Last night at the casino turned out pretty good. I was starving by the time we ate. The salad was great, as usual, and I did eat the flatbread. It was warm, and so good.
Today we went out for breakfast, but I had a small breakfast. Scrambled eggs with turkey sausage and sourdough toast. Then I made vegetable soup when we got home and I ate 3 bowls full. (cereal size bowls) There is some left over for tomorrow's lunch. I found some blueberries in the freezer, so I just had some with plain greek yogurt. So I feel very healthy today!! Ange82much, (I just love that name!!) my dog barks when someone knocks on a door on TV. Sometimes DH will knock on the table, just to get him started! LOL |
kfunk: Same here! I love when we do things as well, but it's always nice to have days off with everyone where I can keep to a usual routine, because it is just so much easier foodwise. And, great job sticking to your plan last night! :cheer3: (P.S. Hope you feel better tomorrow!)
Santa Clarita Diet: It's too late to give advice on the dinner tonight, because you're probably already there or even done, but - when I go out to places like that - I always take advantage of any salads they have beforehand to help pre-fill the stomach a little with a lower calorie variety (just go easy on any dressings) and make sure not to drink any calories - be that through water or a diet drink. I'm not sure how you feel about the aspartame in most diet drinks, but I don't mind one as long as it's not too often. Especially if it means that - on nights out like that - I can enjoy more of the calories from the actual food itself, lol. And, if you have a big portion, bring some it home for a leftover meal the next day! I find a lot of restaurant portions, unless you're at a rather upscale place with tiny portions, are plenty enough to split into two smaller meals. (Bonus that you get the delicious entree on two days instead of just the one. ;)) Try to minimize any complimentary bread that may be offered as much as you can...that's a known pitfall for me, so I make sure to plan for any bread in advance, because I know for a fact I won't be able to forgo it completely, so I fit it in to the meal plan and just indulge to a minimum. I hope you had a nice night out! :) ange82much: That walk sounds lovely, and I love the plan of bringing your husband with you and incorporating the walk there as part of an evening out with him. Great idea! Wannabehealthy: Sounds like a nice day, foodwise! ---------------------------------------------------- My first temptation for the weekend was some Girl Scout cookies that my husband brought back last night. He got Samoas and Tagalongs for himself and the kids, but he also got a whole box of Thin Mints just for me because he knows how much I love them! He was apparently going to get me some of the lemon ones to try as well, because he knows I love lemon everything - especially in dessert type stuff, but luckily the girl was out of those.... It was very sweet of him, but I definitely wasn't expecting it and typically avoid the troops every year when I see them lingering by doors of places when going in anywhere, lol. So, I'm just telling myself that it's okay to eat one serving, which is actually 4 cookies instead of the two I thought it was, and just fit it in to my calories for the day. Maybe, while I have them, they can replace my protein bar that I usually have with my coffee at lunch. Reminding myself that they will still be there tomorrow (even though I'm making sure to share these with the kids as well), so I don't have to eat the whole dang box in one sitting like I might be tempted to...I just get to eat them for more days instead of more at once. Just reframing how I think about it, and it sounds better to have a few days of Thin Mints instead of just one big afternoon of eating them all day until I'm sick of them. Haha. So, I think I found a healthy way to fit them in and not feel guilty about them. :) |
OK, it's half way through Sunday here. This morning I walked the dog then went for a bike ride for an hour. This afternoon was prepping walls and painting the ceiling and coving in the bedroom. Football (and pre-football pub) next, but it's absolutely chucking it down at the moment and due to continue, and our seats aren't undercover, so it's going to be pretty soggy. We walk to the ground (and pub) too so need to prepare to get wet. Food on plan.
kfunk6113 Thanks for the thread, it's good to hear what people get up to at a weekend, and the extra challenges to our willpower! Well done to you for sticking to your plan so far this weekend. Yes the outdoor cinema is great, it's in a nice grassy amphitheatre, and they hire out big beanbags that you can lie on, also you can take your own picnic/drinks (including alcohol) and pets! So it's very sociable, and only 15min walk away. Walking is (was) my thing til I got some injuries last year, so normally i'd walk a lot, especially at the weekend. In fact, if i can park the car up all week and never use it i'm super happy. For trekking remotely I use a garmin to measure the distance and route (and it has maps so I don't get lost!), but for local stuff I don't bother, i did have a fitbit a few years ago, but it must be at the back of a drawer somewhere. Maybe i should dig it out! wannabehealthy great work so far on your weekend discipline too. Lol re your dog. The doorbell isn't the worst of it at our place - ours starts full-on howling along when the phone rings. Like your house DH makes the phone ring on purpose for a bit of entertainment! She's very quiet usually - just the phone and the doorbell..... (oh, and next doors cat, if she see's it run across the wall). opheliapheonix sounds like you have a good plan regarding the cookies. I think that's the most important thing - having a plan - once you know what you're 'allowed' you can just stick to the rules and know you don't have to feel guilty about it again. santaclaritadiet Awww, sorry to hear you've been beating yourself up about slipping up a bit. How did you go afterwards? Are you back on track? |
wannabehealthy - GREAT WORK! I'm glad that you had fun at the casino, and kept your plans on track.
ophelia - Thank you for the great advice! I actually didn't get a chance to read it until after dinner, but will keep that advice for when we go out for dinner for our wedding anniversary in April. ange82much - Way to go with your food on plan! It sounds like you've had a fun and active weekend. Good for you! As for me, I've quit beating myself up about going off plan. I went WAY off plan yesterday evening, so all that I can do is move forward and learn from my slip-ups. So, the off plan dinner went way off plan, but my DH and I agreed that we would treat that dinner as a "last hurrah" before we get serious. I'm okay with that so long as some other last hurrah doesn't show up next week hahaha. --- Well, this weekend wasn't the best eating weekend for me, but you know what? I'm fine with that. Next weekend will be better, and so will the next weekend after that. I know what I need to do, so it's just about doing it. Small wins this weekend are that I did track all of my food in my food journal and drank more than 2 liters of water per day. I'm inspired by the Winter Olympics (and my indulgent eating) to go to the gym and start lifting weights again, so I'll do that today! |
carol I am glad to hear that the casino went well!! Vegetable soup sounds sooooo good!! Well done with your healthy eating yesterday!!
ophelia Thank you! I really love your idea about swapping a serving of cookies for your protein bar!! I also love lemon flavored things. I was bummed when they stopped making the lemon cream sandwich cookies! Do you ever freeze the thin mints? YUM! I think its really awesome that you are reframing your thought process so that you can enjoy them for many days instead of eating them right away! ange You had a very busy morning!! Great job getting a walk and bike ride in before painting!! I wish that we had an outdoor cinema like that, the more you talk about it the more amazing it sounds!! I have a fitbit that I want to dig out so that I can see how many steps my normal hour walk on the treadmill nets me. clarita I am glad that you are not beating yourself up!! I have lost track of all the times I have gone off plan during this past 15 month journey, but it sounds like you have a nice support system with your husband and that will make a big difference!! Great job getting in your water and tracking all of the food!! I came in at 1542 calories yesterday, the scale went up 1.2 lbs for no good reason, but oh well. Today I have 1246 calories planned which leaves me some wiggle room if I decide to get a small soft serve cone from DQ later. I hope that everyone is doing well today!! |
Hi everyone. I hope you are all having a nice weekend. I did fine all day yesterday with my eating and then in the evening I had popcorn which had a lot of sodium in it. I drank extra water and was up on the scale this morning. I feel quite bloated - amazing what sodium does to the body. This evening I will be having pizza which I haven't had in ages so it will be a treat (probably too much sodium again). The pizza place we order from has a gluten free crust so I'm going to try that and order a vegetarian. I also got in almost 8 miles on the stationary bike and then another 30 minutes on the treadmill yesterday. Today I'm taking the day off exercise or might do a 30 minute easy walk.
kfunk: you're doing awesome this weekend - keep up the great work ange: great job on all the exercise - that was a super long walk:) I also enjoy walking, especially on the trails. We've had a lot of snow lately so trail walking is not the best right now. ophelia: great plan with the thin mint cookies. santaclarita: Good job in tracking your food and getting in all your water. Hope you had a good workout at the gym. wannabehealthy: Your veg soup sounded really good - well done for staying on plan. |
flower I hope that you enjoyed your pizza! What did you think of the GF crust? I really like it at most pizza places!! Great job getting in 40 miles on the bike and 30 minutes on top of that!!
I was able to keep all 3 days within my calorie range! I want to thank you wonderful ladies for joining me, it made a huge difference!!!! |
