Never had one but how did you beat it?

Easter is day 62 on my graph.

I've been really OP for the past couple weeks. Disappointed in myself and scared to get on scale.

New Yawk?
Well, as a former Joisey resident I hope I can help you.
However, right now I am PWI
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=drunk
so take what I post with a grain of salt.

Your height is, give or take, my height but I am of the inferior gender. :)

Take a guess as to what your weight will be.
Decide before you get on the scale what you will do if the scale shows that [over]weight.
Act on that decision.
Having trouble acting on that decision?
Ask yourself: Why? In other words, be your own best friend.

Somebody wrote to that exceptional lady Marliyn Vos Savant that they only wanted news (from a doctor) if it was good news.
She suggested that the doctor flip a coin. If the doc told her nothing - it could be because the news was bad
or
because the coin landed the "wrong" way.
This might also work for you as far as climbing on a scale but I cannot at present tell you why because my higher intellectual functioning has been temporarily disabled by my excessive Blood Alcohol Level. :(

For me the challenge right now (besides waiting to get sober so I can do some useful work) is staying on a liquid diet for more than one day so I can get the dramatic weight loss from fasting and get down to 160, and then lower. My average night weight loss is 2.3 lbs so if my daytime weight gain is less than this by a decent margin I can lose some weight within my remaining lifetime [currently predicted to be 15 years].

My wife is overseas (due east) so I now have the chance to break the routine and the fridge gets progressively emptier, so there is less temptation.

To members and lurkers: I hope you have as much fun reading this post as I did writing it. :D

I'm down a pound but I've been at the same weight for about 4 days. Driving me nuts I've been swimming and staying OP even when I ate out. Hopefully I will have a good lose this week. Busy week at work!

@vdh2102 Sometimes when I know I've had a bad weekend of over eating I won't weigh myself. I will work hard that week by staying on plan and exercising before I weigh myself, then I don't feel like crap if it is over. Most times I'm surprised at what it says. Commit to your plan this week get on the scale next Sun. Monday is always a good day to start fresh.

Wobbly-- LOL. Hope you enjoyed yourself-- I was having trouble understanding your post until I clicked the urban dictionary link.

Pumpkin Field-- I did exactly what you suggested and skipped my weigh in this week. I've found that usually when I've had a gain after a bad few days, most of it is water retention and goes away once I get back OP, so I want to give myself the benefit of the doubt there. As of today, I'm officially back on the train. I'm counting on being able to wear this dress I have to my boyfriend's brother's wedding in June, and I'm too broke to buy a new one right now, so I keep reminding myself of how much it would suck to have to buy something else if I don't make it to my goal by then for motivation. So far, it's working :)

Good luck to everyone this week.

@vdh2102 hang your dress out where you can see it all the time. That visual reminder could help you focus.

I sorted through my summer clothes trying stuff on. A lot of it is tight, I'm getting close.

I finally am down another lb. total 18. I only have 7 to go to meet my 1st weight goal.

Have a great week! I'm already exhausted and it's only Tues!

Back to reality! :(

The magazine Psychology Today, June 2014, has an article on willpower on page 36, and talks about stuff, some of which I never would have thought of. Including 'restraint bias'.
One take-away from this article is that if you are having trouble losing weight it is because human nature conspires against you.

Being a cheapskate I tried to find it online but it's not yet there. :(

11 of my 31 pounds left to lose!!! I can't contain myself! :)

Avezy44 05-07-2014 01:19 PM

Wobbly just saw your question, yes! It took me weeks but I finally beat it. April wasn't my best month but I can't complain because I didn't gain.

Wobbly 05-12-2014 08:45 PM

FWIW:
I can lose 1.5 lbs/day for only about 5 days, so it's not sustainable.
Now if I lose too fast I try to eat more to slow the decline and lately it's 0.6 lb/day and I seem to be able to hold this rate. I now keep a food diary to figure out what contributed to what.

Weigh-in day

Not doing too well. Hoping to finish this challenge with a few pound loss...

PumpkinField 05-19-2014 05:42 PM

I lost a few lbs and am up 1, ugh! I hate the weekends and I was actually good and stayed on plan. Wish I wasn't so tired all the time. I'm finding it hard to exercise lately. That might be why I'm up. Have a good week.

The trend line calculated for this bumpy graph says I lost 0.43 lbs per week :(

PumpkinField 05-27-2014 06:07 PM

I have 1 lb to loose this week and I will have met my goal. How is everyone else doing?

PumpkinField 05-29-2014 06:53 PM

I met my 25 lb goal today. I am now at 263.8. I cleaned out my closet and got rid of the biggest clothes I've ever worn! On to my next goal.

I hope that everyone is doing great!
