I'll be doing the Shred in about an hour and a half (need to let breakfast digest).
I did, however, take my measurements this morning:
Waist at skinniest point: 32"
Waist over belly-button (what I'll put in the spreadsheet): 35"
Hips: 42.75"
Thigh: 22.75"
Calf: 15.75"
Bicep: 12"
Neck: 13"
BMI: 29.6
Oh, and for those of you just starting 30 Day Shred, I thought this might give you some motivation:
In the week that I've done it, I've lost .5" from my waist and 1.5" from my hips, though my calf and arms have beefed up slightly (by .25" and .5" respectively), which I'm attributing to muscle.
Wow I forgot exactly how tough this 20 min video is! What weights is everyone else using? I have 5 lb hand weights and I find it hard to keep up with the DVD with them I'm thinking of getting 3 lb weights and work my way up to the 5 lb.
NiteOwl: I use 5lbs as well, though for the lateral arm raises I just use one, holding it in both hands. Hopefully I'll work up the strength to use both by the end of June.
Day 1 kicked my butt Just the cardio section. I used 10 pound weights where I could. I also have weight bands so I used those as well. Still felt the burn I just gotta make it through the cardio part. Since I'm doing the 30 ds I'm going to change my gym cardio 5x workout to 3x a week.
Here are my stats:
SW: 180
Hips: 44
RL/LL: 25
RA/LA: 12.5
Bust: 37.5
Waist: 34
BMI: 32.9 obese Yikes
6/1: L1D9 -- I've noticed that since I started up c25k, my quads are a lot stiffer, making the static lunges and squats more difficult. That's not a complaint, just an observation about how that set of muscles is being worked. Otherwise, today felt good. I managed a total of 32 push-ups, a new record! And according to my new calorie-counter watch, I burned approx. 356 calories.
I'm almost finished with the Shred. I was wondering if anyone has troubles doing the travelling pushups in level 3? I feel like I'm going to drop to the ground and die when I do them.
doubtingJulia: Yes, I'm currently a special education teacher assistant. I have a BS in Psychology with a minor in Biology from undergrad, and now I'm in grad school getting my MA in Teaching for 1-5 merged (both special and general education). I'll be doing my job-embedded student teaching next Spring and should graduate May 2012. It's an amazing job, I absolutely love it!!!!
niteowl: In the past when I've done the video I've used 3 lb weights. I recently bough Jillan's weight set though that includes 3, 5, and 8 lb weights and will hopefully be able to build up to the heavier ones.
I actually had to start twice since I went to do the workout and realized I was getting out of breath from the warm up (I know kind of pathetic) and I only made it through 1/2 of the first circuit. I was not prepared for how difficult I was going to find it! So I took a break and came back to it now knowing what I was in for. I finished it on my second try but I had a really hard time with the cardio especially the jumping jacks! I am dreading day 2 but I know it will get better
