So I failed my stay on plan challenge. Went home to visit family and it was just carb carb carb carb carb....so thats a wash..I was already on 3 pause days with bringing breakfast or lunch to work, so thats a fail too. I'm fine with it since it was a family holiday and I knew going in what would happen. Gained 5 lbs, blah..but hoping to erase the damage this week.

So I am going to restart today with staying on plan and 4 glasses of water a day. I am still going to attempt bringing my lunch or breakfast, but not as a challenge.

Hope everyone else

One of my greatest challenges is p.m. snacking. I eat for entertainment, boredom, I think I'm hungry, I want a treat, etc........ So NO p.m. snacking with 3 pause days possible, starting TONIGHT!

Day 1 -June 26th -No Snack!
Day 2 - June 27th - No Snack! Felt some evening hunger, been a while & forgot how that felt, huh.
Day 3 - June 28th, No Snack!
Day 4 - June 29th, No Snack! Been enjoying some sort of drink in the p.m. Tonight I had a decaf. Even with hot temp. it was nice to sit down and enjoy.
Day 5 - June 30th, No Snack!
Pause Day 1 - July 1st, Had some chips and salsa. Feeling stressed, too many close friends/family members seriously ill/dying. Must take a day at a time and take care of my health. Feel my feelings and not feed them, sigh.
Day 6 - July 2nd, No Snack
Day 7 -No Snack
Day 8 - No Snack
Day 9 - No Snack
Day 10 - July 6th, No Snack.-----Halfway there!

Sorry to be missing in action, just so busy and guest in house till Weds.

Mag, Sandy & Dr. Geri, Thanks for your word of encouragement, have worked through this issue a bit. It's a part of life.

Obsidian, Good to hear you are restarting right away, water is always a good challenge and habit.

Keep up the great work everyone!!!

7.4: Day 2: complete, abs 45 reps
7.5: Day 3: complete, abs 50 reps
7.6: pause day (I didn't mean to take a pause day this soon, but I was not feeling well yesterday, so I'm glad I had a pause day.)
7.7: Day 4: complete, abs 70 reps

I bumped it up to 70 reps today. I think I'm maxed out at that number and I'm going to keep it there now.

Cindy I agree with you. There are so many great ideas here. I think I could keep going with a new challenge every month.

Diana I'm glad to hear that you are doing better.

Obsidian I like your challenge of drinking water. That's a good one.

Well the U.S. holiday and the family birthday proved too tempting and I failed my challenge. I am going to pick myself back up and keep playing with my challenge rules until I can find a way to succeed with better habits.

So today starts a new round of No Sweets, No Spuds, but with three pause days and a redemption clause: If I eat a dessert or potatoes, I can redeem the day and stay in the challenge if I drink an extra glass of water or exercise for fifteen extra minutes.

Hard Working Dog, Obsidian, Magistra, Gardener, and everyone else on this thread, I am quite sure I would have given up by now without your encouragement and example. I am back to try again and again because of you.

So many good ideas here and I could use most of them.

Trying on a different path.

Challenge: Strength building two days a week, with 4 days of home PT type exercises.

Day 1: 7/8 - Gym for 1 hour working mostly on lower body. Trainer suggested I lift SLOWLY and same on the release. I use the machines plus the area to pull from tower for arms and shoulders. Hopefully I'll get back to enjoying it but this day was such a struggle.

Walking in rain doesn't work, and today's walk had to be shortened because BOTH knees were aching. This is a real concern, one knee was replaced 9 years ago and the other can't be replaced until I drop at least 30 pounds.

love2garden Sorry to hear about your aching knees. I hope that didn't last too long. Good luck with your new challenge. I think it looks great! I think it's so cool that you have a trainer.

Dr. Geri You are encouragement for me too! I love your redemption clause. That's a great idea! And a great way to get back on track.

Cindy I hope you are doing well too! And I hope you get your walk today.

Hope everybody else has a great day! Let's do it!

Day 01--Wednesday, July 8: No sweets, no spuds
Day 02--Thursday, July 9: No sweets, no spuds

Gardener, you are dealing with sore joints and weather problems, and yet you are exercising much more than I am. You are knocking it out of the park, and I need to find the motivation to be as active.

I'm not doing very well with my new challenge. I had a lot going on this week and forgot to concentrate on myself. I'm going to start over in a few days.

Day 03--Friday, July 10: No sweets, no spuds
Day 04--Saturday, July 11:No sweets, no spuds
Day 05--Sunday, July 12: No sweets, no spuds. I am relieved to say I managed to make it through the long weekend, all three days of which we ate out at buffet restaurants, something I'm going to have to work on in the future, without using a pause day. A hopeful start to my new challenge.

Magistra, I hope to see you back here after your break.

CindyB, you've got momentum, how are you doing?

Beginning again, refusing to quit.

Newest Challenge:

5,000 steps for 4 days of each week with no more than 3 pause days.

7/13/00 Above 5,000 after great early walk, thank goodness.

Dr. Geri. Also need the no sweets but that is for next challenge. Struggle enough to get above 3,000 steps last week, but good start today.

Mag: May your next challenge go well.

Cindy: Hope your trip was OK and you can resume.

Diana: What is your next challenge?

Blah I was on plan, got busy didn't post..and then one cheat led to three and well here I am.

I do way better when I post here even if I don't always complete the challenge.

I have vacation in 14 days and I'll deal with that then, but want to get focused before then

Stay on Plan 3 pause days.
