Hey chicks, sorry, life is crazy right now! I already work a full time extremely stressful job, and I also sell real estate. Right now I am juggling 5 RE deals, mentoring a 5k program, working every day, dealing with my FIL who is 94 and struggling and trying to keep my house clean and the hubs and dogs taken care of. But, I am eating well! LOL

Lurch- I have used Lose It was well. It was easy to use. My question always is, Should I actually eat the amount they say. It always seems to high. You may also be right about the cardio thing. Running really burns some calories, more than walking. Maybe I will get out for a quick run this morning while it is cool.

MM- I know your life is crazy. I have less than two weeks before mine gets crazy again. I enjoy not working so much. Wish I could retire. SOmeday right??

Ate 1500 calories yesterday (MFP goal 1750)
12,000 steps (walked)
185.2 today (same as yesterday)

Putting it out there on record. Help me look for any patterns girls.

Mindy, on MFP, you have to go to settings and then diary setting, there is a tab for sharing, then chose your sharing option to public or friends only if you want us to be able to look at it. I'll get back to faithfully logging everything today. Did you find out what you are teaching this year? My son is back to work. He teaches 9th and 10th grades. The kids started 2 weeks ago and he had to be back the first week in August. It was nice to have him home for a few weeks this summer though.

Lurchmomma, Never tried Loseit, but if it works for you, great! I love the sounds of that work schedule.

PQ, Enjoy the return to schedule. I envy your canning! I can venison every fall and have canned spicy green beans, but that's about it.

My last free weekend.....

I haven't been getting much exercise this week, so been cutting calories a little more. I've been doing intermittent fasting (14/10 and 16/8), skipping breakfast and going straight to lunch. It helps me stay within my calories for the day and not feel deprived.

Lurch I was in your neck of the woods yesterday at CC Winery.

Mavis I canned jalapeno hot sauce yesterday, and it is HOT!

W - 1 liter
E - a little gardening, housework
E - on plan
d - organize for school

mm- I went in and changed my settings so you should be able to see it. You are currently my only friend on MFP. We start after Labor Day in Michigan, although some districts got permission to start early this year. Not sure why. I will go in 1 or 2 days this next week just to check things out and unpack a little.

Here is my daily check in stats.

Food-1726

Hello Ladies!

PQ: I've driven past that vineyard many times but have never stopped in. It's pretty out that way. Funny you mentioned a hula hoop. I've tried several times and I just haven't been able to do it. I watched this lady on youtube and she demonstrated different sized hoops and it seems I was trying to use one that was too small. It just seems smaller would be easier, because, you know, it's SMALLER, but, it turns out the opposite is true. I told my husband he is going to have to make me hoopzilla out of PVC tubing!

Mindy: I, too, have gained suddenly. I was in the mid 170's early in the week, and then was 180 Friday morning. I started logging on "Lose It!" Friday, so we shall see if it helps. One thing that has changed is that it syncs with your fitbit now and automatically adjusts calorie counts instead of having to pick and choose activities. Back in 2014, you had to log your steps manually and try to determine if they were strolling type steps or more active type steps, so it didn't feel really accurate because my steps over the course of a day are so variable. When you log your food on "Lose It!", it kicks the info back to your fitbit dashboard. They share info, and if you are active enough, you earn a "fitbit bonus" which allows you additional calories. It's pretty neat. My starting calorie budget is 1394. I really like it. I'm glad you were talking about MFP, because I probably wouldn't have gotten around to checking on "Lose It!" otherwise. My old info from 2014 was still there. LOL.

MM: How do you use canned Venison? We always freeze ours. I don't have a pressure cooker, so we freeze our beans, too. I can tomatoes and make jelly/preserves and I usually pickle peppers and beets, but don't think there are enough out there this year. As for my schedule, I'm hoping it changes soon. I end up staying up all night working second shift and then I want to just sleep until time to get up for work. Not good.

Lurch- MFP seems to do those same things also. It just starts me out at a ton of calories....1750. Seems way too high. You do a lot of canning and freezing. I am just dabbling in it this year. Our garden was pretty small and we didnt plant all that much. It will be bigger next year.

Stats for yesterday
Food-1538
steps- 5,911
weight- 185.2

Go figure. I was totally lazy yesterday, ate quite a bit and lost a pound.

Good Wee Hours of the Morning!

I've done very well ending the past three days with calorie deficits thanks to logging everything on "Lose It!". It helped me to resist the warm, gooey deliciousness of a box of fresh Bill's donuts brought in by the well meaning family member of a patient. Nobody ever brings a veggie tray or a fruit tray! It's always homemade cookies, Dorothy Lane Market "Killer Brownies", Esther Price candy, boxes of baklava as big as your kitchen table, Jets Pizza (crispy/cheesy deep-dish decadence that should be illegal) ......and if I cave and eat ONE donut, I figure I've already blown it, so I may as well eat three....I haven't even stopped at McDonalds for my late night Sausage McMuffin! Knowing I'd have to log it has made me not want it. Weird. Now, whether I'll actually "lose it", as in pounds, remains to be seen. I'll be weighing Tuesday.

PQ: I hope your first day back to school is good! You are a brave woman to teach high school. It probably helps to keep you young!

Mindy: I can't remember when you said you go back. After Labor Day? Enjoy your last couple of weeks of Freedom! I hope the weight starts coming off. I'll bet you lose a couple of pounds at once.

Hello to everyone else!

April

Walked to Subway with hubby for breakfast yesterday, then did a few more miles. We logged 3.5 miles. We have the bridge walk in a few weeks. It is 5 miles. Hubby needs to "get in shape". I need to go in to school this week at least one day, just to get a start. Not sure I can get it all done with the few days they give us next week. Too many pre-school starting meetings. I will go in kicking and screaming.

Stats for yesterday (this gets interesting)

Food- 1,335
Steps- 17,042
Weight today- 184.2

So two completely different days. Hardly any steps one day, 5,500 (1500 cal), 17,000 the next (1300 cal). Lost weight both days. However, the day before was 1700 calories, 11,000 steps and a gain.

Any insights ladies??

Greetings Groovy Chicks!

Mindy: It seems as if your starting calorie budget may be too high? I know you mentioned that it seemed to be. Your intuition is probably more accurate than any app! Congrats on the pounds down!

I'm down from 180 on the nose Friday to 175.4 today. I'm eating whole foods and focusing on 8 of the 20 of Bob Harper's "Skinny Rules".

Excerpt from Bob Harpers "Skinny Rules"

1. Drink a glass of water before every meal.
2. Eliminate fast food and fried foods.
3. Don’t eat carbs after lunch.
4. Eat protein with every meal.
5. Consume apples and berries every day.
6. Eat a real breakfast.
7. Ditch high sodium foods.
8. Don't drink your calories.

These seem reasonable and healthy.

Lost my ticker so I was making a new one.

SO I have steadily been losing weight this week. I am tracking on MFP and getting in at least 11,000 steps. Calories have been around 1400 each day. Now here's the thing. There is one more thing I have been doing. I have taken garcinia/green coffee bean supplement everyday. Is that the difference? I don't know? I shall reserve judgement.

Went back to school to set up class on Tuesday. There was stuff everywhere. Took me all day just to rearrange and put things back. Today I am going in to unpack my personals and put some stuff on the bulletin boards. I thought this would be easy but the custodians moved all my stuff and left it helter skelter.

Way to go Lurch! I'm down a pound this week since I've been at school. I started intermittent fasting last Thursday (wasn't too difficult because we eat early dinner). I do 14/10 or 16/8 on school days. I'm not so stringent about it on non-school days. My dept. has to eat lunch early (10:44am) so it's not that rough to not eat until then. I eat a heartier high protein lunch with more calories than my old 3 meals a day lunch, and it keeps me satisfied until we have dinner (usually between 5:30-6, sometimes earlier or later). I have a fruit snack during plan in the middle of the afternoon if I'm hungry. Fingers crossed I can lose that last 10 pounds this weigh
