Cook Book

  • I'm on Day 20 for Calorie Counting...and doing okay...I am running of out meal ideas! I have found a new passion for cooking...being we are staying home and eating instead of going out these days.

I want to know what cookbook you would suggest buying that is loaded with GREAT Low Cal/Low Fat Receipes!
  • My favorites so far are:

More Healthy Homestyle Cooking by Evelyn Tribole
    The Essential EatingWell Cookbook
The Food You Crave by Ellie Krieger

Also I love this site www.allrecipes.com

Hope this helps and happy cooking!!!
  • I love the site www.skinnytaste.com

I haven't used any cookbooks, but will be watching this thread!
  • My new favorite cookbook is Appetite for Reduction. Lots of good, filling recipes in it.
  • I like the Mrs. Dash recipes. You can go to the website and they have a ton of recipes u can try that uses Mrs. Dash seasoning. I LOVE that stuff!
  • Have you looked at the Weight Watcher cookbooks? They're all low cal / low fat, and most of the things I've tried are really good.
  • +1 on the Weight Watchers cookbooks. I have some old ones on various ethic cuisines (Italian and Asian) that can hold their own against classics on those cuisines. Have fun!
  • I like the WW cookbooks I have. There's one "From Pantry to Plate" that specializes in recipes that use things you are likely to have on hand. It has saved me in some last minute dinners. Also the biggest loser cookbook has some simple but yummy ideas and recipes in it.
I just bought the "cook yourself thin-faster" book from a bargain book bin and it looks promising.
I'm amazed that they still make cookbooks and food magazines without nutritional content listings. I just canceled a magazine subscription because they never list the calories & other info.
Most recipes can be considered low cal if we keep to the serving size and sub out the offending ingredients. I have eleventy-billion cook books that are not written for healthy eating but are still very suited for it.
  • I just bought the cooking light chicken tonight recipe book and it is very nice. Most of the recipes have pictures which is something that I always looks for. They are also pretty easy and fast to make. I also agree with joy that allrecipes is fantastic. (food porn pics galore)
  • I vote for WW books, too. They have a new one "5 ingredients or less". That's where I found the simple baked chicken breast with salsa. Yum!!
