So sorry to hear that, Nikkih. I know how much that stinks when you are on a roll exercising. But remember that even though exercise is important, 80% to 85% of weight loss is your diet. So you can definitely lose that 1.5 pounds by Thanksgiving.
Day one of Scarsdale for me starts today (at 194.5). I have a love/hate relationship with this die, which I've hopped on and off of for 30 years. Usually I can lose anywhere from 5-10 pounds in a week on it. But lately it's hit and miss. Since I've already lost a good amount of weight, I'm not expecting my loss to be anywhere near 10 pounds. But I'd be thrilled with a 5-pound loss. Let the suffering...(ahem)...I mean rapid weigh loss begin!!! |
Nikki- I'm sorry you're hobbling but I agree. 1.5 lbs by thanksgiving is completely doable, even without exercise.
Sandy- Good luck on Scarsdale. Hopefully it will give you the kickstart you're looking for. Lindsy- I'd want to veg too. Glad you got to relax. Down to 214.5 this morning. Glad to be out of the top half of the teen decade. Still pushing for 210.5 by next Thursday. My eating is back under control and I'm in a much better place mood-wise. |
I had to go out of town unexpectedly for business, but am back now. I did swim at the hotel pool, so that was nice and definitely counted as a success, but eating well was a hassle. Hardly any vegetarian options that weren't a giant bowl of pasta or pizza--I was eating processed carb heavy, fruits and veggie low. At least is was only 4 days. I had a big bowl of veggies and beans last night when I got home, and it felt so good. It really teaches me that even if travel is last minute, I NEED to pack food for myself. Even if it's just some oatmeal packets, nuts and some fruit.

Tab, glad you're back home safe and sound. Traveling and vacationing do stink when it comes to staying on track with healthy eating. That's a good idea about taking your own foods with you next time.
Lambie, way to go! I knew you'd get back on track. Scarsdale is going well so far. I'm eating some fruit right now, which feels weird being that I don't usually get fruit eating low carb. But I haven't been hungry yet today, so that's good news. |

Holy heck! I'm up a half pound today!! :mad: That has never happened to me in all the years I've done Scarsdale. I followed it perfectly, so I don't know what's happening.
Okay, I'll give it another day to work, but if that scale doesn't start moving in the right direction, I might have to get out the ol' Ginsu and start chopping off limbs. LOL |

Nikkih-Don't worry about .5! Go drink some water and go to the bathroom ;) But really, there are a few things you can do that won't put pressure on your ankle. I do some light weight lifting with 3lb weights, and I bet you could do something like that sitting down. Or even just go through the weight lifting motions without weights. Just think of little ways to keep yourself moving. I sit at a desk all day at work, and I squeeze my stomach for 10 seconds, then release...just do a few reps here and there throughout the day, and I actually feel a little burn in my abs! Just be creative. We all know any little movement helps! I hope you feel better soon. Sandy- I wish I could go to the midnight showing! I have to work tomorrow morning, so it's a no-go :( On another note, what is Scarsdale? |
Not going to make my challenge before Thanksgiving. Rough week or so. I am at least maintaining and not gaining any that I have lost. I thought all was well until my work meeting on Monday when they told us that the Grant money that funds are programs will most likely not be around after June 30th next year. So, I have been hitting the job hunting pretty hard. Hopefully I will find a job before I have to go on unemployment. I hope that everyone is doing great and I will try to catch up this weekend.

Noelle- I know it sucks and everyone says it but a loss is a loss! Good job! I'm down to 213.5 this morning. Totally wasn't expecting it but I'm not complaining. 3.5 lbs to go. Might not make it but hoping to come close. Still may be able to pull a 10 lb loss by December 1st and that was my big goal for the month anyways. Fingers crossed! |
Annnd I'm back. This Vacation from work has been great. But the fact that I just sit around at home all day bugs me! I havnt been to the gym at all for the past week and a half. So today, I got outta bet, ate some breakfast, and hit the gym. Hard. I forgot how great it feels to push yourself so hard. I left, and my shirt was DRENCHED in sweat. The whole back of my shirt was a dark grey color. Thats how you know you kicked your own but, in my book.
On this vacation, I just watched TV and ate. Ate ate ate. Orderd Pizza, made pizza at home, went to Burger king. The worst thing I could do. And NO EXERCISE. How terrible. I hate the feeling I had after doing that. Oh and I gained 3lbs. I doubt its all Weight gain. Mostly all the salt holding all the water in my body!. eeeek Not to mention my body hated me too. I was having digestion issues. ( Prolly from all that Saturated Fat I havnt had in forever and just getting an over load on it!) I'm tired of not being OP. I'm back to my plan. IDC if I don't start work until Monday. I'm starting up again, RIGHT NOW. Phew. That felt good to let out. On a stranger note.. I have been having BACK TO BACK dreams about being pregnant. This is the first time that I am looking forward to Auntie Flow coming to town.. Hopefully I'm not. Hope you all have a Splendid day. :) |

Thanks for the support. I am at a teacher and on my feet all day. By the time I come home I'm dead. I was surprised this morning I had a swoosh of 2.4 lost. I am aiming for 1 more before thanksgiving. Right now I am -6 on this challenge. My goal was -9. I won't officially weigh in until the day before thanksgiving for my final numbers. Nikki |

Khumphrey-I won't be reaching my goal either, but at least we are heading in the right direction! That's all we can do :) Nikki-Teaching is a workout in itself! Do you use myfitnesspal at all? It can show you an estimate of how many carlories you burn for walking at a slow pace for a certain number of minutes (or in your case hours...assuming you're like most teachers I know who pace back and forth throughout the day) I think you might be pleasantly surprised! Congrats -2.4lbs!! I am down to 211.4 lbs today. I think being 210 or just under by next week is so attainable! I just need to push myself :) |
Grrrr! I am officially off of Scarsdale and bummed that there is no way I'll reach my Thanksgiving goal by that day. I was the same weight this morning, which is unheard of for me doing Scarsdale. I usually am down 3-4 pounds after two day on it...I have no idea why in the world I'm up a half pound. I guess that diet has just stopped working for me like it used to. Time to go back to just protein, veggies and healthy fats for a while. Fruit, as healthy as it is, just doesn't help me lose weight. Maybe I can get another pound or two off by Thanksgiving. I will be thankful for that.
On a good note, I'm going to see Breaking Dawn today. Yay!!!! Everone is doing so well with their losses. I'm so proud of you all. Lindsy, those 3 pounds are going to be off in no time now that you are back to working out and dieting again. I have no doubt. Have a super wonderful weekend, my lovelies! ♥ |

I'm going to have a very busy week this week. My husband is on vacation as well as my youngest daughter from school. We have a to-do list to get our house ready for Thanksgiving, which we host. So I may not be on here as often, but I'll definitely check in before the end of the challenge. I guess we need to start up our Christmas challenge for those of us who want to keep this going. Any ideas for our challenge title? I've got "Jingle Those Pounds Off Christmas Challenge" and "Gift of Health Christmas Challenge". Any other ideas? |
