look that up - it sounds just like me!
And now here it is on the board! Well, I'll reserve judgment until I know more, but it kind of feels like: "FINALLY!!", you know? Heather :D |

Marymaybe - glad the Prozac helps you feel better - finding the right medication is key, IMHO.
