I've changed my goal to 202. I want to make Onederland by New Years, but this challenge ends 10 days before that. At the time it started, I was still ahead of schedule, but my plateau set me back, so now I'm close to on schedule, but no longer ahead. So I changed my first day of winter goal to a more reasonable expectation.
Glad you figured out the spreadsheet, Nightkatt. I see you've already lost nearly 100 pounds from your highest, so a HUGE :congrat: on that. ange You really have this figured out. I hope that when I hit the maintenance range, I do as well as you. |
thanks Lacenta, yes, i'm really pleased that my head's still in it. It's been about 4 months now, and i'm enjoying maintaining more than dieting (which is quite a thing, since I actually enjoyed dieting when I was on a roll) - I still (bizarrely) enjoy moderating my eating in the main, but can also indulge sometimes too. My latest mission is fitness. And flexibility (yoga). So going fairly hard core at those now instead!! Will the self-improvement projects never end :D
|
I just added an additional column on the chart for Body Weight %, for those of you who are curious about not just progress toward goals, but overall progress.
Yay that everyone is showing some progress in the direction they want. And an extra shout out to flower1 and somedaysunny. You two especially are seriously rocking it right now. |
Lacerta Thanks! I'm really not doing anything crazy to lose weight, I guess because I'm so over weight any little change my body is like woahhhh whats going on lol

Thanks Ange. You're doing great with maintenance.
I was down 2.6 lbs this week and met my initial goal I set. I'm going to change my goal from 127 to 121 and will see how I feel when I get there. I hope everyone is having a great weekend. I was down this week, then up this week, and I ended up slightly up overall, but now I'm past my busy time for the week, so I'm ready to head down for the rest of the month.
|
i'm back from holiday 2 days ago. Had a great time and ate and drank the same as everyone else. So first time on the scales this morning and I've gained just over 4lb in 10 days. So that's about what i'd expect and my clothes are still fitting ok but I can definitely feel at least half of that has gone on to my waist! So the mission is to be fairly strict again until a week on Saturday (when I have a biggish night out planned), and hopefully by then the majority of the work is done and I'll go more slowly thereafter to lose the rest.
What could possibly go wrong?..... CW 115.1 TW back to 111 |
CW 113.7 today, so will stick that in the table for this weeks weigh-in (the joys of water-loss :) )

Way to go Newlyn. Within the week, you may have a lot of bouncing around, but looking at your weekly totals, I see a good, steady loss.
I was as low as 212.8 this week, but finished up the week at 213.6 |

CW: 112.4 Just 1lb up on my pre-holiday weight now, and 3 lb higher than the start of this challenge. I'd like to lose another lb before Christmas I think, to give me some wiggle-room, but to be honest that's just because I've seen lower on the scales and not because I think I need to lose more to look or feel better. I guess what I really want is for my new small clothes to continue to fit well. After the last holiday i'd definitely put weight on my waist which wasn't good, but I feel that's off again now, so in a good place :) |
I managed Thanksgiving pretty well! I didn't even reach my calorie limit! :thanks1: Hope everyone has had a good thanksgiving or if you don't celebrate I hope everyone had a great week regardless

Glad to see a few of us sticking around for the holidays, although I think somedaysunny and I might be the only Yanks around right now in this thread, who had to deal with Thanksgiving this week. Congrats somedaysunny on surviving the holiday meal on your terms.
I'm going the wrong direction right now and this wasn't a great end to my week (I got as low as 210.6 this week), but I was still down a pound from last Sunday, and losing a pound over Thanksgiving week is OK in my book. Also, I've been tracking my averages from Sunday to Saturday and I was down 2 pounds this week and 4 pounds from 2 weeks ago. So that's something to celebrate. My last few Mondays have been much better than Sundays, so hoping that trend continues tomorrow. I'd still like to end the month in the single digits, so I'm hoping yesterday and today was just bloat. I've had a bad cold since Friday night, so I don't know whether my current 212s are a reflection of that, or whether the prior 210 was particularly dehydrated, or what. But the next few days should tell. |
same as last week for me, which all sounds steady but the reality was that I had 3x overindulging days last weekend and have only just clawed my way back to where I was! Would still like to lose a smidge more holiday weight before christmas, but i'm going as hard as I want to, so not prepared to modify behaviour. Will just have to wait and see what the scales think. I"m away interstate for work for 8 days from Monday though, so out of normal routine again. I actually think i'll miss going to the gym which will be a novel emotion!! Typically when i'm away the first day sets the scene eating-wise, so I really need to be feeling disciplined at the start of the trip and the rest follows on.....

flower1: Way to go, continuing on track and so close to goal
Newlyn: Yay for the new low! Great job this week. ange: To be working at a rate that is comfortable and be able to maintain within a few pounds is the ultimate goal. Amazing job. Enjoy your upcoming trips. I had a pretty good week as well, 2.6 pounds down. Unfortunately, now I go into my busy week, which will be even busier because a coworker is in Mexico until Thursday. So I don't expect to lose anything this week at all, and wouldn't be surprised if I gain a bit. |

I was up ever so slightly this week, but given that I often gain a pound or two during my busy time at work, I'm THRILLED to be up just 0.2
With just 12 days to go until the beginning of winter, I'm definitely not going to make my goal, but I'm probably going to get firmly into the single digits and also probably down to my 60 pound mark by then, and I can't be unhappy with that. Newlyn: I went ahead and put your weights in the chart.. Hope you don't mind. I like seeing numbers filled in there, and yours are nice :) I hope you are feeling better soon. |
Also wanted to add that, of the 5 of us who regularly participated in this thread, ange has successfully maintained in her desired range, and somedaysunny, Newlyn, flower1, andI have all lost at least 10 pounds (and hopefully more in the next 12 days). I call that a successful season. Remember that if you can lose at least 10 pounds a season, that is over 40 pounds a year, which is nothing to sneeze at. Plus, this is the hardest time of year to lose, so bonus points to all.
And somedaysunny and flower1, you two are almost at your goal for the season. So extra way to go for you. |
Thank you Lacerta
I guess I'm over my slump, 278 even today, at least I hope so lol. My 5K was yesterday and boy am I sore! I made my 2 goals though, under an hour, 56 minutes 58 seconds, AND I wasn't last, there were 9 people behind me! |
Oh my goodness, I thought the 5k was today for some reason...I think because I worked all day yesterday, so today is Saturday in my head. So glad to hear it went well, great job on meeting your goals, that is a great feeling. And you are down to 278 even with your soreness. That means you made your goal for the season, :cheer3::cheer2:
|
yay us!!! Well done to the 10lb+ losers gang.
great work on the 5km somesunnyday fantastic to hear you came in under the 1hr mark (and were faster than a few others!) I'm still working away but should be able to get on the scales again on Wednesday. The night I arrived I went out with colleagues (and of course ate and drank too much), that was last Monday, and tonight i'm out with colleagues again, and will no doubt have a drink and a bar meal. The rest of the time I've catered for myself and been pretty good, so hoping for at least an overall non-gain out of it. Not done any exercise really though, so looking forward to getting back to that when I get home too. |
Thank you Ange and Lacerta!
|
back home. yay! And the scales are being nice. 111.3 this morning which is right back where I was before the previous holiday in November.
Feel like i'm back in that range too, so fairly confident its a real result. Tonight i'll go out for date night with hubby (and treat myself to food/wine), then he goes off to Germany tomorrow and i'll next see him in UK in a couple of weeks - this means that (Christmas parties aside) I should be in a pretty good situation to continue some good on-plan eating and bed down that number, until I head off to UK on 20th (and then proceed to put a few lbs back on again of course!.....) somesunnyday - would you sign up for another race some time? did you enjoy it? I used to do a few with a friend a few years ago and got quite hooked! |
I've gone ahead and started a new tab for the Winter to Spring, but I'm still working on it and I don't know how to make it private in the meantime, so hopefully it won't pop up first, but if it does, just change tabs, and just ignore it for now :)
ETA: Ok, I think I have it set up now, hopefully it still defaults to the first tab for everyone. I'll open up the challenge sometime next week, so anyone who wants to participate is welcome to put their name in for now. I really like these multimonth challenges, because they really help me see the changes in the long term, even if I don't see them day to day. |
nice one on the next challenge Lacerta. I like the long term ones too, since in theory nothing's really happening for me in the short term, but being in a challenge keeps me accountable to stick to my target range
|
110lb for me this week, so back to where i'd normally be looking to add a bit. Very happy, all is well, and the plan is to be 'good' for another 5 days til I head off overseas, and then will no doubt put a few lbs on whilst having fun at Christmas! (oops sorry, already said that earlier - anyway, it proves the plan hasn't changed!)
|
Ange I'll definitely do another one, I enjoyed it but it was just sooo cold, my lungs hurt for 2 hours afterwards lol I'll be waiting till Spring/Summer to do it again though, and hopefully finish it faster.

I keep forgetting about it... I haven't filled in this week yet because I'm on a different computer and can't sign into Google (because I can't remember my password!) |
Newlyn: No worries, I just like seeing the numbers.
somedaysunny: Yeah, a December one in a cold climate would be rough, especially for your first. Glad it didn't put you off doing another one. ange: I love that you have figured out how to still have fun and not gain weight. Keeping it within a set range seems to be a healthy, sustainable choice for you. As for me, I got down as low as 206.4 this week, which was great to see, but rebounded a bit and ended at 208. I'm actually going to put my weight in on Friday as my final, even though my normal "weigh in day" is Sunday, and then use that as my starting for the next challenge, which will be up at some point later this week. But if anyone wants to use their normal weigh in day, even though it isn't the official end of the season, that's totally fine as well. Whatever works for you. |
i'll be putting my final weigh-in number in on Wednesday this week (that's Tuesday for you North Americans!), because after that i'm away for about 4 weeks (with one day back home on 3rd). It's (hopefully) going to be at or off the bottom end of my target range due to the Christmas-wiggle-room strategy :)
Will wait til i'm back in the new year before joining the next challenge though, as i'll need to be doing some actions (like signing up to challenges) to get me back in the zone at that point probably. |
Hi everyone - I've been away for a couple of weeks and have gained a couple of pounds since my last weigh-in but overall I've lost 10 pounds which I'm really happy with.
Lacerta - I'd love to join another long-term challenge in the new year to get to my goal of 120.. Thanks for doing that. Congrats on your weightloss this challenge! Ange - congrats on your maintenance - well done. I hope everyone has a very nice holiday season and I hope to see you all in the New Year. |
Today is the last day of fall and first day of winter. Happy winter everyone.
My final weight for the challenge was 207.4, where I seem to be a little stuck at the moment, for a total of 12.8 pounds down for the season. Nowhere near my goal, and only an average of about 4 pounds a month, as opposed to the 7-8 pounds a month I was getting over the summer, but I'll still take it. I went through a 6 week long plateau that was still in place at the start of this season and have definitely slowed down since breaking through, but that is about 13 pounds in about 13 weeks, so a pound a week is still ok Winter seems to be the hardest time for me to lose weight. I just thought it through in another thread and realized that since I don't like to walk outside in the dark, I'm not getting as much exercise in with the shorter days, and also since I don't like many winter veggies, I'm not eating quite as well. Between both of those, I'm definitely having a rougher time right now keeping the scale moving. On the plus side, though, instead of letting that be a reason to slide into bad habits, I instead find myself frustrated by it, and looking for ways to be better. I've gone on some treadmill walks, which I don't like as well, but at least it gets some walking in, and I bought some frozen veggies to try this week (so far, not so good on flavor, but I am trying them). As long as I keep heading in the right direction, and keep the right mindset, I'm happy. :congrat: to everyone who made progress toward their goal, whether it was on the scale, on the tape measure, or even inside your head. The mental part of the journey is a big part, so even if the scale didn't do what you wanted, if you were able to make mental progress, that is great. I'm off to start up the next challenge. I hope you all join me. |

I've only lost 10 pounds this season, which is pitiful and overall I've lost nothing in the last 5 weeks. I'm not really sure where to go from here. I can just keep plodding on and try to minimise the damage over the holidays. |
Congratulations to everyone! We rocked Fall I would say! On to the next!
I surpassed my goal surprisingly, I believe I was going for 275 but thought that was stretching it too much so changed it to 280. I need to quit doubting myself, that's always been a problem of mine. |
