April Exercise Challenge

I really dropped the ball the last few months. I have a walking 5K at the end of April, so my goal will be to get in shape for it by walking 30 minutes a day four times a week. Monday April 1: 30 min Saturday April 6: 30 min Mon Apr 8: 30 min Tues Apr 9: 30 min Fri Apr 12: 30 min Sun Apr 14: 30 min Mon Apr 15: 30 min Mon Apr 22: 30 min Sat Apr 27: 60 min |
Monday's workout was solid - 55 minutes of heavy weight-lifting, 45 minutes of cardio, 15 minutes of stretching.
Today's workout was also solid effort - 40 minutes of heavy lifting, 50 minutes of cardio, 10 minutes of abs and stretching. I am traveling the rest of this week and won't (formally) workout, but do expect to do some leisurely walking on the weekend. My "goal" for exercise this month is to make sure I am getting in 3 x solid workouts every week and try to add in the odd hour or 2 of walking in the evenings (now that they are getting longer and spring is coming!). |

Back to the gym, today. Lifted weights for about 35 minutes (my back really did poop out during my deadlifts and my T-bends. Sigh). And I did cardio-step for 50 minutes and a quick 10-minute ab/stretch at the end.

I am now back from all of the travels I had to do the first 2 weeks of April. Yesterday, I started my spring training routine - more heavy weight-lifting and less cardio. So, going forward, my exercise schedule should look like this: Mon/Fri - heavy weights, plus abs, plus stretch Wed - heavy weights, plus cardio Sat/Sun - long walks (hikes as soon as the weather permits) |
I am on-track!
Mon - heavy weights plus stretch - complete Wed - heavy weights, plus abs, plus cardio - complete Friday I will repeat Monday. And Saturday I have a 2- to 3- hour hike with a hiking group scheduled. |

I am nicely sore, today....this means my heavy-weight sessions are working! Again! This is good news.
I hope to feel the drop in my appetite from reducing my cardio. This will help with fat-loss, too. Tomorrow is my "double day" - I have to get in all of my weight-lifting PLUS a cardio session. Doable. |
