Like many of you, it seems, I have also been experiencing TOM fluctuations. I had a big loss yesterday morning but the past two days have been way off my usual schedule, with out of town friends staying with us. I missed workouts, had a few glasses of wine, and there was a lot of food around. I was fairly restrained, I thought, but this morning on the scale I was up THREE pounds! Yikes. Well..... I'm not too worried yet. I am sure my sodium levels were high in the last few days. So I am making sure to drink lots of water, and hopefully get back on track soon.

Has anyone else gained that much overnight, and how long did it take to come off? Would be great if it came off as fast as it went on, but I think I need to work extra hard this week!

Well, I've had a rough couple of stress filled days. I have been sleep deprived, poor food choices and hadn't worked out. I am most definitely an emotional eater

My stress level is still high but I don't want that to ruin my efforts. Today's a new day and I'm going to be in control again.

Congrats to all of you who are doing so well! I'm hoping to join you in having some success in the near future too.

Have a good day everyone.

no TOM? I have PCOS, so my periods are crazy-iiregualr. But I just feel so weird. Blah!

I did Zumba this morning and I thought I was going to die! LOL It was one of my fave instructors, and he does a LOT of poppin' it. ;-)

Lene- It's okay! I promise. The worst part is convincing yourself that a small setback is just that...small. Just a blip on the radar. Jump back on the wagon and maybe you can think of a few things that help the stress besides food. I am a HUGE stress-eater, so this change has been so hard.

Katybug -- I think I posted about this in another thread, but my biggest overnight TOM-related gain was TWELVE POUNDS. Part of it had to have been different clothing/time of weighing, but still. 12! Water retention is crazy. It immediately came off in a day or two when TOM started though. (I always "gain" right before.)

lene1974 -- You can do it! Give yourself time to rest. Exercise--even just walking--is a great stress reliever as well.

ChickieChicks -- Irregular periods would drive me crazy. I dislike them enough as it is. One of my friends gets hers only 3 or so times a year, and she never has any prior warning when it happens. The human body is a mysterious thing.

------

Weighed in at 183 today, which I am super happy about. Not because it's a huge loss or anything, but because last week was terrible in terms of water retention. I think it's mostly coming off now that TOM is on its way. I no longer feel like I need to eat everything in my house either.

ChickieChicks: I hope TOM shows up and provides some relief! I know very well that feeling of your body retaining water and behaving in odd ways while you wait for it to arrive. If you work at all like me, the good news is that once you get past the first few days of it, all that weight you've lost in the meantime that isn't showing up on the scale will start dropping right off!

PghGal: I hope this week is going better for you with the sodium! Make sure you drink that water to help rid your body of the excess!

Katybug: It really does seem like a lot of us have been in the same boat. My scale doesn't tend to jump up a lot before TOM (maybe only a pound), but the weight just hangs on and I'll be at the same number on the scale for 3-5 days in a row. For me, the weight doesn't really start to drop off until after TOM has arrived and I've gotten through the first few days - and then I see some nice whooshes. I'll be wishing for whooshes for you!

lene: I'm sorry things have been so stressful for you. I tend to make poor food choices when I'm stressed too (I go for convenience), but workouts - even just a fast walk - can really help with the stress! I hope things are better for you soon.

nikkidee, firefoxy and loli - It looks like you are making progress! Keep it up!

I saw a nice mid-TOM whoosh on the scale yesterday morning, and was thrilled thinking "only 3.7 lbs to the 180s!" But then I went to my dr appt yesterday and got the ok to return to exercise, and so after doing a strength workout last night for the first time in 2 months I KNEW the scale would be up this morning with water sticking around to repair those muscles. And I was right - up nearly 2 lbs this AM! Ugh, lol. It will work it's way out eventually...

chickadee- Thanks. This morning I was back where I started 6 days ago before the weird water weight gain. Hopefully it'll start going down again! I saw in your ticker your goal for IVF. Just wanted to send positive vibes your way. Hubby and I had fertility issues, and as stressful as it was, we have 2 gorgeous boys to show for it. :-)

ChickieChicks: Thank you very much for the positive thoughts and encouraging words - I really appreciate it. We just found out recently that we'll have to go the IVF route, and I'm trying very hard to stay positive and focus on the things I CAN control rather than be upset over the ones I can't. I am so glad that you were able to overcome your fertility issues and have children; that is really wonderful to hear!

Staying on plan with WW points. Spent the day at Six Flags on Monday and only screwed up eating by having Cold Stone ice cream for a snack. Counted the pts. and headed down the road...no need to dwell on bad choices.

Hi All ~ I did much better the last 2 days. I got back to what I was before life went nuts. I also went through my list of stuff I have been putting off and worrying over. Then I tackled it!
Sw 166
CW 165.4
Aug goal 159
I'm really going to have to buckle down to make my goal. It kinda feels unrealistic now but I'll keep pushing on.

Boatingmommy~ you are doing fantastic!

ChiChi~ Glad you are heading in the right direction again.

Firefoxy~ Thanks for the encouragement and congratulations on the loss!

Chickadee~Congrats on the whoosh! I know your number went up after your first workout but that's only temporary I'm sure.

Best wishes for everyone today.

Thanks for the encouraging words everyone! Hope you all are having a great day. We are seeing a beautiful day here in the midwest after weeks of temps around 100 degrees. Going to get out there for a walk tonight and enjoy the fresh air. I'm still waiting for my Zumba dvds to come in. Can't wait for those.

Glad to hear that I am not the only one who suffers through TOM with crazy water weight and such. I swear I am ready for menopause just to be done with that hassle. I have very low blood pressure, so I am always on the cold side. A hot flash might be fun for a change.

Don't have time to post to everyone separately, but wanted to say "hang in there!". Stress gets to all of us and I know I have to work extra hard to keep my hands out of the cookie jar when life starts to get on my nerves.
Just knowing that I am not alone in this helps.
