sorry i have not been in here for a few days. have been busy.
the girls and i have been going for walks most night, we are up to 2 miles and they get pretty tired. so we'll stick to that for now.
eating is not that great, i'm still around 193 lbs. need to get my butt in gear and stop cheating.
if it stays dry this weekend we have a lot of out stuff to get done. seeds all came in the mail so we have to plant the garden, mow the lawn about 2 acres of the 13 gets mowed so we do have a rider.( should get a push so i get more exersice out of it.) then of course, grocery shopping, laundary, cleaning, and i have to go shopping for to get the girls all their summer clothes.

WELCOME Vortgirl. i too am fairly new this little group of ladies, and they did a great job of welcoming me and supporting me as well. and we will do the same for you.

my into: i am 32 yrs old married for 8 as of june 15th. 2 girls 5 and 7, a dog and 11 chickens. i h ave been chunky most of my life, but really let go after my 2nd baby. i am sick if being fat and feeling unhappy, unsexy, unhealthy, so i am trying to change all that. i am counting calories and with my schedule and my hubby's and the kids, trying to get in exercise when ever i can, for now it is mostly quick walks before supper then girls go off to bed.

now off to get supper started, then finish 1st grade homework with hannah. good night ladies.

Hey Everyone,

Wow, you all have such successful stories!! I really hope I will be as far along as you all are by this time next year!

Maddiesmom: I'm doing basic cal counting using FitDay. I'm trying to keep it around 1500 to 1700 a day; currently feeling out whether I should be sticking to the 3 big meals or 2 smaller meals and snacks throughout the day.

Momof2: With all you have going on, how do you come up with time to do all you do?! A literal supermom!

Dance: Everyone has been saying how much you exercise, whats your routine?

Burgandy: Sounds like you definately need a break! I hope you got some down time today!!

Neesy: Thank you so much for the warm words of welcome, they mean a lot to me. I'm lacking a decent support group here at home, everyone is supportive, they just dont really understand.

I appriciate all of you positive words. My goal this week has been adding more fruits and veggies into my diet, as well as becoming comfortable at my gym, which I havent been up til now. It's a work in progress...

Happy Friday, girls!

vortgirl - Sounds like you are doing great - making small sustainable changes seems like the way to be successful (vs. crash diets, etc.). And I'm not the workout queen around here - that's maddiesmom (aka gymbunny :) ) but she's on a gym break while she gets back treatments. I run (3 miles) or walk (5 miles) probably around 4-5x/wk with the occasional weekend hike thrown in there for variety.

momof - nice to hear from you - you sound busy busy. Maybe we can push each other to have a no cheating weekend? I haven't been doing that well on that front either.

I got in my walk last night but I'm still up a few this morning so I'm afraid it's more than water weight :( but I'm going to see if I can get back to where I was the week before I went on my ill-fated business trip soon. Two steps forward, one back is better than all back, right? :)

Anyone got fun plans this weekend? Nothing too exciting here - going to happy hour tonight, shopping with mom tomorrow, dinner with friends later in the weekend...

MaddiesMom 04-30-2010 01:58 PM

Dance: You are so sweet! :) *blush* yes, I was the workout queen, but was de-throned by this horrible back issue. I think you may still be getting rid of water weight, I don't think you would have eaten that many calories to gain more than a pound in a week. You can do the POP weekend! I know you can! :)

Momof2: I know how hard it is to balance work, home, and health. It will take some adjustments, but just think of the great rolemodeling you are doing for your daughters! I have a 2-1/2 year old little girl, and she and I go on walks and play every day (weather permitting). It's great because I'm getting exercise and spending time with my little one. I know at times you may feel selfish for spending time away working out, but just think of it like this - you are getting into better health so you can spend more time with your family in the long run. I went through a lot of guilt issues when I began working out longer periods of time and taking away time from my daughter.

Yesterday we did the ARP and worked on the area right above my knees, but still did both at the same time. So I am sore from mid-thigh to my knees. They are getting better though. Tomorrow is my last treatment and then I start my personal training again. It seems like so long ago that I was working out, but it's only been 2-1/2 weeks. Now I have to get into the routine of going at night again since I've been doing my ARP treatments during my lunch hour since it only takes 30 mins.

YOU WILL BE SO PROUD OF ME.... I really wanted Chipotle for lunch, but thought of all the sodium and calories I would consume, so I skipped it, went back to work and got a grilled chicken sandwich on a whole wheat pita and carrot sticks. Probably saved myself over 1000 mg of sodium. So, my inner voice is working again! :)

What is everyone doing this weekend? Tomorrow is super busy: ARP @ 8, facial @ 10, pick up my new resized wedding rings, and then I have a party at 2:00. I'll do my best to eat beforehand so I'm not cheating too much at the party.

Have a great Friday ladies!

dancerindenver 04-30-2010 04:51 PM

maddiesmom - way to go on resisting temptation - you have some impressive discipline!! Apart from the ARP-pain, your day tomorrow sounds fun but busy :) How are the grumpies? Pretty much gone? Hope so!

I'm just on a motivation roller coaster lately and can't seem to find the strength of will to do what I need to do. I've been walking instead of running so I've promised myself a good run tomorrow as that sometimes gets my endorphins to kick in which makes it easier to stick to plan.

Anyone got any tips for when you're low on motivation?

ETA: Decided to go to a Zumba dance exercise class for the first time tomorrow instead of running to mix it up a bit - anyone else tried these classes? I'll let you know what they're like afterwards :)

MaddiesMom 04-30-2010 08:09 PM

Dance: I had a co-worker who did Zumba and absolutely loved it. I have no rhythm whatsoever, but wanted to try it eventually (classes were only offered right after work and I have to pick up Madeline).

I too am finding it hard to stay motivated, I am surprised I turned down Chipotle...even though I REALLY wanted it. We also had a welcome party for a new employee which included dessert, I had one bit sized piece of brownie and the rest was fruit. So, I guess once you start saying no, it gets a little easier.

My grumpies are not yet gone, I'm still have attitudinal issues and I can't seem to get out of the funk. I have an "I don't care attitude" and can't seem to get out of it...especially at work, can't seem to get myself going. I'm not sure what's going on, but hopefully when I am through with the ARP, I can get myself happy again about working out at least. What can you do? At least Jeff can make me laugh through the pain.

Hello Girlfriends,

Dance, Maddiesmom, Burgund, Neesy ........sorry about being awol for several days. Momf2kz good to see you still with the group and welcome Vortgirl!

I will have to read back on some pages tomorrow after work. Tonight I'm still dealing with a migrane from a busy, busy week, which is one of the main reasons I haven't taken the time to come on here and dedicate some much needed time. Yesterday on my day off I worked on my parents yard, got overheated and passed out when I got home.

No news on the weight loss area, but I am trying to get a handle on it. I will write more tomorrow, need to rest my head.

Miss you all.

burgundyrayne 04-30-2010 10:27 PM

My computer is being really slow tonight so I will catch up with everyone tomorrow. I had a nice relaxing day. The rest of the weekend should be nice too since the boys grandma took them to see their aunt this weekend. Might have them Sunday night and Monday. Only walked 2 miles today. Wanted to do more but a bunch of friends showed up and stayed and stayed. It was nice but really wanted to get at least 2 more miles in. I'm at 12 1/2 right now. Probably not gonna get to 20 this week. Have a great night ladies. Talk to you tomorrow.

Vortgirl 04-30-2010 11:18 PM

Hi Everyone,

Hope you are all doing well.

Dance: Let me know what you think of Zumba, I've been wanting to try it. I still commend you for your exercise schedule!

Maddiesmom: Congrats on staying strong at lunch!! As for the grumpies (love the word, btw) I'm not sure what the weather is like there, but here the weather has been inconsistant and icky, so I'm blaming it on the unseasonably cold weather. So as the workout queen: what are your favorite cardio and workout methods? I'm looking for ways not to get bored or let my body get bored in the gym (which isnt as easy as it sounds).

Grits: Nice to meet you!

I was very proud of myself today, a coworker brought in these HUGE bagels with creamcheese (one of my many weaknesses) and I DIDNT GIVE IN! I'm going shopping tomorrow for healthy snacks and lunch ideas; I also have a friends' daughters birthday party tomorrow, it'll be a toughie to not cheat, which is why I'm going shopping first to stock up and go prepared! I also need to pick up a new scale.....I have the digital WW one, and I got on it this morning it said 178 then I got on it again, 4 seconds later and it said 183 so I think it's time for a new one!

What is everyone's favorite healthy snack food?

Talk to you tomorrow!

dancerindenver 05-01-2010 01:07 PM

Morning, girls!
Just got back from zumba with my sister and we had a great time. It was more like dancing than a workout if that makes sense. I'll definitely go again - I bought a punch card to make sure that I do :) But, boy, seeing yourself in the mirror for an hour really is a motivator to lose whatever's left - I kept imaging what I would look like without all the extra in the middle. *Sigh*

zort - nice job avoiding the bagels! Favorite snacks are hummus and carrots and roasted salted soy nuts. Also edamame.

burgundy - what are you going to do with your free time this weekend?

mygrits - so sorry about the migraine - hope you're feeling okay today. When's your next day off? I'm not doing a great job of keeping track of your schedule.

I did well at the happy hour last night (walked there and back and only had one glass of wine and no snacks) but later got the munchies - major protein cravings so I'm going to try to up my protein intake for a while and see if that helps keep me feeling fuller.

Hope you all are enjoying your Saturday!

Neesy_20 05-01-2010 03:02 PM

Vort- You go girl! Great will power! Bagels and cream cheese are my weakness also.mmmm It's been sooo long since i had one!

Dance-haha. i agree about the mirror thing. definitely motivating. i purposely get closer to a mirror when i work out at the gym.

rayne- glad you're having a relaxing weekend. I need to also. I've been partying way too hard lately.

grits- hope you're feeling better

momof2kz-sounds like your yard work is quit a workout!

So.. I've been at 178 to 179 for a few days now. So, i'm calling it official. haha. I made it!!!! Yay!!! Now on to the 160s!

dancerindenver 05-01-2010 06:24 PM

neesy - woohoo for the new decade! It must be time to go to Korea :)

burgundyrayne 05-01-2010 09:18 PM

Vicky-did the funk start before or after the ARP treatments started?? If it was after maybe you are just missing working out and when you start back you will feel better. So proud of you for resisting tempation and not going to Chipotle. Good job.

Dance-Give it a few more days and you will probably be back down to ticker weight. Sounds like you had fun dancing and it was probably more of a workout than you thought because you had fun doing it. Ahh, my free time, we got a load of gravel delivered cos our driveway is pretty rough so we have to spread that, good use for that new atv! Plus got the garden tilled today so I have to rake the grass outta there, started on it today but didnt get far.

Neesy-yay, you made it to 170s. I am still trying to get to the 180s. I want to catch up to you. Have you heard anything with your paperwork or when you get to leave for Korea.

momof2-2 miles is great and gives you some quality time with your girls. We're neck and neck. I was at 193 this morning too.

Sandy-did you sleep off the migraine? Hope you feel better today.

Vort-we are all works in progress, just dont give up and you will get there. Bagels and cream cheese, mmmmmm, great willpower!!!

Trying to relax some tonight. Gotta rake the garden and spread some of that gravel. Might get my SIL over to help with that. That should be a good workout. Want to try to clean the house a little tomorrow so I can rearrange my living room furniture. Dont know if there will be enough hours in the day.

Not sure if I will have to get the boys from their grandma tomorrow night or not. Have to call her tomorrow. Hope you all have a great Sunday.

momof2kz 05-01-2010 10:24 PM

sounds like everyone is doing good.
i spent too much money on summer clothes for the girls today. they needed it tho and they have such cute stuff.
went grocery shopping, came home put it all away and mowed lawn for abouat 1 1/2 hrs, spread straw in my flower garden my hubby just tilled for me, so i can plan my flowers when ever they come in mail.
i feel whooped, it was so windy all day my face is wind burnt a little, but the lawn finally looks good.
now to rest the rest of the night with my hubby so we can get up tomorrow and i have in the house chores to do before he goes to bed for the day.
have a good night all

dancerindenver 05-02-2010 11:35 AM

morning, ladies!
I'm planning on moving some more dirt in the backyard and going for a run later. I'm a little sore in funny places from my class but not surprising since you move in all different ways that I don't usually. I'm going to try to go again next saturday but can't make the thursday class this week as I have a hair appt.

momof - you sound like you have as much yard stuff going on as I do! Good exercise though, don't you think?

burgundy - okay, so your relaxing time kind of disappeared on you! We are all yardwork maniacs these days. Are you shooting for miles today?
