How Big is Your Slow Cooker?

My old one it getting pretty tired and I think I'd like one that I can put a whole chicken in. Can you? What size is your slow cooker?

I have a big oval one with an insert that comes out, and 3 heat settings...keep warm, low and high. It has a glass lid with a steam hole and a rubber gasaket to keep a nice seal. It is made by Hamilton Beach and I got it at walmart. You could definitely put a whole chicken in it, but not a whole turkey. A legless wingless tureky...breast only...would fit too. With room for veg around the sides. I use mine a lot to cook big batches of meat and veg, then portion them out and just warm up when needed.

Oh boy. I am the slow cooker queen. For Christmas I had five slow cookers going so I didn't have to use my stove or oven and enjoyed my company. I personally own three slow cookers: 5qt, 4qt and 3qt. One can never have too many. My five qt is the most versatile because you can place a bowl in it for casseroles or oatmeal, but I love my 3 qt for making cakes (which of course I don't eat). I guess it depends on the type of food you plan to make. Happy shopping.

I have three slow cookers, too. I use my five qt. for big stuff, it would easily cook a whole chicken. Mostly I use it to take stuff to church for our potlucks, like a potful of meatballs.

I have a three qt. for this and that, cooking meals for DH and I, etc..

I have a mini slow cooker for heating up stuff like soups.

I looooooooove my slow cookers as I have never been a fan of standing over a hot stove cooking something. I can stick stuff in the cooker, turn it on, and forget about it until we are ready to eat.

Same here. The bigger one is bigger than 5 qt, either 5.5 or 6 qt; and the smaller one I used for making steel cut oats - in fact, I will have to turn it off in a minute.:)
