Anyone use a rice cooker?

I had the MOST amazing fluffy brown rice recently at a restaurant and I think it might have been made in a rice cooker.

Has anyone used one for brown rice?
Do you have a recommendation for a good rice cooker in general?

I want one!

I got one at Target for about $15 and it works good...

I use a rice cooker 1-2 times/week. I cook all sorts of grains and even quick cooking beans in it. I got mine from Costco.

I use one and cook brown rice in it. It has "fuzzy logic" so it knows when the rice is done. The instructions say to add a small amount more water when cooking rice than white, and the measuring cup that comes with it is marked for that amount.

Check reviews on Amazon for any rice cookers you are interested in, even if you buy it locally. I was surprised when I read reviews by how many did not cook brown rice well.

So yours does a nice job with brown rice?
I would love if you would share the brand you have.

I LOVE the idea of other grains too!
I wonder if it would do wheatberries. I LOVE them.

We don't have a Costco here..
Would you share what brand you use?

I just cook rice from a pot- it's actually very easy.

All you do is put in for white rice 1 cup rice and 1.5 cups water (obviously multiply these numbers for larger amounts of rice). Then put in my seasoning, salt, whatever, oil if you like. Then boil it, once the water level gets low and these "craters" form in the rice turn off the heat and COVER the pot. Wait 15 minutes at least- then take off the lid and fluff with a fork. You always get perfect rice.

For brown rice I do 1 cup rice and 2 cups water.

I had a rice cooker that was total crap- my rice always came out mushy from it!
