Total September Loss:

Not much to report! Still need to work on my after work routine, these days it involves laying on the couch watching TV. I think I should stop doing that and instead get going with something else. TV can really suck you in to being lazy for long periods of time. Weight has been consistently in the low 190's, need to make a push if I want that to change. My period has been and gone without stomach issues, so I'm super happy about that.

Lacerta - Perhaps the soup had a lot of salt in it? I find pre-made soups are super high in sodium which is always a killer. Sometimes something that is relatively good calorie-wise can be bad for sodium/sugar.

sgregg - Don't give up!! I know it's tough after a gain and sticking to a plan is hard, but keep with it and you'll love the results.

Candidcamster - You can do it!! You're doing so well and you should be proud, be sure not to let your success let you feel complacent. I say that from experience :lol:

yangtzer 09-07-2019 01:06 PM

The fall is really coming here in NJ.

sgregg 09-07-2019 04:32 PM

Yangtzer, it's still very hot here in MS...it's been windy though, so it's helped to keep the humidity down.

Riestrella, thanks for the encouragement.

I didn't weigh this morning because I figured I'd be up and I didn't want to know how much. :rolleyes:
My brother, who lives a good 6 hours away from me, came for a visit yesterday evening on his way back home to OK. He stayed the night with us, and left this morning after breakfast. Man, how I miss him already. Anyway, we ate late and had a few drinks, so I figured I wouldn't like the scale this morning, so I just skipped it. I am so bloated.
I plan on going to visit my sister tomorrow. I don't remember if I mentioned it, but she just delivered twin girls this past Thursday! I've got to go get my hands on my new nieces. She lives about an hour away from me. So, busy day tomorrow will hopefully help me stay on plan with eating.

So far, eating has been fine today.
Breakfast: eggs, spinach, cheese, & bacon
Lunch: skillet pizza with green olives, pepperoni, & spinach
I have some keto brownies in the oven...I did lick the batter out of the bowl. yum!
Plan for dinner....if hungry, I'm just going to eat a keto brownie.

Atarimae 09-07-2019 08:38 PM

D'oh. Scale so far is overall up since Wednesday, despite not deviating. Granted, it's +/- 0.5-1lb, so I suppose it's nothing. Meal prep weekend! Not quite sure what's on the menu, besides a keto chicken divan. I'm still trippin' at how many carbs are in condensed cream of mushroom soup...lol. I have a few cheddar bay drop biscuits and some premade barbacoa from Sam's Club from this previous week. It's just a challenge because meal prepping for myself is fine...but thinking about the hubby and what he eats makes it a little more challenging. Speaking of challenges, my coworkers, as much as I love them, are THE WORST. During our weekly meetings, they ALWAYS bring sweets. Yesterday, they had brookies...they looked so delicious, but I miraculously resisted. :lol:

sgregg ~ AH. I AM SO JEALOUS. I taught third last year, but I got displaced and the new school offered kindergarten, fifth, or sixth. I decided on the little ones, but it's...so...exhausting. :faint: your meals sound great!

sgregg 09-07-2019 09:54 PM

I have done well today with my eating! Stuck to my plan. Dinner was 2 keto brownies, green olives, and 1 slice of bacon...lol...I know, weird combination, but it gets the job done. Hoping to see a drop on the scale in the AM...not sure how yesterday impacted my weight though.

Atarimae, I'm interested in that chicken divan. Also, I think I would have chosen 6th grade...haha! I asked to move up to a higher grade at the end of the school year this past May, and they kept me where I'm at. I'm just not fond of the thought of teaching the "babies." Third grade isn't too bad, but they are transitioning from non-challenging work to super challenging and it's scaring my parents.

Candidcamster 09-08-2019 03:31 AM

Hey Riestrella, you're right, that has been my problem for the past few years, lose a little and backslide, and regain everything and then some, not this time. My big temptation was some Hershey nuggets, I didn't have them and to be honest I'm not big on Hershey brand chocolate.
Weigh in - same as yesterday of 299, working towards 269 by December 31st, 2019. calories were 2,008.

Wannabehealthy 09-08-2019 12:08 PM

Hii Candidcamster! Good to see you back and posting.

Lacerta 09-08-2019 01:14 PM

Candid: Yep, I think we've all been there. Lose a little, feel better, eat more, gain it all back. I firmly believe that the key is to keep the right mindset. Even if you just maintain for a while, if you keep the healthy eating mindset instead of the "it's just a little bit, what can it hurt?" or a "I'll get back to it tomorrow" mindset, you will succeed in the end. That isn't to say you can't have just a little bit or take a day off. It isn't about that, it's about the state of mind. Instead of thinking "it's just a little bit, what can it hurt", you think "I can fit this into my plan today", or instead of thinking "I'll get back to it tomorrow", you think instead "I can enjoy myself today, I just need to eat 200 calories less a day the rest of the week". The mindset of HOW we think about our choices will keep us going in the long run.

sgregg: You're right. That is an odd combination. But then, I eat peanut butter toast with cheddar cheese, so I don't think I have room to criticize. Also, I think not weighing in after a bad day can be a very good mental health choice. Way to go. Also, congrats on the new auntie-hood. My sister has twins too, they are 4 now and a lot of fun. Enjoy your day with the family.

Atarimae: My scale is always all over the place. I tend to have a "stall and whoosh" pattern. Keep within about a pound + or - for a week or two (or more) and then lose like 3-5 pounds in a fairly short period of time and then hang out there again. If your pattern ends up like that too, I found that tracking my average weights for the week as well, helps me really see that I actually am making progress, even when the scale doesn't move for a while. For example, I'm up 0.2 pounds this Sunday over last Sunday, but my average weight for the week dropped 1.4 pounds. So even with the apparent gain, I actually had a pretty good week. A lot of weight tracking apps have this feature, also, because it is important to help see the big picture.

Total Loss for Week Two:

Got back out for a walk this morning, in the rain, no less. Haven't had time for a few days, but got it done today. I have tomorrow and Tuesday to get through at work, and then things quiet down again. I'd really like to see a 175.x this week.

TMI incoming, so stop reading now if you don't want to hear about it.

My entire digestive and reproductive systems have been a little wonky this week, I think my body has been adjusting to the protein shakes for breakfast as my stomach has been slightly upset since midweek. But I'm giving that a few weeks to see if it settles down. Plus it has been my shark week. For me, that is infrequent, but lasts more than a week when it does happen, the only other one this year went for 5 weeks total, and was fairly awful. I'm on birth control to prevent them entirely, and didn't have any for over 10 years, but I think the Metformin and the weight loss is messing with my status quo, and confusing my body because after having none for 10 years, I have had several in the last 18 months. Plus, I'm 41 now and it is entirely possible that I'm entering into the first stages of menopause. Anyway, I'm just hoping this time doesn't last 5 weeks (I had to take iron supplements last time...I'm at 8 days now, so if it doesn't stop soon, I'll probably have to take them again). But because shark week is not a regular occurrence for me, I'm not entirely sure how it affects my weight. So I'm hoping for a drop this week, but not sure what I'll get.

Atarimae 09-08-2019 02:09 PM

sgregg ~ Here you go! Although I made TONS of adjustments, like using my homemade broth from Sam's Club rotisserie chicken bones, shredding the rotisserie chicken instead of cooking, no xanthan gum but more sour cream and mayo + some mozzarella instead, etc. Hope you get a chance to try it, or something similar! I was quite happy with how it turned out and would love to make it again.

Lacerta ~ I'm glad that you shared this! Now that I think of it, I tend to have a similar pattern. I just didn't expect the stall portion now; it's normally during my shark week :lol: wow, the personal info regarding yours seems awful. I can't imagine 5 WEEKS of it. :o

~~~
Well, now that football season is in full swing, hubby will be confined to the tv most of today, which means I'll probably have some time to meal prep, clean, and do some prep for work. It's such a pain to have to do the amount of prep needed for kindergarten! The kiddos will be having their first parent engagement event this week, so kind of stressing about that. I didn't do five days on/two days off this week...I did better! In other news, Lily's milk chocolate + almond butter...BEST combo, total guilty pleasure!
Candidcamster 09-09-2019 01:26 AM
Hey Wannabehealthy!! *hugs* It's been too long, I feel like going to the introduction area to post, in fact I think I will, and thank you for the welcome and for all the support you've given me!
Hi Lacerta - I've been in that nightmare for the past few years. I am a new mom to a beautiful 10 month daughter, and I had to resolve to do this for her. I don't want her to have to tell friends that she lost her mom young. I hate to sound so dour but I'm just being honest, obesity kills, we know that but our number one way of targeting it is body shaming. It's like wanting people to stop smoking by pointing out how it yellows your teeth & makes you smell like smoke instead of it causing cancer and respiratory issues. We don't properly take it serious, nor treat it as a medical problem and we should. That said, I allowed myself some fro-yo tonight with toppings of walnut & a macaroon and a little bit of peanut butter cup (real healthy I know). My day was light other than that indulgence, I was mindful but I erred on the side of caution to assume I ate at around maintenance for me which is around 2,500. I will not make processed sweets a habit.
yangtzer 09-09-2019 07:53 AM
Rest day yesterday. So I ate a lot 😋 I should start to watch what I eat today. Joe
Total Loss for Week Two:
Little whoosh today, new low almost a pound lower than my old low, so that was nice. Even more because I usually don't lose weight before the 10th of each month, so any loss ahead of that is always welcome. I really want to see a big loss this month, after quite a few months of small losses, I'm ready to make a bit of a push, so a head start before the 10th is really nice to see. Probably because I worked a long shift on Saturday, which got us caught up enough that I'm not as stressed this month. More work hours but less time crunch, so less stress. We'll see if I can hold onto it and end the week still in the 175s. Maybe I can even lose a bit more and end the week in the 174s. That'd be great.
Also, I'm basically halfway through "overweight" now. 0.4 more pounds and I'll be closer to "normal" than to "obese". That's a place I never thought I'd see when I was class 3 morbid obese. I thought I might be able to reach overweight, as I'd barely done it once before, but only by 1 pound. I never thought I'd even reach the 170s, let alone be seriously contemplating getting lower.
Total September Loss:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~
A slight gain in week one but that's to be expected when I've made no real change to my routine! Last night was a rough nights sleep since a burglar was ransacking the cars in the parking lot. We got a call from our friend saying it had happened so we might want to check the car so we did. Luckily nothing was stolen and the guy was caught, but the cats thought it was time to wake up so they were annoying from 5am onward! I was close to not going to work but I powered through, I'm a big baby when I haven't had much sleep :lol: I forgot to weigh in this morning (long story short). I felt less snacky today so hopefully that will reflect on the scale tomorrow.

Atarimae - That's pretty funny you guys will be glued to the TV! How come you're stressed about the event? I hope it goes well!

Lacerta - I started taking protein shakes a few years ago but stopped because it did a number on my stomach. I know you mentioned you had intestinal problems too, maybe we're not built for those shakes?!

sgregg - That is quite the unusual meal! Well done for sticking on plan.

Lacerta ~ Late night dinners definitely cause those slight gains. I know that all too well. You're doing super well! :carrot:
Rie ~ This is the first parent involvement event I'm doing at this school. Just unsure of how involved they are, and would hate to see the kids cry if their parents don't show. :( Glad your car and belongings were safe! I'm a baby when I lack sleep too...:lol:

I really don't think I ate enough yesterday. :o I swear it feels like there are some days in which I under-eat (not intentionally!), and it negatively affects the scale. Haha! It's just on work days, my schedule is just too weird. 10:15 for lunch is way too early!

Pine 09-10-2019 12:46 PM

Hello all,

My goal for September is at least one stone, ideally a bit more.
Yes it's ambitious, but I want a good kick start to get me motivated to 'keep on keeping on'.
Lots of nice clothes in my wardrobe I can no longer fit into, if I could get back into some of those by the end of the month, I'll be well chuffed.

Starting weight this month: 226.7 lb
Today's weight: 218.1 lb
Goal for end of September: 210 lb

sgregg 09-11-2019 07:25 AM

Good morning, friends!

Pine, welcome to our thread!

Atarimae, I agree...10:15 is early for lunch. I had a year like that before...sometimes I just waited until planning to eat my lunch because it fell during actual lunch time. Do you eat breakfast? I would probably eat a big breakfast and then just skip lunch...kinda make up for the calories at breakfast and dinner. Maybe have a small healthy snack to hold you over until dinner time? Thanks for the recipe!

Gardenerjoy, looks like you are making some progress! Keep it up!

Lacerta, good job on getting to 175! Hopefully, you'll be seeing that again soon!

Yang, great job on avoiding the binge eating...it's hard some days.

yangtzer 09-11-2019 07:27 AM

sgregg: Thanks, I hope so too

Pine: Welcome and good luck with getting a nice starting drop

Atarimae: Thanks. My long work days are when I struggle with schedule too.

gardenerjoy: Nice drop today

Riestrella: Mine seems to be settling down somewhat. I think it has been more than just the shakes and was kind of a perfect storm of everything. Glad you didn't have anything stolen, but that sounds like a rough night.

{Current Weight: 151.9} {Loss: -0.9}
September goals ~
1. Weight: below 150!
2. Meal prep: weekly batch cooking for the week on Saturday and Sunday!
3. On plan: minimum 5 days a week {no maximum, but I won't beat myself up for not having a perfect week!}

Week 1 {9/4}: 152.8
Week 2 {9/11}: 151.9
Week 3 {9/18}:
Week 4 {9/25}:

Previous week's recap: I cooked way too much this weekend. Which means very successful on the meal prep! Makes up for the less than stellar first week, and hubby approved what was made...minus the fish, which is only seasoned with salt and pepper to my grandma's taste (we're her caretaker, so I cook for her too, most times). Also was on plan for 7 days in my previous week, which makes 9 days in a row today. As much as I'd like to say it feels super good, it's really just the same haha! I did have 3 cheetos and 3 animal crackers yesterday though, which was like more than 1/4 of my daily allotment for carbs. It was worth it; I managed to keep my dinner lower carb with the chicken divan.

~~~
Welcome, Pine!
sgregg ~ I'm still trying to figure out what works best for my body! I love that suggestion, but I'm that person who values sleep over making breakfast hahaha! I've found it easier so far to pack two smaller things for lunch. I eat one at 10:15, and the other either during our 12:45 recess or after school. Still not a consistent thing though.
yang ~ :hug: Don't sweat it! As long as you get back on the right track, you'll be fine! Totally been there!
Lacerta ~ Maintenance is always a win in my eyes! So close to the 175.
I am hungry all day. Maybe I need to up my food intake. Joe
Candidcamster 09-12-2019 06:34 PM
Hey everyone, I wish I had posted sooner, my past 3 days have been rough:
Day 1 of 3 - was on track, snacking a bunch but tracking, then let "dinnertime" hunger overwhelm me and overate.
Day 2 of 3 - Started out good but we went to Big City Wings (this wing restaurant here) for b1g1 wings special, then just went off the rails the rest of the evening.
Day 3 of 3 (yesterday) - Started out fine, my partner and daughter were planning to go to the park but it was foiled, and instead we went to the mall and made some less than stellar food choices.
Now I weighed in today, 3 days brought on 5 lbs of regain, today's weigh in was 303.4 9 lowest since challenge started was 298.4 (which I believe I hit on the 9th). I'm back on track. The number 1 thing is I want a healthier lifestyle because naturally a smaller body will follow, but I will be healthier, so I'm not going to be as strict with myself, but I won't make a point to eat poorly either.
Lacerta 09-12-2019 07:33 PM
Yangtzer: Rather than just more food, you probably need more food that keeps you full. That would be protein, healthy fats, and fiber. If you eat more of those things, you'll stay fuller, longer. Also, way to go on your blood pressure.
Candidcamster: On the upside, I 100% guarantee you did NOT eat an extra 17,500 extra calories in the last 3 days over your maintenance. So most of that 5 pounds is going to be water weight and actual weight of food. Get back on track and you'll likely have a big drop as most of it falls right back off.
I'm eating green smoothies (topped up with a bowl of salad veg or a handful of nuts) all day every day. It's very low in calories but I'm not hungry (it is boring tho). I guess its all the fibre and liquid filling me up. Why not add a green smoothie to your day, or switch one meal for a green smoothie (like breakfast). Just a thought.
Today's weight: 217.6 (15 st & 7.7 ib)
My BMI's come down 1.5 points so far this month. I'll be pleased when I'm under 35
Atarimae 09-13-2019 04:54 AM
yang ~ Definitely consider doing something that'd work long term for you! I'm not a "diet pusher" so to speak, but if we're talking about feeling satiated, I'm really enjoying keto. I suppose the main struggle is the carbs and sugar if that's something you enjoy, but I also found that 5 days on plan and 2 days off plan can still keep me in maintenance! Also, since it's the "new fad," it appears there are many people out there trying to educate others on the plan and even help out with recipes and companies that even have sweets catered toward the lifestyle! It's really been a slow and steady thing for me since April, but it's help shed everything I've lost so far! (And I do the lazy and dirty keto method, where I mainly focus on very low carbs without macro tracking, and I don't look for all of the clean/organic options...admittedly mainly due to cost.)
I convinced the hubby to go to Costco with me today, so I was very excited to stock up on some food. :carrot: I actually think with our run, we may not have to make a grocery run (apart from fresh veggies) for the remainder of the month. Although I'm slowly but surely running out of my keto ice cream (that costs an arm and a leg at Whole Foods!!! x_x), so once the approved sweets run out, I suppose I'll trek there. Hopefully I can hold out for awhile longer. :P
Got a new low again today. That puts me at 92 pounds down and officially closer to "normal" than to "obese". Yay!
Thank you Lacerta! My family and I have a walk in the park planned on Sunday, I'm excited to get outside again.
I'm actually really happy with this morning's number. I had 2 pieces of pepperoni pizza yesterday and was still only up 0.2 pounds. Happy to see that. This was a good week for me even with the first 3 days being busy ones. If I can continue at this pace, I will make my goal for the month. I'm going to set my goal for next week to see a 173.x at least once during the week.
Total September Loss:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~

My boyfriend has been having a hard time this week, which has resulted in me feeling stressed as well. He's not good at compartmentalizing and tends to drag me down with him unknowingly. He's doing better now that he's close to completing a work deadline. I've ended up with a cold yesterday so took the day off from work. I probably could have gone in, but I needed a mental health day after the stresses of the week. Looks like the weather is gonna hold out being hot until October, which is a shame because I'm really in the mood to run! It's just too hot for me I probably wouldn't make it very far, haha.

Weight has been holding steady around 190/191 lbs this week, which is a minuscule drop but I'll take it :lol: Hanging in there even though I'm worn out mentally and a bit physically too! Gonna sign off here, sorry for lack of personals today but I'm suddenly feeling really run down :(. Time to rest up!

My blender blew up*
So after nearly a fortnight of green smoothies, I can't do this anymore. Secretly relieved, I was getting so bored of them!
So next week it's on to pescatarian keto. Didn't have any of the stuff I needed for that in stock today, so instead I've had a pretty healthy vegan food day, while upping my caloric budget to three quarters of my daily requirements just for today (as I really wanted to eat some food).

B = bran flakes with raisins, banana chips and soya milk
L = wholemeal toast and tahini
D = spicy beans, mashed potatoes and corn on the cob

T = 1700 kcal, with a deficit of 250 (or so cronometer tells me)

Tomorrow I may water fast so I can get into ketosis quickly for Monday. Looking forward to trying it, never done it before.

Weight this morning same as yesterday. I expect I'll put on half a pound or more tomorrow though.

*ie: burned out
