Yesterday was not a good day eating-wise. I was snacky all day. I almost did a no weigh in day today, but decided to just face the music and get back on track.

Happy to report I lost a teeny tiny amount of weight for week one, putting me at 195 lbs (my starting weight). Thanks to the car situation I wasn't able to go to belly dancing on Saturday, but yesterday I went on a nice long hike in the Georgia mountains. The Autumn colors were very pretty, but I feel like they'll be spectacular in a couple of weeks. I probably walked about 4.5 miles with some inclines too, my legs were nice and sore in the evening. Unfortunately, the weekend was full of bad food - pizza and Wendy's. BUT it looks like thanks to my hike I'm down to 193.4 lbs this morning which was very nice to see!

It's going to be tough trying to co-ordinate my dance classes with just one car but we'll figure it out. I could probably get a Lyft to my studio...but I also don't love the idea of getting into cars with strangers on a regular basis on my own. I know it'll probably be fine, but it is annoying to have to do it. I'm sure I'll figure something out!

Thanks Lacerta! It does make sense to have an I'm satisfied goal as well as a stretch goal. Hm, we'll see if I change up the numbers. I totally feel you on the snacky days.

Rie ~ sounds like you're doing well with the exercise bit! The hike sounds GORGEOUS!

~~~
Mm, no daily tracking to list, but I am up to a not-so-great 149.4 this morning. It's expected since the weekend was full of poor choices. Although I was super excited to check out the new grocery store that opened up last week! They had a burrito bar and while I went the salad route, I couldn't pass on the rice and beans! I also got to relive the memories of the 90s and new millennium at the Backstreet Boys concert! AHHH. But since we got home 2 hours after I'm normally asleep, I'm seriously dead right now! I hope we don't have admin/coach walkthroughs in the classroom today, but I get the strange feeling it'll happen. ANYWAY, happy Monday y'all! I'll definitely need to check in daily to keep me on track.
I'm looking for a bit of advice. This weekend, I'm going to a Wine and Food Expo with some of the country's best chefs. It's only a 4 hour event, some of which is presentations and talks, so it's not all food all the time. I'm planning on having a low cal, high fiber breakfast, lots of water. Then only taking the food items that I REALLY REALLY want to try, not everything offered. I'll limit myself to max 8 oz of wine. Dinner will be a fresh salad with vinegar only. I'm hoping to stay under 2500 calories for the day, which is still double an on plan day.
How does this sound for a plan?
Welp, my low weight was short lived I had a bad day yesterday since I felt super run down/sick. It was that frustrating level of fatigue where I could probably have pushed through and been productive/gone to a dance class but my brain was like "no, you must be a potato." Very frustrating but these types of days are going to happen. I had a late night chips and salsa snack since I didn't really eat something substantial for dinner, so I'm sure that contributed to my gain this morning.
etherbunny - I mean... personally? I wouldn't worry about being good. It's a special occasion so I would have fun and forget about calories. It's important to enjoy yourself as long as you don't make it a weekly thing. BUT if that's not your style and you feel you want to stick to a plan then what you said sounds fine.
Atari - Backstreet Boys! That must have been fun. I was never a big fan but I did enjoy a couple of their songs. It's quite fun when these old school groups get back together. I hope you didn't get an admin/coach walkthrough, whatever that is!
So...yeah! I have no idea what happened this week. I was feeling pretty snacky and I have had a bit more fast food than usual, and I probably even went over my maintenance calories by 2000-3000 total for the week, so I could see being up a pound, but 4.4 pounds would take like 15,000 extra calories, which I know for an absolute fact I didn't do. The rest of this has to be bloat from the extra carbs.
I also went off my blood pressure med for a few days to see whether I got less dizzy...I didn't, and when I checked my bp yesterday, it was 160/88, so back on the med I went today. Might be time to schedule a visit with the doc about the vertigo feeling.
Anyway, I'm back on track as of today and we'll see how long it takes to get back into the 160s. I'm glad I just made it November's goal to lose something, because this is not a good start to the month.
ether ~ If I were in your shoes, I'd treat the event as an all-in like Rie mentioned. Given it's only ONE meal and a special occasion, it should be fine! But if your concern is getting back on track, then being selective on food choices is smart!
Rie ~ Hope you feel better! Sodium is a killer. Fingers crossed that you're only seeing some water retention!
Lacerta ~ Way to catch things early! A chunk of that weight must definitely bloat/water retention. I've been very snacky lately too, so I can definitely relate.
~~~

Well, I've been failing to check in daily like I hoped I would! I haven't even logged my Wednesday change. However, recovering from being off plan this weekend is going well; I am down to 146.6 again, even with my snacking! with that said, I have been snacking on things like meats and fatty cheeses or nuts and low carb things, so at LEAST it's been on plan. I suspect the snacking is due to shark week being around the corner!

Lacerta, some bp meds affect water, many are sodium related. But any changes in bp have an affect on the cellular level which could impact water retention. So watch what happens back on your meds.

Riestrella and Atarimae, thanks for the input. I'm really looking forward to the festival but I'm scared of my response! I'm hoping it's a one off, one meal thing and not a gateway to a binge. Send me willpower vibes for Sunday morning when I get back on plan!

Rie, how far away is your dance class? Is it something you could bike to, walk to? Maybe find a carpool dance buddy? You've been so excited for these classes, I hate to see anything get in your way.

Time to get a different size in clothes. I pulled out winter things and they don't fit. I'd been making do with my summer clothes because they're more clingy and form fitting materials, so they didn't look too bad. But obviously the slacks, jeans, sweaters are hanging on me now. I'll look for 2-3 interchangeable outfits this weekend when I'm in the city so I can mix and match into a work week worth of clothes. I'm still hoping to drop another 25 lbs though so I don't want to invest in a full wardrobe yet. I did throw some jeans into the dryer on high, which I NEVER do, so I shrunk them into a better fit!

It's Thursday, so Happy Weekend everybody! Monday check in/weigh in next

Nice to be seeing those 193's again!! I definitely think my late night snacks are the biggest culprit of my weight gains, so I'm going to be conscious of that moving forward. I went to ballet barre fit last night and it's always super tough during the class, but surprisingly I don't feel that sore the next day. I definitely lack all upper body strength that's for sure. I'm sure if I could actually hold a plank for more than 2 seconds I'd feel the burn more! I'm going to belly dancing on Saturday now that we have one reliable car again. Going to just keep on trucking with exercise, trying not to snack and see where it gets me.

etherbunny - You can do it! Just don't think "well, I ate so much at the event it won't hurt to have more..." because then that will trigger the binge eating. See the event as something you literally step over a line and get to treat yourself, then when you leave you go back to normal. Unfortunately the studio is a little far away to bike...plus Atlanta has one of the highest cyclist mortality rates in the country so I don't think I'll ever bike here!! We've figured out a schedule that works for us, it'll be a little tedious to run life with one car but we'll manage. OMG, I had the same realization with my winter clothes!! Things that were relatively loose last year are now super snug. I could probably get away with some, but not without feeling a bit uncomfortable. I just invested in jeans that fit, leggings, a couple of tops, a sweater and a new coat. Otherwise I'd spend the season feeling like I was bursting the seams of my clothes!

Atari - Congrats on the loss even with the snacks!

Lacerta - hang in there, definitely go see the doctor about the vertigo. You'll be back on track in no time, you just had a week with a lot of changes!

A nice low this morning of 192.6 lbs! Hopefully I can remain good over the weekend and keep weighing in some low 190's numbers so my average stays low. A few obstacles I need to navigate this weekend: today, a grilled cheese eating contest at my work, Sunday: birthday party for a friend. Today I think I'm going to only have a bite or two of each quarter of the grilled cheese sandwiches that I'll be judging! I don't think my stomach could handle that much cheese all at once. Sunday there are no food plans, and I've assigned myself the driver in case people want to drink, so I think I'll do fine there. However, despite the fun plans that may cause me to gain, I'm also going to be going to two dance classes over the weekend! Belly dance tomorrow and a dance fitness class on Sunday. I'm excited to try belly dancing! Afterwards we're going car shopping, fingers crossed we find something that suits our needs and isn't a dud!

Have a great weekend everyone!

ether ~ Enjoy yourself! Also, if at anytime you feel like you're losing control, always come back to us. Somehow, the support here is always what brings my spirit up after some not-so-great choices.
Rie ~ Congrats on the low! A grilled cheese eating contest sounds super delicious. You sound like you're going to have a busy weekend ahead. Hope belly dancing is enjoyable! Oh, and feel free to not answer if you'd rather, but out of curiosity, does your blog still exist? (Does this show how long I've been around? )

~~~
Yesterday was GREAT! Hubby was off and ended up cooking for me. This is a great feat, since he is far from someone who's cooked pre-marriage. He's been looking up keto recipes and I ended up with some 'Mexican' soup as well as some fathead cheese bread...which actually tasted like mac and cheese. He also informed me that he got the new job he applied for a couple weeks back. He described it as a dream job for him, so we're very excited. Phew, one more day of work and then a much needed 3-day weekend ahead. Enjoy your weekend y'all!
ether: Your stated plan sounds like a great one to me. I'm not personally someone who enjoys alcohol, but from what I've read, I think limiting that would likely be the most important factor. Not only is it extra calories, but also being a little tipsy might hinder your ability to make good decisions. But I'd say a bit of tasting and enjoying the best of the foods, the ones that call to you the most would be a good thing. Enjoy your weekend and we'll see you back here on Sunday.
At least I wasn't up further today. Hopefully I'm back down more tomorrow. Thanks everyone for the support. I don't want to blame the gain entirely on the change in meds, because I definitely did eat more than usual, but it is a potassium sparing diuretic, which means not taking it probably does mean I retained more water than usual. I'm hoping being back on it again going forward will drop a bit of this bloat back off.
Honestly what I've taken away from the last few days on the scale was that even though I was up almost 5 pounds, I didn't throw in the towel and just eat whatever I wanted. I still found myself trying to make smart choices. That was a very good sign for me that I've accepted this new lifestyle. Some weeks are going to have better results than others, but I'm getting less and less likely to fall off the wagon entirely.
Had time this morning for a quick check in, going to be heading off to belly dancing then car shopping soon! The grilled cheese contest was fun, my winner was just a straight up grilled cheese sandwich with vermont cheese. It had a lovely sweet kick to it without being overly complex. There were other fancy ones there, one that I'm sure will win but wasn't quite to my personal tastes (lots of basil), but some were a bit too much! Nevertheless it was a lot of fun and everyone seemed to be having a great time. I had a bite of 7 sandwiches, and probably finished in total half a sandwich in addition, so that probably made up to like...1 and a half grilled cheeses? So nothing terrible. I was a little naughty and grabbed a can of Sprite afterwards, only to find myself thinking "why am I drinking this?" and poured half of it down the sink. I know it's pretty wasteful, but I didn't want to just finish it for the sake of it.
In the evening I had a small portion of kimchi stew (the grilled cheese was a late lunch thing) and said no to additional snacks afterwards. I tried to drink lots of water and managed a weigh in of 193.8 lbs today, which I'm happy with! I was expecting to see 195 lbs again, so I was relieved. Today I'll be going out for lunch before car shopping and I've already looked at the menu, I think I'm going to stick to a salad (which is very unusual of me!) since surprisingly I'm not in a burger mood (it's a burger bar ). Fingers crossed I stick to that plan after an hour and half long workout!
Atari - Oh wow, I haven't thought of the blog for a long time! No, I did get rid of all traces of the blogs I had. I seem to remember one day getting frustrated with my weight gain and didn't like seeing them so I deleted them. I believe I kept a backup if I ever had a change of heart, so I could reupload it, but right now I kinda treat 3FC as a mini blog so I don't feel a strong need to blog as much. Huge congrats on your husband getting his dream job!! That's so amazing! And he cooked for you too, woop woop!
Lacerta - I'm glad you're making decisions that reflect your new lifestyle, that's a huge step in the right direction!
