etherbunny: See, what I heard from that was that you had a really rough couple of days, but you came out the other side, and you're still here and still working at it, and that is a HUGE victory. Way to go.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~
Whew, sorry about dropping off the planet there. A lot has happened. Long story short, I cut down my hours at my creative agency job to focus on another project that I'm excited about. A week after that happened, my boss at the agency called and asked me to come back and increased my rate by $60 a day. While I was super thankful for the raise, I couldn't just abandon the project, so I'm back at the agency 3 days a week. I've been trying to figure out my new schedule and it's been a process since I suffered from some pretty bad PMS during that week too. I'm still getting a little bit of pressure to go back to my max hours at the agency (30) but I have to keep gently saying no. Not super stressful at the moment but I hope it doesn't escalate into "we gave you a raise, sooo..."
In terms of my health Week 3 of October for me suuucckked. PMS had me eating a lot of junk. However, I signed up for a 30 day pass at a dance studio, so I'm going to cram in as many classes as possible and if I can justify the pretty steep monthly membership fee, then I'm going to join. So far I've been to 2 classes, one was tough but it was sooo boring (same choreo for 1 hour straight?!) and the other was really good but my goodness my body is aching!!
Hope y'all are doing well!! I'll be back on personals asap.
Thanks for the reality check Lacerta. I've realized that I have a control issue. Much of my adult life felt out of my control. I just recently learned to take control again about a year ago, and started to control my eating habits just last March. So Thursday being out of control with my eating and Friday being out of control with my work day put me in a bit of a funk. I like order and simplicity and strive to maintain that.
Riestrella, good to see you back. Love your new tickers! Good luck on the new project and congrats on the raise.
I need a serious pick-me-up y'all. I'm going to try and do it myself, but your input would be super appreciated. Let's start with the bad thoughts: I went to a dance class yesterday and saw myself in the full length mirror. Now, we do have mirrors in our house, but not really anything floor length and with good lighting (our mirror in the closet bounces light from the windows and the bathroom mirror comes up to my hips). It was the first time in the past year that I truly saw the effects of my unhealthy habits. To me I looked huge. I almost didn't recognize myself, honestly. I know it seems silly, but seeing myself sort of unfiltered was a huge blow to my self esteem. I feel like in my mind I was how I looked when I was 160/170 lbs, but seeing me at almost 200 lbs was pretty upsetting.
On a positive note - I went to a dance class three times last week and they kicked my a$$. I did a stretch and conditioning class, I severely underestimated the conditioning side of it!! Yesterday my body was on fire. I also did a class called Rebel Groove, which was SO MUCH FUN. The ladies in there were just so confident, bada$$, the moves were super fun and strong and sexy. I'm so glad I found it! I think I would join the dance studio for that class alone. I'm so proud of myself for going three times a week, for doing something new when my anxiety tends to be a big obstacle, and for finally starting my journey to exercise frequently again.
My weight has gotten to an all time high in the last few weeks, it's all been a bit of a blur honestly. I have to remind myself that I ALWAYS gain weight/stall when I start exercising again. So the next few weeks are probably going to be trying for me since the weight I'm stalling at is dangerously close to the 200's. But I have to keep pushing, I have to keep going. That image of myself in the mirror should become motivation, I know it's silly to get so upset about it, but I think once I've got it all out of my system it'll be a good catalyst for change.
-------------------
VickieLou - Huge congrats on meeting your goal!!
etherbunny - Thank you!! I'll have to change my Halloween ticker since I'm no where near the goal I think my next one will be for Christmas. Sorry you had a bad few days last week, doesn't it suck when you just want ALL the food? I definitely had that last week...I had sushi for lunch then because a co-worker ordered a sandwich I love I went and bought one for dinner. Sooo bad. That's a great idea to eat veggies first when you order out! I wish I could eat 3 bites of a burger and stop that's a huge deal!!
gardenerjoy - I hope everything with your family is ok!
Atarimae - Congrats on the whoosh!! Hope things are still going well for you
Lacerta - Man, I genuinely teared up reading your post about reaching size 8 jeans! I'm just so happy for you. Even though you're baffled by your weight loss, I think your answer was right there - you're working out more, you've cut down on sugar, you're still killing it with your day to day goals and it all amounts to success. I hope you surprise yourself even further in the next few months and continue this downward trend!!
gardnerjoy ~ I hope everything with your family is okay!
etherbunny ~ It sounds like your body is well-adapted and reacted to the burger. That just shows that your body knows that's outta the norm. Way to go! I appreciate the sweet words!
Rie ~ Congrats on your work raise! Your dance classes are sounding super awesome. Quite honestly, the movement bit is where I struggle in this journey, so you are definitely a great motivation!
VickieLou ~ Congratulations on your goal!
Yep. Well to say my cheat weekend meals were a beast would be an understatement. This morning, I am at 148.8. 3.3 lbs up from Friday morning, BUUUT given it was a pre-planned weekend, I'd like to think I have the right mindset.
Friday was amazing. I got to visit my old students from my previous school and catch up with former co-workers. Many of them commented on my weight loss, which was an amazing NSV! I guess when we're in our bodies on the daily, we don't realize the overall change that's occurring! My former VP was even asking how keto works, but then said she could never do it. Sunday was dinner at my dad's. I have to admit it's a little frustrating with my dad's girlfriend though. I guess someone she knew had a heart attack at a young age while on keto and now she wants me to change my 'diet plans.' She previously mentioned he was someone who at whole sausages and lots of bacon...um...I do NOT do that. Ah well, the hubby tried to defend my eating versus that guy's. Hopefully she'll understand that I'm not intending to seek out unhealthy fats and eat it.
Anyway, back to that Monday grind!
I met my goal! I'm celebrating, even though there's nothing sustainable about the last three days of my life. I'd started telling myself a story that I wasn't capable of losing weight, any more. Clearly, I am. I just need to find ways that don't involve a sick family member, sleepless nights, and weird food choices (although in small portions!)
October goal: -1 kg (reach 96.2 kgs)
1: 97.2 kgs
A nice 2 lb drop this morning to make me feel better after my pity party yesterday! My average is still 195.4 lbs, but I'm a few days away from my period so hopefully I'll get a fabled "whoosh" in a few weeks when all this dancing catches up to me! I've noticed my scale seems to weigh me in increments of .2, which is weird to me. Might try and invest in a better scale one of these days!
Today I'm going to a Ballet Barre Fit class, I haven't been to one since I lived in CO so I'm excited to see if this studios version is just as good. On the one hand barre classes are usually filled with rich white housewives...but on the other it really does work wonders on my body! I feel my knee/back pain decrease after practicing for a while. Wish me luck!
Atarimae - It's interesting how we all differ! I suck with nutrition What an amazing NSV to have people notice! Ugh, sounds like that person was doing keto in the "cheat" way of thinking all the fats in the world was healthy.
gardenerjoy - Congrats on meeting your goal even in trying times.
gardenerjoy: You can turn me red too, I made my goal, set a new goal and made that one. Congrats on making your goal this month, even if it was not sustainable. I know people who lose weight on purpose that way. A few days of effort with resulting loss followed by maintaining that new weight for a few weeks, etc. I hope everyone is ok.
Riestrella: Hey, you caught it at less than 40 pounds. I wish I had started when I was still in the 190s. Your current weight is still around the lowest I'd ever lost to until a few months ago. The 190s are still pretty good. And you don't have that far to go to get back to the 160s. Way to go getting back to the gym. Maybe along with that, pick one thing you can consistently make better about your diet and make that your absolute minimum thing for now, with goals to do better if you can, but a minimum you won't do worse than. For example: "Bronze: Eat under 1800 calories and don't drink soda ; Silver: Eat under 1600 calories and at least 1 veggie ; Gold: Eat under 1500 calories and as little sugar added as possible ; Platinum: Eat under 1500 calories of all unprocessed food". So if you make Gold some days, and Silver most days, but at least Bronze every single day, you stay on track and don't backslide. When that becomes easy, you can step up what your baseline for Bronze is. Or maybe that sounds terrible for you. I'm a big proponent of the idea that everyone should do what works for them when it comes to weight loss, so I promise that even if you say "Lacerta, that sounds like a torture device", I won't take offense.
Sorry for going MIA guys! Still busy with Open Enrollment at work and a couple doctor's appointments. I am still hovering around 311/312, and trying to not go too crazy from stress.
I hope everyone has amazing weeks!
