Is TVP allowed?
Does anyone know if textured vegetable protein is allowed on phase I or any of the phases? It is soy bean based and I can't see why it wouldn't be. I'd like to use it to get some soy in my diet and extend my ground beef or chicken further. Thanks

Yes, it is. It's used in one or two vegetarian P1 recipes in the new cookbook. I like to throw a handful of it in soups or stews.

I've always used it
Hi there,
I use TVP on SBD and it works for me. Enjoy! |
I use TVP all the time! I have a really good recipe for Sloppy Joes made with it, my hubby even likes it. Let me know if you want the recipe!

Sure, we read this. Why don't you come over to the main forum (called Fat Chicks on the Beach). Most people come to this one to look for recipes.

Thanks!! |
It's soy - as in Boca Burgers. In Canada it's usually found in the veggie section. It comes in burgers, loose, patties, hot dogs.

You can also find it dry in with the baked goods at Whole foods or another haelth food store. I use the Bob's red mill brand. It says to reconstitue it with water, but instead I add it to a SBD friendly marinara sauce. They also have a website with recipes for their products. I use the Mornigstar or Boca burger crumbles, too. Depending on the sales the dry can be cheaper if you can find it.
