Good morning ladies!! I finished last night up strong. My husband just brought home a dozen donuts with the kids for some really stupid reason. I am pissed.

Anyways... I am going to make some scrambled eggs and enjoy my coffee.

I hope that you guys are doing well!! xoxox

kfunk are you upset because they're a temptation for you, or because it means everyone else is eating unnecessary rubbish? If it's just you, that's easy. You've already made your June decisions. Those donuts have absolutely nothing to do with you! And in fact help you in strengthening your resistance muscle (bit of Beck Diet Solution reasoning there!). So overall you can be grateful
And also set a great example about self-discipline to the kids! Think of it as an opportunity (i'm trying to give you the good side here lol!!). Seriously, you can have a donut in July, so just forget 'em.....

ange At first I was upset because he brought that many into the house. I haven't been feeling 100% strong, but am faking it until I make it. But then it annoyed me because the kids don't need donuts for breakfast 2 days in a row. He takes them out to get donuts on Saturday morning as a little ritual, its super cute. Usually they eat them at the donut shop. I moved the boxes to a corner in the kitchen that is out of sight and I made it through just fine!

You are right, anything can wait until July! Actually June 30th... we have an out of town wedding and if I am 100% on plan until then I am going to allow myself to enjoy a piece of the wedding cake!

momtopands How are you doing???

Sorry I never came back after Friday. Last week was quite aggravating. I worked Friday and Saturday nights and slept most of Sunday. I was able to stay on track, keep my calories within the expected range and I am now almost back down to where I was last Monday. It was my first time back at work since my daughter got back home and it was stressful. However I have cameras all over the house so I can check on them frequently.

kfunk I can completely understand the doughnut frustration. I have been craving some of everything and Krispy Kreme is on the way home. Thankfully I had no money for them so I was able to make it home after work both days without stopping! LOL!

ange My knees have always been an issue but since i gained all the weight they have been really bad. Now that i'm losing everything is easier but now it's my right knee that giving me problems. I haven't seen a doctor recently and my doctor of 17 years is retiring next week. What kind of doctor do you see for your knee issues? My health care has been put on hold with my daughter's issues. She is 13 years old and attempted suicide on Mother's day. She was in the hospital for 9 days and now she's back home. She's doing better than she was, though she has ups and downs as expected. She seems to be doing well in therapy right now which i'm very glad about. Overall I feel like we're all getting back to normal.

momtopands i'm really sorry about your daughter, that's really shocked me. You poor poor thing, it must be about the worst thing that anyone would have to cope with. So glad to hear that she's responding to treatment. But it still must be such a worry for you. Hope she continues to get better quickly. Keep us updated.

With the knee's I just went to a general GP once and since then the physio, but not sure if that was enough in hindsight. I think for you it would depend what you already know about your knee problem - i.e. whether you're after advice to manage it (physio ok - they can give you a load of exercises to do at home so you don't need to keep going back), or if you still need to figure out exactly what the problem is (get any doctor to refer you to a knee specialist).

kfunkthe wedding sounds like a perfect milestone to be aiming for. You'll be looking great! Do you know what you're going to wear? Well done you for avoiding the donuts.

Think I might take Wednesday and Friday in lieu this week as i'm working in South Africa from Sunday and will miss the long weekend over here and also the following weekend (therefore i think it's perfectly permissible to be writing in the Weekend Thread during the week!

momtopands It sounds like you had a fantastic on plan weekend which is not easy to do, especially not under so much stress. It sounds like your daughter is adjusting to her new normal. I hope that she continues to thrive in therapy. I didn't realize that she was quite so young, it is heartbreaking. You are such a strong mom and your daughter is very lucky to have you.

That really sucks about your doctor. Hopefully they will have a good recommendation for a replacement doctor. I am so lucky that I don't have chronic knee pain, but every now and then I will tweak my knee if I turn the wrong way and ohhh boy, ouch! Hopefully any remaining pain will lessen as you continue to kick butt!! Great job about avoiding Crispy Cream!

ange How long is the flight to South Africa? I am so proud of myself for avoiding the temptation, thank you for providing me with encouragement to fight through!! I have a black dress that I might wear, my legs need some work first though since it is pretty short. I also have another floral dress that I can wear if the black one doesn't pan out. I might post some pics for some honest feedback as it gets closer!

kfunk Flight to South Africa is about 12-14hr I think. The first flight-leg to everywhere is 12-14hr from here!! LA or Vancouver is about 12-14, South Africa is about 12-14, Santiago or Buenos Aires (S.America) is about 12-14, Middle East is about 12-14! Asia is a bit closer obviously, but it pays to need a good sleep or have some good books to hand when you get on a plane here! Even just across to Perth on the West Coast is a 4hr flight.

Yes, show us your wedding outfit options later! That would be cool!

kfunk Happy Birthday!!!!
My advice for your birthday is decide what YOU want to do, and do it. It's your day after all. If you want to be good with the diet, tell everyone that's your wish and they can like it or lump it (and maybe pack up some food to take with you). If you want the day off dieting, go to town, and don't beat yourself up about it.

Yep, I often travel with work. Not as much now as I have done at times in the past. I'm a technical specialist for a chemical company specialising in mining solids/liquid separation - so I often get to go to different mine-sites around the world to look at problems and do laboratory tests or field trials to find a solution. Been doing this job for ever, and kind of feel guilty about that, but it suits me so much that I don't want anyone elses job!

feel guilty about not changing jobs just because it's not cool to hang around doing the same sort of thing for 20+ years! Maybe guilty is the wrong word, perhaps 'slightly embarrassed' covers it better!

ange For what its worth, I think its pretty cool that you have been able to do something that you enjoy for the past 20 years!! How did the rest of your work trip shape up?

Its finally the weekend!!! Tonight will be no problem at all. We have a grad party tomorrow and I need to come up with a plan on how to navigate that. I *think* that I will have some eggs before we go so I don't have to eat any of the food that they are serving. Maybe even pack some healthy snacks for the drive since it is over an hour away each way.

Sunday.. though. We are going out to eat for Father's Day. Luckily, we are going for lunch and not dinner. I am not looking forward to the restaurant sodium gain that will put me even further back. I think I will close my eating window super early that day so I only have breakfast and the lunch out to worry about.

I hope that everyone has a fantastic weekend!

ok, I know you're all waiting with bated breath...….here's a pic of how my knitting turned out. it's better than I thought, but not perfect. Of course I underestimated how much the shoulders were going to hang down my arms, so the sleeves are a bit long, and the wool is quite heavy and the pattern quite stretchy, so it's super warm but kind of hangs and stretches the pattern on the shoulder after a while. Anyway, I like wearing it and it kept me entertained whilst making it for a bit. And I've paired it with the skirt I bought a few weeks ago which has also turned in to a wardrobe staple this winter!

Saturday negotiated, sort of. Moderate brekkie and lunch, but homemade pasta dish and a glass of wine tonight. All up not bad. Better than yesterdays overindulgence anyway. Think i'll have some 'making up' to do diet-wise next week, which might be a slight challenge since i'm working interstate.....
