Amber: Way to go on your May progress! Your bread trick sounds like such a good idea (love cinnamon!)! The DietBet I’m doing started last week I think, but you can join for another week if you still want to give it a go. I totally understand if not, it’s very difficult to come in a week late as you still have to lose the original amount (which is challenging enough!!!)! You’re absolutely right about weight loss being slower and the reasons behind the loss being more intrinsic  I know I definitely have months where progress slows or halts completely as my body readjusts—weight loss is most definitely not linear, but as long as we keep making the choice to take better care of ourselves every day, that’s really what matters, right?
I can’t believe May is already over! Getting back into the swing of things with keto was easier than I thought it would be and I’m ready to begin adding in an exercise goal. Plan is to walk with Loki for at least an hour 6 days a week, and do the Nerd Fitness beginner bodyweight workout three times per week (in addition to actually taking care of myself and doing my PT stretches for my hip/back). I’m also on the hunt for a better food scale. Wish me luck :crossed:  |
Kayla- The DietBet thing, I think I joined the same one just got nervous and didn't do it. It's stupid I know but I'd hate to feel like I failed at it already, not ready for that! Lol. Let me know WHEN you make it by the deadline! I bet yu can. Keto is amazing I just can't stick to it. I did lose like 15 pounds in 3 weeks when I started it last time so I know it works. I just can't do it for life so I refuse to do that lol, for myself.
Who is Loki? A dog, a person? And yay exercise! It makes such a difference and you are SO CLOSE to onederland! I am excited to be at your weight! lol. It's gonna feel so good seeing that 199 on the scale! We've been doing this BodyProject workout thing I found on youtube then joined the site for 20 bucks a month to test it out. It does kick my booty but the one for day 2 which I did 10 minutes of today was NOT for my 247 pound self! I had to stop it and went back to day 1. I'm hoping that video was just ridiculous and gonna try day 3 tomorrow. If not I'll do Jillian Michaels and day 1 until I get there. Jumping and bouncing and jump squats are made for people closer to your weight NOT FOR THIS GIRL not right now! LOL. We have a food scale, I love it! Makes it so easy to weigh out meats for me. Did you find one?! Also, I counted my weight for today instead of Friday which I typically do but I was so excited to see 147 on that scale after living at 251 for the month of May so I used it for my weigh in! Haha, have a good week! Thanks for sticking this out with me, Decemember is creeping up quickly now that it's June! |
Amber: First of all, congrats on your progress! You’re crushing it!!! :cheer::cheer::cheer: It’s the best feeling to finally see the scale budge after a while of it being stubborn! I’ve been hard on myself the past couple days because my numbers have been up a bit due to impending shark week and I was dragging my feet averaging them. I’m really glad I finally did though, because while the day to day fluctuations are getting to me, my June Week 1 average weight is only up by 0.1 lb instead of the almost 3lbs I had in my head. I just wish shark week would hurry up and get here already so the bloat will dissipate! And what you mentioned about DietBet isn’t stupid, that feeling is exactly why I stopped doing them in the first place  Loki is my pup- she’s a five year old golden retrieve mix I rescued as a pup (pictured here). She looks very much like she is mixed with rottweiler or shepherd—betting on rottie though. I met my exercise goal last week (maybe that’s part of the bump up too? Water weight from exercise.. it was pretty mild though…) and am aiming to do the same this week. The studio I do yoga through just announced they’re holding classes outside! I’m so beyond excited to get back into it!!! Omg, jumping, bouncing and jump squats aren’t for me either  but great on you for going back to a workout you know works for you and aiming to revisit BodyProject later—it takes a lot of will power and determination not to let something like that get you down! Way to go :cp::cp::cp: And you're so right, December will be here before we know it! I already can't believe how far into June we are!! We can do this!

Kayla- I HATE shark week mine is coming up the end of the month :/. It sucks being a bit higher but sometimes yu get a nice swoosh after so I just let it go! Speaking of DietBet, how are you doing? I am glad I didn't join because my weightloss is slow. I read that when you strength train it does slow weight loss so I accept that. At least when I get smaller I'll have sexy muscles to show off after I drop the lard! lol And omg she is so cute!!! I love animals. I have a cat but don't use any social media other than facebook, he's a maine coon and my world- he doesn't go for walks though lol. Have you been doing those classes outside!? That's great news. We've been walking some days at this huge park 2km from the house. Just trying to be more active. I sit all day at work and work out 30 minutes and walking adds in more to do and is also super relaxing. No yoga for this girl! lol. We are on day 6 of BodyProject, I like it but still have to modify sometimes which is fine with me, at least I'm moving and trying! Endurance is for sure going up! I recently realized I never had a problem with motivation just DISCIPLINE so I am working out whether or not I want to unless I'm sick etc. Today was the day I realized that, I was not feeling it but did it anyway and I'm glad I did! I'm only down almost half a pound this week however I think I am holding water due to sore muscles. I saw 146 on Wednesday but I'm not counting it so hopefully I'll have a nice drop next week!! Stay well! Can't wait to hear how you are.

Still having slow losses but that's alright, it's something!

Hi all,
You all seem to be on some incredible self-empowered journeys, which is amazing. Do you think the current weight loss companies are fit for purpose and are really doing everything they can to help people lose weight or do you think there is more that they need to be doing? |
Ugh, still only losing about a pound a month. I was on a bipolar med that put 50 pounds on me and my doc thinks it messed with my metabolism so he prescribed me topomax to help me lose weight. I can't wait to start it today maybe next month I'll lose 4 pounds at least!
Kayla- I haven't heard from you. Still kicking *** with the weight loss? |
Still here, all by my lonesome and updating!

Hi Amber! Love the thread idea! I’m back after too long away with a wonderful medication related regain too! Would love to be with you all on this trip to Onederland by the end of the year. This seems like a great long range goal, given all of life’s challenges right now. I am sending you all good wishes with your week. Happy to be starting again from 230lbs rather than 273, but still, I miss the 170s.
Be well all! |
Hi Kittens- Gosh, I miss the 170s too! I didn't even feel skinny back then! I was so wrong! Now, when I get back I'll love it! lol. It's sure better than starting from the 270's and 280's! lol. Welcome. Are you going to join in and start posting your weight?!

 Hi all!
The middle and end of summer got way too busy for me to keep up on here, but I'm back and hopeful I can still make it to sub-200's by the end of the year!Wow how the summer has flown by! I think the last time I logged in was some time in July toward the end of my interview process for my new job. I got all set up, moved into my office, and am settling into a new work-life balance. It's been a period of adjustment, but it is so nice to rejoin the portion of the workforce that has weekends off! I haven't been weighing myself everyday for a few reasons, one of which being my sanity, but I am happy to report that I'm hovering within the same five pound range as the last time I checked in with you all. I'm working my way through catching up on prior posts (Amber, it's so nice to see you again!) and am looking forward posting my progress here! Best of luck to everyone as we work toward our goals! :cheer: September Goals: Hydration: 4L Nutrition: No take-out for the month of September; meal prep weekly. 1600kcal (100g protein/<100-125g fat/<25g net carbs) Exercise: Yoga 3 times per week, walk 30-60 minutes daily SW: 225.6 CW: 222.0 GW: 218.0 9/1: 225.6 9/9: 224.3 (-1.3) 9/10: 222.1 (-2.2) 9/12: 222.0 (-0.1) |
A bit of a whoosh this week as shark week draws to a close. I did the math for what I need to lose to meet the goal of ONEderland by 2021, and it averages out to 1.3 lbs per week. As we know, weightless is definitely not linear in any way, but 1.3 (a little more or less each week can average out nicely) lbs per week seems perfectly reasonable.
