rosinante You are on pace to shatter your goal!! What have you been doing to drop?
|
Thank you for noticing, kfunk!!
I'm eating about 1400 calories - quite high on the carbs - and walking 10,000 steps. Seems to be working at the moment! :D |
rosinante That is awesome that you found a plan that works well for you!!! I need to get in some exercise, and I eat about 100 calories more than you do per day, but I don't limit my carbs at all. I also incorporated intermittent fasting and I can't say enough good things about that! My weight loss has slowed down to a crawl, but I think I need to be patient and consistent and cut down on the special occasions (this month I had 3 planned and declined the rest).

kfunk ~ it sounds like we're very much on parallel tracks! Well done on your losses!
I've done some intermittent fasting, was following 5:2 for a few months. I can't say I lost any faster or better but it did teach me all kinds of good things about delayed gratification ~ it's been a big help in all manner of ways. Currently I'm just plain calorie counting, and keeping an eye on the carbs in order to keep them up, which I know is positively unfashionable these days. I've been wrestling with a return of a beastly anxiety disorder for a couple of months, and I believe that carbs are best for mood. On we go! |
rosinante Thank you, well done on your losses as well!!!

How many grams of carbs do you shoot for per day? Its funny, because I lose much better when I don't limit my carbs. I hope that you are able to reduce your anxiety very soon.. I struggle with that too and it is hard. |
Hi kfunk :)
Yes, the 5:2 diet advocates eating up to 500 calories for 2 days and "normally" for 5. That's no good for me, whose normal can be pretty abnormal sometimes! So I worked out 1400 calories a day X 7 = 9,800. Subtracted 1000 calories for the 2 fast days = 8,800. Then divided the 8,800 by 5 for the 5 non-fast days = 1,760. The weightloss was no faster than 1400 every day but I certainly benefitted from the deferred gratification. I aim for 130g carbs a day, having been told that that's the healthy minimum for brain function. Anxiety's a pig, isn't it? The annoying thing is the only thing I'm anxious about is being anxious but it does tend to cling tight, and that really brings my mood down. Hope you're doing OK at the minute :) |
rosinante I love how you did the math to best suite YOUR body!! I just looked at my macros for the past week and I fluctuate pretty widely, but the absolute highest I have gone up to is 180g of carbs per day. It might be a coincidence, but it seems like I lose faster/more when I have a higher carb level.
Anxiety is a pig, you nailed that!!! I am the most anxious about the senseless violence and I worry that my family will get caught somewhere at the wrong place and time. In the past I was anxious about social interactions, luckily, that has faded away. I think if it wasn't for the dread that something awful might happen, I would be able to wean off of my medication. Hope that you are doing well!!! I think its just you and I in here at the moment. SW: 184 CW: 174.8 (-9.2) GW: 156 |
Weight update!
SW: 323 CW: 307 GW: 298 16 lbs lost! 9 lbs to go! If I reach my goal before new years, I'll just add another 5lbs to my goal. :) |
California Holy smokes, you are doing AMAZING :carrot:

kfunk, anxiety's a mystery, isn't it? I've had it twice before, 2013 and 2015 (it came on after successful chemo in 2013) and didn't have medication for it. This time, I just couldn't bear the thought of the struggle and asked for meds (Sertraline, which I think is Zoloft). My mood/anxiety improved fairly quickly at first but this is not a particularly good week, which in turn makes me anxious.....and then I don't sleep properly, which makes me anxiouser!! I'm only in Week 9, and I read that a lot of people are into their 3rd month before it really settles. Here's hoping!
I was anxious for decades about social interactions but just assumed that was me being shy. That's faded away by itself. I was depressed for decades because of long-term singleness and loneliness but that's faded away too, I'm happy with my life. All I'm anxious about is being anxious! Argh! Oh well, at least we can be slimmer, even if still anxious!! :D |

rosinante You are so close to your goal, get it girl!!! Congratulations on being a cancer survivor, that is huge!! I had Lymphoma about 9 years ago and actually put on a great deal of weight during Chemo. I hope that you see a difference in the meds within the next month. It is frustrating that some medications can take so long to take effect. I hope that you had a great Thanksgiving!!
