I'm going to do this for 2022. I am maintaining around 190 for a while now, about 30 lbs down from my highest weight of 217. If I lose 1 lb a week, 4 lbs a month, I would be down 50 lbs by Christmas. That would be wonderful! I realize that it will take determination. No more slacking. I also want to get back to exercising on a regular basis.

I want to join this group this year! I miss the accountability and people I met here. I'm not sure of my goal weight for next year so that will be determined. Looking forward to my journey with new and some old friends!

loganandlivsmom 12-30-2021 08:18 AM

KStrong I think like you said on the last thread being at or below your beginning of December weight is a win!
Wannabehealthy You can do this! Picture yourself a year from now. Even a pound or two a month would mean you would weigh 170 and say you are 50 pounds down!
momtopands Please keep checking in, it definitely helps me getting my thoughts out, writing down mini goals and reaching them, etc...

I was down to 71 lost and then after Christmas I went up two pounds. I thought for sure it would go right off but it hasn't? I know my calories have been OK so those pounds don't want to move. Oh well, I am still below the 199 I was dreaming of being by now. On another thread I post on I see I am still down two pounds from earlier this month, so that's good! :carrot:My goal is 160. This means I need to lose 35 pounds in a year which is .67% of a pound a week. I know it's possible. Part of me thinks I haven't weighed this since I was a young teenager. Is this possible? I mean I know it is, but wow. Hard to wrap my head around! :dizzy:

:welcome: Carol, momtopands, and L&L's Mom!

Although I plan to weigh weekly on Friday (officially) here, I usually also do my waist/hip measurements for my spreadsheet. I will do an official 2022 weigh in tomorrow and measure everything. I suggest everyone measure from neck to ankles so that when the scale is fussy, you can still hopefully see progress in other ways. :)

Let's do this! :cheer3:

Happy New Year!

I'm revising my starting weight due to too much celebrating. Now back to business.

My goal weight is probably way ridiculous but I am on a challenge Lose I Lb A Week so 52 lbs in a year. Its doable, but probably not by me but ill do my best. I try to think positive....

Happy New Year everyone! :newyear:

I met my goal in 2021 and was debating whether or not to join this year. I've decided to join because it will help to maintain my weight by keeping me accountable. Maintaining has been difficult for me previously as I've lost weight in the past and regained it so I think joining this thread will help to keep me accountable.

Everyone: It looks like all of us are starting out 2022 with losses in 2021. Yeah!:cheer2: I hope everyone achieves their 2022 goals.

KStrong: I'm so glad you decided to do this thread again this year! Thank you for doing this thread in 2021 and again this year.

KStrong That is a great idea to measure all over. I have only done my waist and hips.

flower1 A BIG congrats on making your goal in 2021. That is so awesome!! :cp:I am glad you are sticking with us! I am with you on losing (large amounts) of weight several times before but never have maintained it. My problem was eating too few calories to keep it up long term.

I am now at 70 pounds down. I will really have to start keeping my calories closer to 1600 than 1900 to see the scale move again.

Good luck to all of us this year, we know we can do this!!

KStrong 01-04-2022 05:38 AM

Good morning!

Carol - Good for you gaining only a couple! I'm sure you'll have that off in no time.

Welcome back Flower! Congrats again for being our star loser last year by hitting your ultimate goal. I hear you on the regaining. I recently read something that shocked me. It may take up to SIX years for our hunger ques to adjust after losing which is why so many people gain everything and more back. It will always be a battle for me I think.

L&L's Mom - Now that you have been in the 190s for a bit, you may have to add exercise/strength if you want to eat 1900 calories and still lose at your usual speed. I think that or slightly lowering your calories even 500 a day may shake things up. It is all about the tweaking or having lots of patience but you have to do you so you will stick to it. :) The weird thing is that when you hit your goal, you may be able to eat that and still maintain. Are bodies are bizarre!

Wannabehealthy 01-04-2022 03:03 PM

Kstrong, what is "on plan " for you? I know that we lose faster when we first start back and I'm wondering how you averaged a lb a day in 9 days! I don't doubt you, but those are great results and I'd like a few pointers.

My bump up came off right away, back to 189, but I'm not surprised because I think it was fluid retention from the sodium in the Christmas ham and the New Years sauerkraut.

I have also heard that it takes years for your body to adjust to a new low weight.

momtopands 01-05-2022 12:00 PM

So I have decided that i'm going to be conservative with my weight loss goal. If I lose more then that will be a bonus!
SW: 285.2
GW: 235.2
That's just under 1 lb per week so I will be stopping in for chats and weigh ins!

KStrong 01-05-2022 02:30 PM

Carol - My plan is low carb, counting calories, trying to stay in a losing range for my current weight but not too low and exercising in some form daily.

Carol - I forgot to say congrats on getting that gain off so quickly. You were smart and only gained 3 pounds and then followed up with a plan that worked for you and got it right off. It sounds like you are doing great!!!

Momtopands - That sounds like a great plan!

loganandlivsmom 01-06-2022 11:46 PM

KStrong I get what you said about calories and needing to eat less calories and / or exercise more to keep on losing. My whole idea of trying to eat 1600 a day as I get closer to 160 is so I can maintain it since I'd be used to that amount of calories. I laughed at your comment that your body is ridiculous with the water weight gains and losses. I completely understand though! 9 pounds in 9 days is pretty crazy!

Momtopands Conservative goals are the best. You will feel so great on December 31st knowing you met or beat your goal!!

Wannabehealthy I like that you also have a reachable goal. One pound a week sometimes seems like a lot, but other weeks you can lose it easily. You've got this!

As for me, I was 191.2 today. I almost don't believe it and think it may bounce back up? It's funny that once again I don't want to "announce" it in case it doesn't last. LOL If it's not a fluke then I will make my next goal 189 or 75 pounds.
