Catherine Rose: I'm glad that your family had a great time yesterday!

Ange: Great job maintaining while travelling! I would say your strict days actually helped offset the few "normal" days you've had since then quite well. And, congrats on the new low today!

momtopands: Thank you...and, good job staying in your new decade and on your drop this morning, as well! Especially considering all the stress you've been under, not to mention the lack of sleep. I hope everything goes more smoothly this week while you all comtinue to prep for Friday, and I also hope you're able to get some more sleep, as well!

Kim: Let us know how the macro change experiement goes...I hope it helps!

nicoley73: I'm glad you guys had a great time in NOLA!! I'm sure the little gain is mostly just some bloat and that you'll be back down in no time. I agree that a few extra days on the weight loss schedule is definitely worth the time you shared with your daughter.

Lacerta: Congrats on hitting 23 lbs down in just 3 months...that's great!

kfunk: Yes! We ended up going out, and it was delicious as well...lol. I saved half for today, so I think that helped a little. Plus, I had an inkling that he was going to end up wanting some Culvers frozen custard afterwards, so I'm really glad I went easy on the dinner, because it's really hard for me to pass on those cones! I'd never tried frozen custard before we moved here and had a place nearby that specializes in them, and it is soooo much better than frozen yogurt or ice cream! Those both still have their proper place and time, but I have been spoiled by the custard version now...lol.

SnowMama: Glad you're getting in a good read...I miss reading as much as I used to back in the day! I need to get back into it when I have the moments to myself instead of just getting caught up on reading stuff on things like Facebook so much.

GreyCX: Welcome!

-----------------------------------------

Weight held steady at 169.0 today, and that is totally fine. We did end up going out to eat for a Father's Day dinner with the kids afterall, where I had a veggie burger, fries, some chips and salsa, and even a little frozen custard on a cone afterwards! I also only got in one bottle of water all day - so only about 72oz - and I didn't do any workouts or hit my step count yesterday. I mitigated some of the damage from dinner by only eating half and saving the rest for tonight, so I at least stayed within my calorie range for the day. (I let my son have the other half of my fries with his lunch though, so the worst part of the leftovers is gone...lol.) So, maintaining for the day is just peachy for me, because that shows me that I can have a regular day out with everyone else and still keep a balance. Hoping that I stay down on the scale tomorrow after properly hydrating today!

Now I have some regrets...

Trivia night plus PMS. I'm getting strict for the rest of the week but it may not be enough for this week.

Snowmama- I am in the no loss zone with you!

Grey- I hope that you are able to flush out the bloat very soon. What type of plan do you typically follow?

Catherine
- What is the carb range that you aim for on a normal day?

Ange- Nice drop!!

Ophelia- Great job saving half for the next day!! We have Culver’s all over, I think I have had their version of a blizzard, but will have to try a cone the next time I have a craving!! I did a miserable job of hydrating throughout the weekend, but yesterday ended up getting in a bit over 100oz; today I am going to shoot for a full gallon.

Nicoley- PMS is hard but most of the water will flush itself out, you’ve got this!!

Start: June 1, 2018 ~ 252.2
Goal for the month ~ 242.2 (10lbs)
Current Weight ~ 249.4
Lbs to go ~ 7.2

6/1 ~ 252.2
6/2 ~ 251
6/3 ~ 251.8
6/4 ~ 251.8
6/5 ~ 250.2
6/6 ~ 249.4
6/7 ~ 249.2
6/8 ~ 248.2
6/9 ~ 248.2
6/10 ~ 248.8
6/11 ~ 248.8
6/12 ~ Did not weight
6/13 ~ Did not weight
6/14 ~ Did not weight
6/15 ~ 249.6
6/16 ~ 248.4
6/17 ~ 249.4
6/18 ~ 249.4
6/19 ~ 249.4

So I totally get that for the month I'm down and that's a good thing. But I'm still really frustrated by what I'm seeing. I've unfortunately been dieting for most of my life and I've never seen losses this slow. I don't really get it. I have way too far to go to be working so hard and seeing very little progress. I'm going to stick with the plan, but man is it driving me batty right now.

nicoley73: I had to make a rule -- no food at trivia night. Otherwise, the stress gets to me and I eat way too much. Even positive, fun stress makes me overeat!

Just a quick stop in today. Going to spend it stenciling our last name on every...single...item. He has to bring 8 pairs of socks and underwear alone! It's not hard, just monotonous. The scale went up a bit for me thanks to TOM and I went over on my calories a bit yesterday so i'm hoping it doesn't do too much of a number on my success these past few days. I'm still in my new decade and hope to at least maintain here if not lose a bit more by the end of week 3.

Momtopands My daughter goes to camp in a couple of weeks and I didn’t even think about putting her name on anything. Oops. I won’t be stenciling, but maybe some sewn or taped in labels? She’s been packing for weeks. Happy stenciling!

Ange82much How are you feeling overall about maintenance, now that you’ve got almost a month of it? You seem to be staying right in the zone you want to be, +/- less than a lb.

Kfunk6113 The no loss zone is so annoying! You have made such amazing losses and you’re so close to goal. Have you been tracking your daily weigh-in in an app? I think it’s so interesting to look at patterns and trendlines overall. It’s also a little bit funny that I can relate big swings to real life events. Oh yeah, that big drop was when I had too many glasses of wine at an event and was insanely dehydrated the next morning. Lol.

Nicoley73 Ouch, hope the scale cooperates for the rest of the week and it’s just a random spike. How is it so hard to go one direction (down) and so easy to go the other (up)?? I miss my early 20s metabolism..

Ophelia Woo hoo, welcome to the 160s! You’ve just about hit your Spring to Summer challenge and mini-goal #2. I’m so excited for you. Do you do anything specific to celebrate reaching goals? Or do you just set the next goal?

Lacerta Not looking too shabby this week!

Toomanydimples Sorry the scale is moving so slow for you. Keep up those good habits and I’m sure you’ll have a whoosh of epic proportions.

Catherine Those carbs will get you every time. Glad you had a nice Father’s Day!

GreyCX Once you get past the week or so of cravings you will feel so much better! You can get through it. I bet you do really well this first week. The first week was always my favorite on the scale and my least favorite in my brain. Lol.

nicoley73: I hope you're able to rein in the rest of the week to offset the gain so you don't have to beat yourself up over it...I still think it will be gone in no time!

kfunk: I hope you're able to get in your gallon today and that we will both see nice drops on the scale tomorrow!

Kim: What changes are you making to your macros? I forgot to ask yesterday. Still hoping that will help once your body starts to respond to the changes!

Lacerta: Nice drop!

momtopands: Hoping your TOM goes by smoothly from here on out and passes for you quickly!

SnowMama: I celebrated bigger goals in the past like getting to 50 lbs and 100 lbs lost, but I hadn't thought of anything for my mini-goal! Though, once I surpass this one, I will officially hit an all-time low, so maybe I will...I will have to let you know!

-----------------------------------------

Back up a bit to 169.4. Since I was actually a little low on calories, drank a gallon of water, and got in a good workout yesterday, I'm thinking it's either due to how sore I'm feeling today or just the balance of a slower week following a strong one. Or, both. Either way, just following the plan as usual and making sure I get in enough calories today, since I've been so busy lately that it's been hovering around the 1100 mark, other than when we went out on Sunday.

Thanks for asking SnowMama I can go all introspective and bore you with my ramblings now....

I feel like I haven't even started yet. Or I feel like I don't know what i'm doing. Or I feel really pleased that I've had 4 BIG CALORIE days back-to-back but it didn't really show, and now I feel pleased that I've wanted to go back to my basic diet stuff for a few days and enjoyed that and that the scale has dropped again (to 117.5 today). But then i'm worried that I shouldn't be pleased if it's dropped because i'm not supposed to want to lose any more.

So basically how I feel changes day-to-day. Sometimes I feel like I've been strict all year and I deserve a bit of indulgence - eg going out for a meal, or a couple of glasses of wine, and sometimes I feel like I want to carry on with the low calorie eating - so I suppose if you put those two things together then the outcome might be that I can do what I want all the time and the outcome is maintenance and the job's done, but I really can't 'settle' yet and am always wondering if i'm going too far one way or too far the other way. I think it's going to take a long time to get comfortable and not think about it much.

Overall though i'm still super excited that I got to this weight and it makes me happy all the time just to be here, so that's probably the best thing about trying out maintenance, I.e. just the fact that I'm where I want to be and I got rid of the extra kilos, and i'm in the position of being sort of 'half' on a diet. And i'm certainly trying to soak up this feeling because before I know it, either i'll get used to it and it won't be a novelty any more (best outcome) or i'll put weight back on...….

Kim- It is very frustrating indeed. In the past I was able to lose much faster with less effort, so I understand your feelings.Have you been taking measurements?

Lacerta- nice drop!!

Momtopands- that is a lot of stenciling, I am glad that you were able to figure it out!Hopefully yourTOM goes easy on you this month!!

Snowmama- Aww, thank you!!The only app that I have been using is the WW to track my points, but you bring up a good point!!Nice drop!!

Ophelia- My goodness, I have been having a terrible time getting in the full gallon! So far this week I have maxed out right around the 100 oz. mark.I hope you get a nice little whoosh today!!

Ange- I really enjoyed hearing your response to snowmama about maintenance, it is not boring at all to read about! It would be very hard to shift from a weight loss goal to a maintenance goal, such a fine line there.I definitely do not think you will end up gaining this weight back, and hopefully as the months go on you will be able to fine tune your approach. You are doing amazing!!! Casey ~ I'm on Keto. I asked a facebook group I'm in for their opinions and I had some saying that I might be getting too much protein. So I'm trying to get less protein, and keeping my carbs low that means I have to increase my fat to get my BMR of calories in. It's a lot of fat, and a lot of fat usually ends up making me feel sick to my stomach all the time, so I don't think it's something I would be able to sustain. Also dropped most dairy this week and nuts. Eating just meat, fats and green veggies all the time is not a way of eating I even remotely want to try to maintain, but I am testing it to see if it makes a difference this week. I don't know what I'm going to end up doing but I might have to reconsider Keto. A lot of people are incredibly successful on this way of eating, but not all bodies are created equal and I'm realizing that perhaps this isn't going to be the right approach for me.

kfunk ~ Exactly. At my size I'm not going to be able to mentally handle only losing maybe a pound a week. Most people don't have the patience for that when they are working hard to make changes. I don't want to get frustrated and give up, but we all know how easy that is when you aren't seeing results. I'll take measurements again on the 1st. I do feel like my clothes are fitting different and that's a good thing, but my goal isn't to be a slightly better shaped obese woman. You know what I mean.
