This will be my first month... I've been mentally gearing up. I have 50-60 lbs to lose. *sigh* For my first month, I'm going to set a goal of 5 lbs. HOPEFULLY it'll be more, but I have an autoimmune issue and my body never reacts the way most people's bodies do.

Happy New Month!

I've just started Week 9 of my 14 Week Challenge. I'm about 60 days in. I've kept my calories in (or under) range and had ZERO alcohol. My liver thanks me. Last month, I gave up red meat and cheese, but didn't really see any improvement so the red meat came back in when the sales were too good. I also gave up my late afternoon snack of almonds the last couple of weeks. Again, I saw no improvement so I've decided to not avoid ANY on plan (low carb) foods this month and add back in some veggies I had been avoiding/MISSING for TMI reasons. I was pretty much carnivore last month other than a splash of HWC in my coffee and my calories were extremely low especially the last two weeks. I admit that I never really felt hungry and it helped me with some other issues, but let's face it, I'm bored and feel deprived. All in my mind, of course. So, now the thought of a serving of cheese or almonds have me excited again (and maybe I'll quit drooling at the McD fry commercials at night) I'll just have to keep an eye on the calories, but I need to get back into a healthier calorie range and that one snack usually helped. I'd probably feel differently about continuing this course if my deficits equaled even HALF of what I should be losing on the scale, but I'm running at about 1/4 if that so definitely not worth it! I'm hoping to find some middle ground this month and NOT GAIN anything back. Thanks for listening.

KStrong: I appreciate your thoughts. It's a tricky business figuring out what works for our own brain and bodies -- and it isn't always the thing said in the last book I read or diet guru that I heard. All that advice, put together, is a mass of contradictions, so I give myself permission to choose the things that work for me.

Joy ~ So true!!! I think I've tried almost everything over my many MANY years of dieting and I've lost (and gained) hundreds of pounds on various plans, but I think we all have to find what works for us in order to keep it off. It only took me 40 years to realize that and some days I am still surprised, but not really. I just like to complain because I don't want anyone to think I'm not really working hard on this mess of a body. I will admit that hitting menopause and maybe my family genes have made it all so much harder, but I will not give up because the alternative is unacceptable.
I appreciate your kind words.

The scale gave me a nice surprise with new numbers for 2020. And I dropped TWO WHOLE POINTS on my BMI so that was lovely! For the record, my calories were still low as I haven't bought any new grocery items yet...BUT I'm still excited by the prospect and that will keep me going for a few days.

I had a nice mini whoosh this morning. Actually a big whoosh for me. I admit it, I was REALLY surprised. I had a busy day yesterday and only ate once right in the middle so it may not stick, but I am liking my scale today.

Have a great one, all!

Way to go KStrong! My weight has been bouncing around, today I came in at 289.6 or something like that, then I slept a bit longer than intended and weighed myself and it’s 288.6, I am more looking at the end of the year than the month and hoping to be in the 260s by year’s end.
