Hi, think i'll jump back in again this month, although sorry to say it's the same old boring story for me - maintenance. Well i'm not bored with it, but it's not too exciting to report on!
It's still a very active process though so it's not as if i'm thinking about my diet any less.

I've been less restrictive over Christmas as part of the plan, then I went trekking for 8 days, so didn't have any choice but to eat what I took with me. I came back at a good weight and went back to a good diet for a couple of weeks, but the last couple of weeks has seemed a bit more of a struggle and I've been wanting to eat things that haven't bothered me in the last 12 months, and I have eaten some of them (although my weight is still where I want it to be) - so i'm a bit scared that i'm at the start of a 'test' where it would be possible to go either way, hence it seems a good idea to crank up my posting here again!

Thanks for starting up February's thread gardenerjoy.

Welcome back ange and way to go on maintaining AND on recognizing when you need to be posting again. You got this, girl!

I thought a lot about where to set February's goal, because it is a shorter month, but I have a couple of big mile markers that are probably JUST out of reach for February. I think I'm going to go for hitting the 75 pound marker and try for those big ones next month.

Ok, I'll join. My goal for this month is to cut 17,500 calories since I'm trying to avoid my frenemy (the scale). Good luck everyone, lotsa veggies!

Hello.
Because I got a bit lax at the end of last month's challenge I decided I better sign right back up for this month's. I won't put quite as large a goal though so it is a bit more attainable. Gotta stay positive after all :) Since I won't have the beginning diet surge, I'm going to reach for one pound lost each week.

Given the disaster that was January, I'm setting a lower goal for February.

'Lost' 1lb overnight :)
Been fairly strict for last two days, so think this is the legacy of that. However it's Friday!
I like to be low-ish on a Friday if I can, so that I feel I can indulge a bit more without feeling guilty at the weekend.
I'm happier through the day when i'm more strict - so why do I think the 'indulgencies' which are great for about 2 seconds only, are a treat?? Anyway. Whatever. Why can't the brain just latch on to the long-term stuff and stop trying to trick us with the short term rewards?!

Hmm, I'm sensing a connection: I was at home for 6 weeks and hardly lost anything, then I went back to university and lost 2 pounds in a couple of days. You'd almost think that being active all day with no time for eating chocolate while sitting on the sofa helped with weight loss...
Anyway, I've (finally) lost 30 pounds!

Good morning one and all.
Newlyn congrats on 30 pounds!! Here's hoping university life gets you the next 30!
ange: I hear you ... short term pleasure of our favorite junk food just doesn't outweigh the long term result of weight gain. I keep losing and gaining the same 40 pounds ... maintenance is just as hard. :rollpin:
MrsDeenz: :welcome2:
Lacerta: love all your goals and the thought you put into this journey. Hope you have a great month

February is going to be a weird month for me. I have 12 days of normal before I get on a plane to Costa Rica. Mini goal is to get to 169 by February 13th which, for my height, is top of healthy weight range. I'm quite small boned so I have a long way to go yet. If I eat like my sister and her husband while in CR, I'll lose a couple pounds. They eat a lot of salad, they eat small portions and my brother in law will have one maybe two drinks per day while my sister not at all. So that's a pretty easy crowd!! :cp:
Good luck to everyone, let's be really good to ourselves this month :grouphug:

Welcome everyone, both returning faces and new ones. Good to see so many people in here.

Follena: Thanks. The minigoals are what keep me motivated.

Newlyn: I'm just the opposite. I do best when I'm at home, so I tend to lose all my weight on the weekends, when I can be on my schedule.

No real change for me all week, but hopefully I get a drop in the next few days over the weekend, like I have the last few weeks. I had a really late dinner last night, so I'm not surprised to be a little bit up today.

Down a smidge - opted for yoga class and supermarket run last night, instead of sitting around watching tv and drinking wine. Felt a bit hungry in the night, but rewarded by scales this morning and scoffed a banana before the gym this morning which I don't normally do til after.
Off to cricket tonight though, so will definitely need a wine or two to keep me entertained there. The rain had better sort itself out before then too.

Follena - great that you can just follow your family's eating in CR - although might be hard for you mentally if they're just being 'normal' and you're being 'good' and they don't realise you're doing it tough
Lacerta - loving your attitude and progress these whole past months. You're a textbook-perfect guide to dieting :)
Newlyn - wow 30 lbs is a solid effort. Fantastic that you've pulled through the tough times and are still motivated and getting on with it. Good luck with carrying on carrying on now you're back at uni
MrsDeenz - hi! Love it when a lurker un-lurks! Great you're here!
Hi VickiLou, Kdmay5, frustrated 101  wishing everyone lucky weekend self-discipline vibes! Have a good one.
