I weighed before and after changing the batteries in the scales and both readings were the same so I guess I'm retaining water.

Skullarix, a pound is a whole pound, 52 pounds in a year! It IS awesome, and it's better than going the other way...
  • Hello lovely 3FC-ers! I'm just dropping in to let you know I'm doing okay and cheer you on with your journeys. I lost 30 pounds since Christmas doing low-carb and then a month ago, I had to incorporate soluble fiber into my diet to manage my IBS symptoms. So I started eating steel cut oats in the morning and the odd sweet potato. This meant my weight went up slightly so I'm now at 166, but I'm almost symptom free so that's the important thing. My dietician is guiding me. I still want to lose more weight but it will come off much more slowly now. Keep up the great work, everyone!!!

    Total Loss for Week Two:

Today is the end of my stressful time at work for the month, so hopefully I drop back down a pound or so in the next couple of days. Got a start on it today.

Haven't really had time or energy to post much this week, but I've read all the posts and it is so nice to see so many familiar faces returning and new faces joining. May was sort of a slow month around here, so it's nice to have some company again.

It's good to be back, Lacerta!

Back down again. The weather's looking a bit wild and stormy for the rest of the week so I need to get some walking in today.

  • Thanks for starting this thread, GardenerJoy! I only lost -.4 in last months challenge. Good Luck, Everyone!

    SW: 201

I ended up staying the same weight by the end of the month. 06/30/2019.

  • Before I get started, I'm going to have to skip personals for now because I have to leave in about 5-10 minutes to run some errands and head to an eye exam. (I was told I should probably get glasses a few years ago, but it wasn't an absolute must, so I always put it off. We'll see if that's changed any today...lol.) I will try to come back on here later this evening.

Okay, so for the check-in...after three days in a row of being completely on-plan with no late night binging, I got a whoosh as a reward for those efforts! Weigh-in was 200.4 today, and that's even with TOM going on, so I'm happy with that. Still a far cry from where I was, but it's progress and the scale is finally moving in the right direction again. It's definitely great motivation to stick to the plan, and I think it will help overcome the urge to eat everything in sight at night. Mondays and Wednesdays are the hardest days of the week for me because I wake up so early for class, so I end up breaking my IF window and eating breakfast early. That makes it tough to not be hungry in the hours before bed, so I just plan having a snack extremely carefully. So far, so good...I was able to keep it mostly at bay last night (I had a couple extra small things because I was still hungry, but it still fell within my overall calorie range), and I'm hoping it stays that way. Hope everyone else is having a great day today!

    Amazing whoosh, Ophelia!
I hope you're getting your energy back, Lacerta. It's always intriguing how your weight loss matches your workload.

Down a pound today. I had a meeting with my dissertation supervisor yesterday and by the time I'd walked to his office and to two of the university libraries, which are in opposite directions, I'd done over 10 000 steps. I have to go back into the city today for a meeting with my second supervisor because they emailed me last night and have thrown me for a loop by inviting me to join a research project and use my part as my dissertation. Given that I submitted a protocol in February for my first dissertation idea and submitted the protocol for my second dissertation idea only last week (the first had to be ditched because I couldn't find a stats supervisor), they can tell the department head if I change again! I'm so behind compared to the people who submitted in February and started straightaway, but this project will be published so in the long run it'll be useful.
  • I don't weigh-in on Wednesdays so there's no update on that, but I figured I would come on here and catch up in the meantime since I didn't get a chance to come back on here last night!

    ------------------

darius: That's what I'm focusing on right now, as well. I know how it feels to cycle through losing and gaining a lot back (even all of it a couple times!) and then trying to lose it all again. You just have to keep getting back up every time you fall...we can't let setbacks hold us back permanently. We'll both get there, we just got to keep taking it day by day and make the best decisions we can whenever we can!

Skullarix: I agree with Newlyn...a pound may not feel like much, but it adds up quickly and is still progress in the right direction!

Follena: Glad that you're doing well and dropped in to say hello!!

Lacerta: I hope you're able to get some rest and recharge a bit now that the hard part of the week is over!

Newlyn: Thank you, and nice loss for you as well!

  • Hi opheliaphoenix great woosh you had! Thanks for the words of encouragement. I want to try IF sometime - I used to do it off and on when I lived in Japan some years ago and had good success, but I have become a Type II diabetic in recent years, and now I get these scary low blood sugar events and I have had to start carrying emergency glucose with me. I can't fast for a day. One thing I did have to do though was stop eating white bread which was probably my single most favorite thing in the world.

I ate very salty pizza that I didn't enjoy at all and the result is a big water gain. I drank a litre of water last night - so thirsty! - and I'll keep drinking today to try and lose it again.
  • I just started my weigh loss journey (again), and I just have to say going through this post has been inspirational!! To see women who started where I am now crush their goals is amazing!! It's the push I need to get through the week. Thank you, ladies!

(I also gave in a brought a scale. It was bumming me out working out so hard these two weeks and not knowing if there was change. I'll edit my post tomorrow to join in with my starting weight--better late than never, right? )
