Exclamation "Every Day" 21 Day Challenge (Ongoing, Newbies Welcome)

It works like this: you decide you'll do something for 21 days straight, every single day, so keep it doable. Then you count ....one through 21.....and if you flub it, you MUST go back to zero and start over again. Everyone will be on different days. You can start anytime. At the beginning of the challenge you declare what level it is -- Level 1, 2, or 3. Level 1 means you feel it's a relatively easy challenge for you and means you only give yourself ONE pause day (see explanation of pause days below). Level 2 would give you two pause days and so on...
And taking NO pause days is what redballoon called "aceing a challenge," as in "I'm aiming on aceing this one!" Yowzah!!

With a pause day you pause in your counting and continue the next day with the number you left off with. Pause days are NOT substitutes for days, i.e. Day 12 -- Day 13 -- Pause Day -- Day 14..... I suggest taking a pause day late in the game (better to go back to Day 1 early on) if you need a break or screw up when you're well into the challenge, meaning, when you're on Day 15 or something like that.

In any case, the trick is to keep going. The momentum builds and it's great incentive to stick to your guns, cause if you don't.........back to START you go. And the really great thing about this challenge is that you are forming new habits that will wipe out the old! AND, you get to do it with a great bunch of really supportive people to whom you are accountable!

There is NO shame in starting over. Remember, it's not over till you give up. And our motto around here is:

NEVER GIVE UP!!...Just start OVER!!

(This challenge was originally started by redballoon. I looked for new threads, but the last one was in December, 2011. I always found this challenge motivating, so I'm reviving it.)

For my challenges:

Drink 24 oz water daily. (Level 1, 1 pause allowed) Day 0, 1 pause remaining
Write down everything I eat. (Level 2, 2 pauses allowed) Day 0, 2 pauses remaining
No eating after 10:30 p.m. (Level 3, 3 pauses allowed) Day 0, 3 pauses remaining

***You can choose how many challenges you want, whether it be one or five. They can be on different levels. Mine was just coincidence having level 1, 2, and 3.

I have a love/hate thing for challenges. In the beginning they excite me, but after a while they make me panic and I mess up where I normally would not have. So I continually go back and forth between wanting to join one and vowing never to try it again. This type of challenge may be the right "in between" for me, since there really is no actual losing...

I'm going to start with two challenges:

Log everything - Level 1, 1 pause remaining

Only eat within my Leangains window (10am to 7pm) - Level 3, 3 pauses remaining

I am IN. I already am working on a "5lbs" challenge, but I think that the 21 Day Challenge will assist with that.
With 7/16/2012 as day 0, I plan on
  • Doing 2.25 miles of jog-walk intervals per day, level 3
  • Following the SB diet phase II with not a single cheat moment, level 1
  • Drinking 6-8 glasses of water per day, level 1
Good luck, everyone!

Every time I eat, I must first ask myself if I am truly hungry enough (level 3, 3 pause days)
I will only have 2 tbs of peanut butter per day, or less (level 1, 1 pause day)

Okay. Drinking water every day is no problem. I am already pretty darn good at staying hydrated, so who knows why I put that in my challenge. Did the jog this morning! Twenty more mornings of jogs to go (3 "pause" days left).

Ohh! I love this idea! So I'm in.

My challenges are:
  • Exercise as planned. For the reminder of July, at least 30 - 35 minutes a day. August, at least 50 minutes a day.(Level 1, 1 pause remaining)
  • Drink between 2 and 2.5litres each day. (Level 2, 2 pauses remaining)
  • No junk food. (Level 3, 3 pauses remaining)

My exercise should be OK because I have a planned day off each week and it's usually motivating enough to keep going each day knowing I have a day off coming up. However, today I did have to push myself to get moving so it's days like today which I could struggle with. The water is one I can struggle with some days. Most days I do drink at least 2. But other days I end up drinking only 1litre or 1.5litres, so this is more challenging for me. Even more challenging is the no junk food and I've been waiting on something like this to try have no junk food for a certain amount of time. This will be extremely difficult to go 21 days, but I'm well up for the challenge. I'm already surviving a binge free July for the past 18 days.

Start date: 19/07/2012

Day 2, 20/07:

EEEEK today I made a new batch of peanut butter and it came out so good I couldn't resist taking a couple extra spoonfuls! So I used up my peanut butter pause day, and I think in doing so I used up one of my mindful eating pause days, too :/. This is harder than I thought it would be, but I think that cutting back on peanut butter might make a big difference for me, now that I see how much of it I eat!
