Forming New Habits - 21 Day Challenge

It works like this: you will challenge yourself with ONE new habit for 21 days straight, every single day, something you need to work on for your dieting success. Then you count ....one through 21.....and if you flub it 3 times, you MUST go back to zero and start over again. Everyone will be on different days. You can start anytime.

Your flub day does not count as one of the 21 days, I write in "Pause". The day after a flub day you start counting again and hopefully make it to day 21 before having 3 flub days.

In any case, the trick is to keep going. The momentum builds and it's great incentive to stick to your guns, cause if you don't.........back to START you go. And the really great thing about this challenge is that you are forming new habits that will wipe out the old! AND, you get to do it with a great bunch of really supportive people to whom you are accountable!

There is NO shame in starting over. Remember, it's not over till you give up. And our motto around here is:

NEVER GIVE UP!!...Just start OVER!!

I restarted this challenge, because I need it! One of my worst lifetime food habits is snacking and particularly snacking after dinner.

So my habit to change is NO snacking after dinner. Tonight will be Day 1. Wish me luck:dust:

and join in with one habit you would like to change!

Day 1 - Success :cp: and I am 1/2 pound down from Yesterday's weigh in, YEAH, going in the right direction.

EagleRiverDee 09-12-2017 12:51 PM

Good job, Diana! Does this mean you adopt one new habit per day (so 21 new habits over the course of the 21 days) or just one new habit that you practice for 21 days straight?

workinglikeadog 09-12-2017 07:40 PM

Hi Dee, It means pick only one habit to work on, and if you can do your new habit for 21 days (so just one new habit that you practice for 21 days straight), you are well on your way to a permanent new habit. Hope you'll think about joining me.:carrot:

workinglikeadog I am going to join you!! I love this premise :) I almost joined this morning but then changed my mind because I didn't feel ready to give it up yet, but its time, I am going to give up diet coke!

Great job on day 1!! how has day 2 been? What time do you normally eat dinner at and what time do you usually go to bed?

Day 1: done!

workinglikeadog 09-13-2017 11:12 AM

kfunk, Giving up Coke is a great habit to achieve. I did that about 10 years ago and am sure my body/bones are most grateful. Today I occasionally drink Kombucha or naturally flavored carbonated water, neither is a daily habit.
Good luck on Day 2, you CAN do it! I end dinner around 6pm and go to bed around 10:30pm.

workinglikeadog 09-13-2017 11:17 AM

Giving up PM snacking
Day 1 - Success
Day 2 - Success - That rapidly gained weight is coming off fast! I am two pounds less than Tuesday morning weight in. This gives me great incentive to continue with this new habit.:cheer3:

kfunk6113 09-13-2017 11:59 AM

workinglikeadog congrats on making it past day 2!! That is awesome that you are dropping so quickly!!! I usually don't have time to eat dinner until later and then I go to bed fairly early so there isn't much time for me to get hungry, thankfully.

Do you have other things you want to tackle after you have mastered this one?

jessiegreene 09-14-2017 09:04 AM

I love this, I am having such a hard time not giving in to sugar at work.

so my new habit is to follow through with NOT eating sugar/processed foods.

DAY:
1) 252.8
2)
3)
4)
5)
6)

WHAT one habit if changed would help YOU to lose weight?

kfunk, how did day 2 go at giving up diet Coke? Don't let a flub/Pause Day slow you down.

jessie,, What a great challenge to give up processed sugar. We all eat to much cause it is in everything. Are you starting with just not eating it at work? How did day one go?

Giving up PM snacking
Day 1 - Success
Day 2 - Success
Day 3 - Success - although I almost ate a piece of fruit right at bedtime. Thankfully I was mindful enough to put it down.

WHAT one habit, if changed, would help YOU to lose weight? Come join the challenge!

jessiegreene 09-14-2017 03:18 PM

I don't even have sugar at home but at work its always in my face and I give in at times.... today has been successful so far!! 1 1/2 hours left to go

I still need a fall exercise routine, so that might be a good challenge.

I'm eating to much during the day, will have to think about making eating more mindful & healthy. There may be another good food challenge, will have to think about it.

Have you already thought about your next challenge?
