Happy Weekend, chickies! Tonight we're decorating the tree, and the front windows, and trying to make things festive for company. It's still raining (day 4) so we're not going to try to pull out the ladder and do any light hanging on the outside until this clears up, so it might end up a little under-done, but at least we'll have something up. Don't want the neighbors thinking we're the Grinches on the block. ;)

Exercise today was housecleaning, and now decorating. I can't tell you how many circles I've made around the house already- getting my laps in. Food was good- breakfast- sourdough toast w/ a little butter, lunch was leftover spaghetti w/ 2 meatballs, and dinner tonight is undetermined. I did have a few small handfulls of dark chocolate m&ms when we were getting started with the tree. Antioxidants, you know...health food! :D

Hope everyone is having a good weekend! Hugs to all!

MsRD, congrats! I missed you while I was typing!

Go MsRD! Go MsRD!!!! You ROCK!!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

well I didn't get any formal exercise in today. But took my daughter to finish Christmas shopping and then got groceries. Between the mall and Wal-mart we were on our feet moving for about 5 hours. then i came home and my husband took me out for dinner--then trudged me through Wal-mart again.
So I thnk that counts a little. besides my poor feet ache.

Julie--how did weigh in go. I'll stick with the challenge thru the weekend.
I'll do some "formal" exercise tomorrow. Promise.

Elisha--I too have been dealing with IT people at work a lot lately. What a pain. Were you able to fit in any exercise? I know I'll never be able to lose weight unless I keep exercising. I am amazed at the way I make time for it now. I have never been able to do it before. I am almost starting to like it.(honest)

MsRD--sorry I wasn't around to cheer you on. Congratulations on your weight loss. That is teriffic:congrat: Keep up the the good work!!!!

Jennifer--you sure have a lot of Christmas spirit. If it wasn't for my daughter,Shellye, I probably wouldn't even get a tree up. Did you get your lights on outside?

Hope everyone has a nice weekend.
I'll be thinking of you--especially when I'm exercising tomorrow.

It's Sunday morning...I'm being lazy today and haven't done a darned thing except read the paper and make myself a latte! Ahhhh...feels good! Of course, the things Ineed to do are quickly adding up...
laundry, baking (I'll try not to nibble), wrap presents, finish cleaning the upstairs...it just never ends!

Sorry I didn't check in yesterday...I was busy from the time I got up until amost midnight last night...ok I confess...I did go out with the girls last night (our annual Christmas blitz), so there wasn't work involved during some of those hours, but still...am feeling a bit...hung over this morning :o

First of all....WOO HOO on the 2 lbs MsRD!!! Horray!

Angie...glad you kept busy too! Today we are all going for a "family walk" with the dogs and then this afternoon, I will try to get on that bike of mine!

Jennifer...you'll have to take pictures of your decorations! Hope you got it all "festive" looking! Are we all on for some sort of "formal" exercise today???

OK...gotta get moving! Hubby is looming over my shoulder which really annoys me!

MsRD 12-18-2006 10:04 PM

Evening all!

The next 7 days are going to be sooooo hard! :( I really am known for my Christmas baking.....so doing without is not an option, so......I am going to wait until the last posible moment to bake. At least that way, the stuff won't be around the house, tempting me. And I am going to invest in some disposable foil trays......so folks can load them up and take them home. That's the best I can do......anybody got any other ideas?

Jennifer.....Is this your first Christmas in your new house? (I can't remember when you moved) At any rate, from my experience at least, I have found decorating for the holidays to be quite aerobic,:carrot: especially if you have a flight or two of stairs to work into the mix.

Angie.....ANY moving is exercise.....and I would call 5 hours shopping serious exercise!;)

Julie.....I believe the best cure for a hangover is a brisk walk around the block. :p Or not. I am sure just chasing after your DD will bring your around!

The grandkids were here yesterday......absolutely bouncing off the walls with Christmas excitement! And they have a week to go yet! :dizzy: The only thing keeping them in line is 'Santa Claus is watching you'

I did the 1-mile WATP last night and tonight too.....the hardest part is dragging my patootie out of the chair :o But it got done! Are we doing an exercise challenge this week, Julie? I'm in!

angieks 12-18-2006 11:23 PM

MsRD--I know what you mean about the baking. My son (23yrs old) said I'm almost up to the same level as Grandma with the baking. And that's a real compliment. I have so much of the stuff here. I just put it all in Tupperware containers so it is not handy for me. I'm doing pretty well. Eating more than I should, but not so much that it will really hurt me, I hope.

Julie--sounds like you had a good time with the girls. Everybody needs that once in a while. Hope you manage to get in a little "bike" time. It will make you feel good.

I didn't get in any exercise yesterday. My knees and feet hurt from shopping all day the day before. Decided it would be better to take a day off then hurt myself.
I did exercise today. 15 minutes on the eliptical machine. didn't overdo though. My knees feel better.

Tuesday AM

So here's my story:
No, I did not get in any exercise all weekend or yesterday! I am now going into work an hour earlier, which doesn't seem like much, but it sure has put a cramp in "my time" in the mornings! Taht's when I did my exercise...and since going to bed late wasn't a problem, I'm still in that mode, too...sooo I'm not getting up any earlier. This is going to stop, though! I really want to exercise, but with all the Christmas stuff going on at night and during the day at work...I just dont' seem to "make" time! I'm tired after work...you all know the story too well...

Somebody get me that tazer once and for all!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MsRD...Glad you are still exercising! It does help. Your baking goodies sound wonderful. I got the tinfoil tins, also for some fudge I have made. I really don't care to do any other baking and DH asked me last night not ot make anymore peanutbutter fudge...he has eaten almost a whole pan of it!

Angie...I would never have guessed that you have grown children! You suprised me! But hey...I could have grown children at 45, so who am I kidding. Just became a Mom later in life! OH well! Glad your legs are feeling better and that you got in some exercise yesterday! I know it feels good...I just need to DO IT!

Hugs to the rest of you...whereever you are...

miss_elisha 12-19-2006 09:24 AM

OMG, BREAKING NEWS!!!

You all will be SOOO proud of me!

Why?

I EXERCISED last night! A full 30 minutes of DDR! :dancer:

OK, gotta run, I have a meeting to go to right NOW, but I just had to post it!
Haha... I'm such a dork!

I'll try to get back later today to read and make a real post!

I hope you're all doing well!
Elisha

hikein2005 12-20-2006 08:39 AM

Me too!

Elisha...I worked out this morning too...there must be something in the air! 20 minutes WATP!!! Go, Julie!!! Now...do you suppose we could keep this up for the rest of this crazy week??

How about the rest of you? My eating is out of control (mostly the goodies) but it could (and has been) a lot worse! I weighed myself on Monday and lost 1/2 lb from a week ago, so that makes me thrilled that I haven't gained! Of course, we shall see how it goes on weigh in this Friday!

Angie, Jennifer, MsRD...you chickies out there? Let's keep it up, ok? We have to get through these holidays together! I, for one, need you chickies!

**Jennifer** 12-20-2006 04:13 PM

Afternoon, chickies! 1 more hour today, and 8 hours tomorrow, and then that's it for me in 2006, work wise. Although I am trying to cram 2 weeks work into 2 days. Lots of stuff happening- meetings yesterday, and then again this morning. They are taking away our sick time, but giving us short term disability. So, unless I get pregnant next year (which isn't in the plan) I've lost something along the lines of 60 paid days off. Bleah.

Good news is that one of today's meeting was my annual review. Lots of good comments, plenty of positive things. I was the first done, just like last year, so I'm thinking that I'm pretty much the top of the heap again. :D Yay, me. Yeah, I know...tooting my own horn, etc, etc. But my boss tells me that she's got nothing bad she can say. Raises were small because production was down in the whole company, but she did what she could do for me, which was still good, overall.

Going to be sooo busy in the next 2 evenings, getting ready for company, so I will try to pop in tomorrow!

Angie- 5 hours of shopping doesn't just count as exercise, it also qualifies you for sainthood. No lights up yet, since it rained all weekend, and I didn't want hubby in a full body cast for the holidays. We'll have to see if it cooperates on Friday!

Julie- I'm attaching pics tonight just for you! :) Poor Hungover Julie....we'll have to type quietly! :D :D :D

MsRD- Yes, this is the first Christmas in the new house. No stairs, but I tell you, walking around in circles in this big place is enough! ;) LOL @ your hangover cure. :) I know I'm not drinking after that one!

Elisha- you go girl, with your exercise! Kick Butt!

angieks 12-20-2006 09:50 PM

well, I wimped out on exercise yesterday--I'm working 12 hours a day this week while another lady is on vacation and had a nasty day at work --so I skipped the exercise and went to bed early.. So to make up for it I used my eliptical machine for 40 minutes tonight. I am glad I did. I feel so much better.

Jennifer: hey--if you don't toot your own horn--who will? I always love good reviews, too. It sucks when you can't share them with your coworkers though--kinda rub it in that you are better then them. (that wasn't nice, was it?)

Julie, not only do I have a 23 year old son, but a 20 year old daughter -and a 12 year old daughter. You know what--the holidays are so stressfull it is so hard to fit in one more thing--especially when you have to add more time at work. Don't sweat it--there will be plenty of time after the New Year gets here. We'll get you motivated then. We'll have a special challenge--we'll have to think of something.

Elisha--you are right--I am so proud!!! Keep it up!!!!!!

Lets all try to think of a special challenge for the New Year. Something fun.

**Jennifer** 12-21-2006 09:26 AM

Morning, chickies! Last day at work....woo hoo! Already in the vacation mindset, with a lot to do once I get home. My camera wasn't loading on my computer yesterday, so I had to wait & do it from here. So, links to the pictures, because I couldn't re-size them. Anyhow, there's pics of some of the decorations, and some turkey day ones. :)

Today we're supposed to have a "last lunch" with a coworker who won't be back in the new year. Kinda got put on the spot with that, so I don't know if I'll actually be going. This morning, having a Banana Nut breakfast bar and my diet coke. Lunch was supposed to be spicy chicken with brown rice, if I can't get out of the outing. Dinner- well, that'll be a sandwich or something fast while we're doing the last little things before company.

If I don't get too caught up, I'll check in over the next few days. If I don't-- Merry Christmas, chickies. May you have a wonderful, safe, happy, and healthy holiday, and I wish you all nothing but the best into the New Year!

hikein2005 12-21-2006 06:10 PM

Is it the weekend yet????

OMG...I am just exhausted! I didn't exericse formally today. Was beat this morning. Went to bed late, woke up at 3 when hubby left and didn't get back to sleep til 4:30...cat woke me up at 5 and then the dog at 6am! I hate nights like that!

Anyway...plenty of movement at work today with TWO activities at the adjoining Assisted Living Center. I think I made 10 trips back and forth there today probably totalling 2 miles! I know it wasn't aerobic, but I was pushing wheelchairs most of those trips! Anyway...I will be so glad when tomorrow is over even though it has been enjoyable this year with my residents...there are some that like to do things for Christmas and I've sort of changed my whole attitude about activities at Christmas time...they like to eat and be entertained...anything else...well, they don't care about it! So, I just go with their lead...much easier! Tomorrow is the big Santa Claus party and I had to find a new Santa at the last minute as our Maintenance director is out sick! When he feels better, he's gonna hear it from me!

OK...I'm still sick of Christmas goodies...they are EVERYWHERE this week! Ahhhhh...I think I just need a good "Calgon Take me Away" day!!! LOL!

Hope you all are doing great!

MsRD 12-21-2006 10:14 PM

Hello All!

Sorry for the absence.....we are getting down to the wire, holiday wise, and it seems my attentions are needed elsewhere.

I've been doing fairly well in the Christmas snack department......probably eating more than I should, but not tooooo much. One of our vendors brought in pizzas today for us for lunch.....and the boss will treat us to lunch tomorrow. I still haven't done my baking.....I'm thinking Saturday or Sunday.

Angie.....The last thing you need this time of year is a 12-hour day. I know the feeling. Everyone at the office has decided they need to use up vacation time.....so that leaves me trying to cover all the bases. It should add up to a little OT....which is not a bad thing either.

Elisha......Great job in getting in the swing of exercising! It is the only way we can work off those extra pieces of holiday fudge!

Julie....Being on your feet all day at work has got to use up some calories! And it shows when the scale moves down!

Jennifer.....Congrats on the super annual review! So nice when the boss can't think of anything negative to say......wonder how the roid made out? Have a wonderful holiday with your guests!

I have been doing the 1-mile WATP.....tried to bump it up to 2 miles tonight, but just couldn't do it. Why did I let myself get in such terrible shape? Well, no use crying over past mistakes.....got to set some goals and look towards a healthy future.

MsRD 12-23-2006 09:16 AM

Happy Two Days Before Christmas! :clause:

I know you are all busy doing a dozen things, but I had to check in and tell you the news........I have lost another two pounds :cheer:

I can't tell you how pumped I am! This is the first holiday season in FOREVER that I have not added 10-15 pounds between Thanksgiving and New Years!! And, thus far, I have LOST 4 pounds! Ok....Ok.....I know this is no time to be overconfident.....especially with all the baking and dinners coming in the next couple of days.....but I feel I have already gotten the best Christmas present ever! :present:

I hope you all have a beautiful holiday!
