If exercise miles only are acceptable in this thread, please let me know and I will excuse myself and keep track on my own as I have always done.

I figure the purpose of the challenge is to just get people moving more every day not to complicate things or make it difficult. It isn't like a contest with a prize or anything...at least not the way I am understanding it.

This is just my own personal opinion since I am not the thread originator. My opinion is that nobody should care what you count or don't count because this is not a competition against each other but a motivational encouragement to each other. Personally, I am only counting exercise miles because that's what I want to track.

I don't exercise during farming/gardening season because I'm moving/lifting all day long and can easily get in 20,000 steps a day. I need to exercise during the cold weather season cause I would like to not move at all. So I created a 10,000 steps a day year round challenge for myself and measure my movement from morning till night, that works best for me.

This thread is great for any mileage challenge you might want to give yourself. Thank you Sum for hosting this challenge.

Tabbycat here.

I've been slowed down by IT band syndrome and a diagnosis of advanced osteoarthritis in the hip. No more running allowed. Not even brisk walking. Elliptical machine and bike are allowed.

total through Feb: 95 miles

Awesome, Karen31! Do you walk or run? Inside or outside? I'm from Missouri, too. (and I'm totally new at this site)

Sum38 03-02-2014 04:58 PM

I took 3 weeks off; vacation and an illness.

163.3 total treadmill and outdoor walking miles.

Sum38 03-02-2014 05:37 PM

To answer you questions what counts in this thread; the answer is EVERYTHING! The point of this tread (and how Gary originally wanted it), is to keep everybody moving.

Some people count just their exercise mileage, other count what ever their pedometer says.

Goodlife, I saw you over on the Golden Girls thread too!! Welcome!
I put my treadmill on when I get up and then take it off when I get ready for bed.. So it is from all day. So I'm not getting as many miles in as I should but have been a little distracted. My DH was diagnosed with cancer about 3 weeks ago and we have been busy going to VA hospitals in Littlerock, Arkansas and up to KC too. So not getting much intentional exercise in. We are still waiting to hear what kind of treatment they are going to do and when!! Patience is something I don't have much of anymore....
