Marniadec, you can do either. Making new posts makes it easier to join any conversations during the month, but we're not all that chatty since we're too busy working out! Editing the original makes for less copying and pasting. I keep my log in a notebook file so I can copy and paste from that rather than having to find my old post.

Ms Perception, I'm on pins and needles! How did the marathon go?

Okay, so I tried to come on yesterday, but my computer would not cooperate. I'm alive, so that's the beginning of the good news. I was able to run the whole marathon with the exception of the water/Powerade stations!! I felt pretty incredible other than some sore feet for the last 8 miles or so. I was so happy when I finished, I almost cried! Today I'm sore, but nothing too bad.

My October Exercise:

10/1: 13 min run/warm-up
10/2: Rest day
10/3: Marathon (unofficial) finish time - 4:43:28
10/4: Rest day

julie99s 10-04-2010 11:35 AM

I FINALLY got to the gym today now that I'm feeling a better. A little congested, but I feel great otherwise. My brain's not sloshing around in my head anymore and my body doesn't ache and my eyes don't burn. Hooray! It felt great to work out today, and since it's my first time to the gym this month, I'm doing a lot. Also, my gym is doing this thing, I forget what they named it, but you go 9,000 something "miles" (strength, running, jumping, whatever exercise) which is the number of miles around the Great Lakes. For every 15 minutes of exercise, you get 80 miles. I did an hour and a half this morning, and have an hour planned this afternoon. I have 480 miles today! :carrot: I have until November 24th to complete, but I don't think it'll take me that long. Sorry for the novel.

Onward!

Julie99s~ Glad your feeling better! :D

Day 1 Done! Wow I truly forgot how good it feels to take a shower and throw on some comfy clothes after a hard workout! I may decide to add just a short 30 minutes on the treadmill on my days off just to have this feeling everyday! :woohoo:

Made it back to the gym yesterday for the first time in over a month and the first time since I quit smoking. What an incredible feeling! I forgot how much I loved the adrenaline rush. Did my 30 minute walk/run intervals (to a new latin fusion podcast designed for that purpose) and 40 minutes of weights. I realized though I may not be able to keep up with this challenge this month - I've got a week of fasting (for religious reasons, yes I do it by choice and no I don't go a week without eating) but I generally don't workout while I fast. Maybe I'll figure out some lighter workouts to do at home for that week.

julie99s 10-05-2010 10:53 AM

Kukkie, congrats on quitting smoking and for getting back to the gym! Way to go!

I'm still kinda under the weather. I feel ok in the mornings, and I'll get my workout in and I feel great afterwards. But as yesterday proved, as afternoon settles in I feel like a train hit me. I might not be meeting goal this month if I am unable to get to the afternoon classes. That's where the other half of my cardio minutes come from. Hoping I feel good all day today and I can make it to zumba tonight.

CONGRADULATIONS TO YOU ALL!
Although I have not taken the elevator at work, I'm still finding it hard to incorporate my 10,000 steps. "I hate excercising!" but am still hopeful.
