Well, that was shameful for October and November :(

Thank you for the kind comments regarding Mother. Curvy, I'm sorry for your loss.

Mum's now been in hospital since October 18th, and on Wednesday we have a family meeting with the Fast Track Discharger, to plan where she should go now for end of life care. We'd hoped for a hopsice but that's not possible:
Hospices in the UK (AFAIK) are all charities, no state funding, and tend to have very few beds, my local one only has 16, for example; so people only go in for the last couple of weeks of life, and she's not there yet. Plus they tend to be about managing the end of life symptoms of a terminal disease: Mum has nothing medically wrong with her apart from old age, there's nothing to treat.

I'm sad she's dying (and being very good at letting that out, I didn't let it all out when I had cancer in 2013, and that led to huge emotional/mental issues that still come back and bite occasionally) but all credit to the junior doctor who was brave enough to tell us; it's actually very helpful to have the clarity of knowing we and they are managing her dying, rather than hoping for recovery.

So, I've not done the walking I should have, and I've regained about 30lbs. Every morning I re-commit to "a good day" but usually fall off the rails by evening. I'll try again today.

Good luck, health and happiness to all! xx

Sending you Light and Love to fill you UP! Not sure one is ever ready to lose a mom. My mom had Alzheimers for years and it was a blessing she passed, yet I wailed at her loss. The 30 pounds will come off, so just for today fill yourself with love. Keep walking outside, nature is healing. And give yourself credit for the fabulous miles you have put in (1625 :encore:) - Fabulous! One day at a time

Rosinante, Look at you go!! Nice job.

I am having to ride my bike at night to get the miles in this month. We have 6 inches of snow and 18 degees F, no outdoor walking for me. Doing some DVD work almost every day, which does help. The year is passing quickly.

Hi to Everyone, Keep the miles/km coming. I should have at least 1900 miles by the end of today.

Greetings friends

Dropping by to update my miles. I cannot believe we are half-way through December and at the dawn of a new year.

@Rosiante: I can only echo the wise words of workinglikeadog, fill up on light and love whenever you can. It's so very difficult to lose a mom, and as working astutely points out, one is never ready even when you think you are. Your mom's doctor did a very good thing by being gentle but honest with you and your family. Be gentle and kind to yourself. Long walks can be both comfort and self-care. I do so much thinking on my walks alone. On my more productive walks, I even convince myself that I can solve the world's problems. ;)

Sending peace, positive thoughts and love your way

Curvy, thank you for your kind words.

I realize I haven't updated but Mum died on December 8th, and her funeral is on the 20th. It was as good a death as you could wish for, indeed, as good a bereavement as you could wish for. We're concentrating on getting all the legal stuff right and getting a good funeral together but still.....

Food-wise, I'm just eating what I feel like, although I seem to have lost my taste for bingeing. Walking-wise, I'm keeping going, tho some days are more successful than others :)
