It is quiet on here indeed!

Tummy-My side already feels better. I think I must've worked it out differently than normal and it was too fond of it! :)

Today I'm going to be trying to get some of our stuff packed up that we've had at the in-laws. In one week we'll be in our new house, so I don't want to be completely unprepared. There are LOTS of last minute details that I've been tending to the last couple days. It's keeping me on my toes. Today I figured I'd catch up all the laundry and organize/pack clothes, then start organizing odds and ends from Christmas into boxes I got from the grocery store yesterday. I'm not going to worry about getting everything done in one day or anything, so whatever gets done today is good with me. I've got no big plans other than this for the next couple days. Friday DH is taking me on an overnight date which will be a wonderful break from the moving stuff. I'm so joyful and content right now. It's a beautiful place to be! :D

shea5 01-19-2010 02:08 PM

:carrot: Just a quick drive by to say hey, and grats to all our losers this week, and keep hanging in there to the rest of us. I had a small loss this week, but went off plan this weekend and my scale was mean this morning. I missed a couple of workouts, but was back in the gym this morning and on plan, so I'm planning to stick with that. Good luck everyone!

Summer2010 01-19-2010 02:17 PM

I have not weighed-in this week yet (well, at least not officially). My husband's car broke down this morning and it looks like we will need to dish out $490.00 for a new alternator and the cost of labor..yikeees! My husband came home and said "This is the news. Aren't you going to go to WW?" and I was not planning on going until tonight but now I can't go since he took my car to work while his is in the shop....ughhhhhh I'll go tomorrow morning and then post here about my progress thus far!

I had dry beef salami this morning for breakfast and allocated 6 pts to it....that's a lot of points for a small indulgance...not worth it but hey, I have learned my lesson! I am making salmon and veggies for lunch...trying to stay On Plan today!

L R K 01-19-2010 02:19 PM

Ms_P wow the 120's! That's amazing! Congratulations! :cp: :cheer3:

mystical 01-19-2010 02:57 PM

LaurenA  Hope all is well with you ;)

Summer2010 Sorry to hear about your car troubles I really hate when that happens.... Can't wait to hear how you are doing let me know after your WI...:crossed:

shea5 Good job getting right back on track. I know it is hard to get back on track sometimes so you are doing great. :high:

Ms Perception So glad that you side is better. An overnight date WOW that sounds great you deserve a break, everything you have been doing makes me tired just reading it LOL...

Tummy Girl Good luck with the test. I know you will do great. Have fun on the run. :running:

Nella Hope you have a great day :flow1:

As for me I hurt my knee, don't know how, I don't remember doing anything to it but it is all swelled up and it has a big bruise on the side of it. So I haven't been able to do my workouts the last couple of days, Hopefully tomorrow I will be able to start back. On the good side of things I have started losing some weight again.. I know my dietician told me not to check but once a week but I just had to take a peek. LOL I let you all know the official weight loss on Saturday :)

I hope everyone is doing well, it has been very quiet in here keep up the good work hope to hear from you all soon :goodvibes

nellonello 01-19-2010 05:34 PM

A bit more about Chalean Extreme
LE - You asked about the Chalean Extreme Diet. I am not following (yet) as I am not sure it is for me. It has you eat 5 times a day (3 meals and 2 snack) and has 3 phases of the diet portion which goes along with 3 phases of the workout (each is 4 weeks).

Phase 1 (Burn Phase) has you hit a calorie point of between 1200 and 1500 calories depending on your starting weight. It has you focus on low carbs and fats and rich lean protein and veggies.
Phase 2 (Push Phase) adds a bit to portion size and calories from Phase 1.
Phase 3 (Lean Phase) again has you add to portion size and calories from Phase 2 and since this is considered maintenance phase, it has you gradually increase calories until you learn what your body needs to maintain.

What I am personally not a fan of is that in each of the phases it basically gives you recipes to choose from and I felt that I would go broke sticking to their foods.

One of my girlfriends tried the CLX workout with me and she was not as excited about it as P90X as she likes a more rigid "bodybuilding" regimen. I find this is a good workout for me as the videos are about 35-40 minutes and work multiple muscle groups at a time and they are fun :carrot: compared to X. I will say that I do add in Turbo Jam or the elliptical a couple of days a week to ensure that I have additional cardio.

Taurie 01-20-2010 06:29 AM

Lovin' the motivation on this thread!

I broke 122 and now 121.4 lol!!

Ms Perception 01-20-2010 08:50 AM

Good morning, all!! :D

Well, I had a homemade chocolate chip cookie incident last night. I ate several even though I wasn't hungry. There was no major damage on the scale, but I knew I shouldn't have them since I was satisfied and just ate them because they smelled so good! Darn that MIL for baking so often!!! One more week and I'll have COMPLETE kitchen control again! I can't wait!!!!!!!!!! I'm a control freak sometimes, so it drives me a little nuts that someone is baking or cooking things I don't want or need. I truly appreciate their generosity for letting us stay here, but I know she and I both will be glad to have our kitchens to ourselves next week. ;)
Otherwise things are good. We are looking at getting a dog soon too, so I've been online looking into all that (food to buy, etc.). I know it sounds crazy to get a dog right away, but some of our best friends did it the same way and it worked out amazingly well for them. So, we may just add a new pet in the next week or 2 also. The one we're looking at is a house trained 2 y/o, so it's a bit easier than a puppy. Well, that about covers it for me. Time to pay some bills and get some stuff done. Have a great day!!

Nella 01-20-2010 09:21 AM

Morning everyone!

Taurie - WAHOO!!! Me too, see below!

Ms. P - Oh, those darn fresh baked cookies get me every time! At least next week you'll be back in your own place and your own space. Good luck with the doggie finding!

Nello - Good for you for keepin going! I haven't tried either of those programs but they sound interesting.

So, I was a good girl and did my workouts last night. 30 mins of cardio, 15 weights, and some crunches at home watching TBL. Scale said, well it said a lot of things this morning. It's my new scale, but it's being stupid already! I'm going to change the batteries tonight, even though they were just put in there. So it said 161.4, 161.8, 160.8, and 162.0. So averaged out that's 161.5. I'll take it. Don't think I'm some crazy scale person, but I weighted first when I had wet hair (I have thick long hair), so I weighed again after I dried it and it went up!, so then I was pissed, lol, and tried to figure out what was going on.

Any which way, even the highest number was lower than my stuck point of 162.8, so I'm a happy chica!

Also, I joined sparkpeople.com because Fitday isn't doing it for me anymore. The exercises aren't accurate and the calories on a lot of foods are way off. I also like that on sparkpeople there are a lot more exercises to choose from for tracking and they have a water counter. It's silly, but those are the things that motivate me. I'm a "have to see it" kind of person.

Anyway, have a lovely day chickies!!!!

Summer2010 01-20-2010 10:57 AM

I am down 3.5 lbs this week! I am so happy! Whoot whoot!!!

Summer2010 01-20-2010 10:59 AM

Ohh and I forgot to add...that's a total of 7 lbs for the month of January so far. My goal is 15 lbs so we'll see. I still have 10 days so I'll chip at that number as much as I can!

shea5 01-20-2010 11:52 AM

nellonello - That sounds like a fairly complex diet...not sure I could keep up with that either

Taurie - :carrot: Way to go!!

Ms Perception - I can't imagine having to share a kitchen witha baker..hard to resist those fresh baked cookie smell...mmmmm :) It's almost over though!!!

Nella - Scales can be tricky, mine do that too...an average may be a good solution

Summer2010 - awesome job, you are trucking right ahead!

Getting back onto my eating plan...but I'm gettng worried about my goal at this point. The exercise...I know it's slowing me down, and I'm not planning on dropping it, but it's crazy how slow the scale moves. On the positive side...I am starting to see some changes in the mirror, especially in my back. (and since I swim and see myself in bathing suit every other day, it's easy to notice) I've always bulked muscle up pretty easily, so the weights are really taking effect. I may still weigh the same, but I do look better :)

princess2323 01-20-2010 11:52 AM

I'm still on plan thus far.. last week only worked out twice though as baby was sick but this week back on track...
i'm getting better with eating habits too... like yesterday i drank too much coffee and of course scale was up ...so no more coffee...i'm going to get it out of the house even just like i did ice cream ...thats right i havent purchased ice cream in 2 months now and my weight and tummy are thanking me ... cause everytime that stuff was in the house even after i switched to the low fat ice cream i still couldnt resist the urge to eat it all the time.. so yes coffee is going out the door too..

Taurie 01-20-2010 04:56 PM

Ms Perception - I don't blame you for not being able to resist homemade cookies. A new pet sounds wonderful. Always a good excuse to go out for random walks.

Nella - Congrats on breaking that stuck point. :carrot: But, that's strange that your scale gave a higher weight with dry hair. I always weight myself first thing in the morning (after I go to the bathroom and fully naked). I won't even have a sip of water before I weight myself. I'm a bit of a freak like that. :D

Summer2010 - Congrats! That's amazing! :carrot:

shea5 - Benefiting from visual results is fantastic! Keep up the good work. Maybe we should have a thread that goes by inches lost... I think that's a better indicator anyway.

princess2323 - Really? What do you put in your coffee? I agree with not even keeping low fat snacks in the house. My favourite is Ben and Jerry's low fat Cherry Garcia frozen yogurt. It so tasty and better than the ice cream version, the problem is that I eat the entire carton! So good on you for not buying any for 2 months! ;)

Ms Perception 01-20-2010 10:35 PM

Taurie-I am the exact same about weighing in the morning. I figure that's the easiest way to keep it consistant.

No big news to report today. I got some papers cleaned and organized and decided to start gathering stuff to prepare our taxes. I can't believe I'm actually in the mood to start messing with them in the midst of all the other stuff going on, but it's actually a stress reliever for me. I feel in control with it.....sick, I know. At one point, I considered becoming an accountant for that reason. Anyway, I need to keep my time on here short for now, but hope all is going well for everyone. It's still a bit too quiet on here.

LouisaH 01-21-2010 12:44 AM

Taurie and MsP: I'm the same about weighing second thing in the morning (first thing is going to the bathroom), buck nekked. It's the only way to be completely consistent.

The groovy round scale I bought was great when I first stepped on it, and it said 206.6. Then I stepped on again to try to get a feel for it (does it matter where I step on the platform?), and it said 208. Then 207.6, then 203, then 204, then 209, etc. WTF? I never got the same number twice. So it went right back in the box and I have to return it. I'm now looking for a scale online. Argh. It's just as well, Tom showed up last night and it feels like he'd be riding piggy back if I stepped on the scale now.

I'll do my week three weigh in as soon as I get a scale. I'm eating the proper calories (even with a bite or two of sweets on occasion so I don't feel deprived), drinking 12-16 c. of water a day, and exercising five days a week, so I think I'll pass my 10 pound goal for the month...I think.

Congrats to everyone on the little successes! Thanks for keeping me motivated.

Taurie 01-21-2010 04:50 AM

Stupid scales! The one at my gym does that and it looks like a fancy one too. I have a Tanita which is painfully honest when it comes to weight. Though I'm skeptical about the body fat % measurement feature. I'm pear shaped with no fat on my upper body. I think if maybe my fat was more evenly distributed it would read lower. Oh well.

Nella 01-21-2010 07:18 AM

So, scale said (more than once, lol) 160.0!!!!!!!!!!

Yay!!!! Those 150's are so close I can taste them!

More later, just got excited and had to report that before I went to work!

Shrinking Girl 01-21-2010 08:32 AM

Hey Everyone

Just thought I'd check in and say hi. I'm still lurking around out here, just not taking time to post very often as I am keeping myself busy and don't really have time for personals. Sounds like all of you are doing fantastic! Keep up the great work.
As for me, after the crazy, mad, rapid weight loss and a bit of stress-eating, I have stabilized at 178 so I'm updating my ticker to show the 1 lb gain. I'm not surprised... at all... but I'm back to my running and back OP for the most part.
Have a great day!

Tummy Girl 01-21-2010 11:19 AM

Just a quickie today!

SG - Glad you checked in!

Nella - Just in case you want to be spark friends, lol, that sounds lame, my username over there is tummy_girl :) Woohoo on the 160! That's amazing, I could have sworn you were just in the 170's!

Taurie, MsP, Louisa, Princess, Shea, Summer, Nello must run to get in all the stuff I didn't do yesterday!

Still hanging out at 138, it's been like 2 weeks almost and I think my body might like it here. Might be time for the tape measure!

jellofer2 01-21-2010 12:09 PM

Good morning ladies!!! I officially graduated from Physical Therapy today. I am now moving on to working with the personal trainer 2 times per week. WooHOo!!! I am still recovering from my swim in the carb ocean. But with time that will show on the scale.

With much consultation from my DH, PT and trainer and lots of soul searching I have made a decision.

I am going to do a triathlon. It is local and in June. The 13th to be exact. Training is going to be tough and merciless. But what a challenge. IT is a women's tri sprint distance. 75K swim, 22K bike 5K run. I can do this. I have to work on my training schedule this weekend. And start swimming FFebruary 1st. OMG. but this is good.

Looks like everyone is doing well. I was so close to goal, then went for my swim and now have to do it again. But that is ok. clothes are still fitting better and better. I am not sure if I shared this yet, but I was able to buy pajamas right off the clearance rack at Kohl's the other day in an XL. Woop!!! no 2X or 1X. simply XL. Yipee. Stuff is so cheap when it is on clearance. :)

Have a great day. Will catch up on personals later.

Nella 01-21-2010 12:45 PM

Jello - That is all great news!!! Good luck with your training! And yes, I love the clearance rack too!

nellonello 01-21-2010 01:03 PM

Jello - Good for you!! Isn't it a great feeling to be able to shop in regular stores? Keep us posted on your Tri training.

Ms Perception 01-21-2010 01:07 PM

Hey all! A quick post to say, I'm at exactly 129.6 again (or still). So I'm okay with that. BF is still 1.5% higher than I'd like, but I'm not sure it'll change much until I get back to running, which will be very soon.
Got some organizing done already today, as well as my workouts, so now it's time to get lunch ready. Have a great, healthy day!

mystical 01-21-2010 04:05 PM

Hello everyone just a quick check in. Had a really crazy day yesterday. I got a call from the school yesterday and some other kid pushed my son into the wall and wouldn't you know it (our luck) It broke his bone and pushed it into his growth plate in his arm... They put a temp. cast on it and we will see the bone specialist in the morning. Crazy day, so needless to say yesterday I was POP until we ended up in the ER and clinic all night so it was a quick hamburger at a fast food YUCK! but I am back to my plan today and feeling much better... SO lots of water for me today.

My dietician's plan has really been helping me out so much. I just wished I could be doing my workouts but my knee still can't take the weight yet so I am just stuck with making sure the food intake is POP... Hopefully I will be able to get back to the routine soon and get to my goal for the first time so keep your fingers crossed for me. I'll check in soon .... Hope you all are having a great day... :)

LouisaH 01-21-2010 05:23 PM

Jellofer: you are a wild woman! What a great goal. That is really going to whip you into shape and keep you swimming in healthy waters rather than in the carb swamps. Real clothes...ah, good for you. It's nice to feel average, isn't it?

Mystical: Zoiks! What a mess. Hope everything heals quickly, including your knee and your son's arm! Keep the motivation up! You'll be back to it soon.

I finally hit my 20 day 20 post minimum so I could add a signature and ticker. Let's see if it looks like what it's supposed to. I started a blog too. Yikes!

Taurie 01-21-2010 05:26 PM

Jello - That's great that your doing the Tri. I wish I was that brave... and I had a better foot.

Mystical - sorry to hear about your son. That is awful. I hope he heals quickly. What is POP?

lovemyself 01-21-2010 06:57 PM

Hi all!!!

OK, I've just signed up for FC, but I want in!!! My goal for January is to lose 7 pounds, bringing me from 246 to 239!!! Fingers crossed, ya'll!!!

1/4/10- 246
1/11/10- 243
1/18/10- 242

Good luck to you all!

mystical 01-21-2010 10:42 PM

Taurie POP (perfect on plan)

Thanks for all the concern, we go to the bone specialist tomorrow so hopefully we will get good news. My knee is getting better slowly DH said I should see the doctor and I told him if I went in when my son did they might just think we had a big family fight LOL..... He said no you are just stubborn I guess I would have to agree with him but if it doesn't get better I will have it checked out soon.

Nella 01-22-2010 09:01 AM

SO, I have to follow up yesterdays great post, with a "shame on me" post. DH emailed me in the middle of the day yesterday and said "so and so wants to meet up for dinner tonight" Well, this is our friend who just got back from Afghanistan and was injured by a road side bomb while he was there. So I say sure and we decide on a Mexican restaurant. Bad idea. I love Mexican food.

So we meet there, get chatty and then when it's time to order, I panic and pick the first thing that sounds OK. Beef tip burrito. WRONG!!! It was 2 burritos (tortilla with only meat in them) covered in cheese sauce (OMG my favorite stuff ever). I ate one and took the other home, and ate about half the rice. Oh, I ate chips and salsa too and some guacamole. And to add insult to injury, I didn't have time to go work out because he came back to our house afterwards. So, I can't accurately count my calories, but I tried my best, and it put me over by at least 500, probably more like 800. I feel crappy about it. It was like letting a kid out in a candy store. I wanted to eat it all. Lesson learned, I can't go out to eat at a Mexican place.

But, it's out in the open and I can move on now. No gym tonight because it closes at 5, so double JM's videos tonight and 2 hard workouts over the weekend. I tired to combat some of the sodium bloat and drank tons of water, but I was up to 161.2 this morning. My mantra today will be "Water water everywhere" and hopefully I can fix what I messed up.

tigga 01-22-2010 12:53 PM

Hi All,
I am down a total of 9lbs but having a tough week, I will try and pick up on the execise this week end and maybe hit my goal on monday.

Ms Perception 01-22-2010 03:26 PM

Celebrate the victories, girls!! Nella, I would've eaten the whole thig right there, so good job for controlling it! tigga, 9 lbs is AMAZING! You should feel awesome about that!

I'm fluctuating around the same pound still. DH are going on our overnight date tonight and tomorrow's busy, so I'll be scarce until Sunday. Have a great weekend all!!

jellofer2 01-22-2010 10:29 PM

Enjoy yourself mrs. P!!!

Nella---your trip to the Mexican restaurant reminded me of my swim in the carb ocean. You will work it off in no time.

Well....I actually have a reason why the scale hasn't moved much this week. TOM!!!! he thought he would surprise me a week early. Isn't that so thoughtful of him. So that would explain a ton. but the scale did sip 1.8 today, so I am hoping that I am on my way back towards goal.

Have a great weekend ya'll!!!

kris2008 01-23-2010 09:20 AM

1/1/10: 174
1/9/10: 171
1/16/10: 173
1/23/10: 170
1/31/10 GOAL: 165

My original goal was 165, don't think I'll make that one. I will be happy to be 168 on January 31. Unfortunately, I've been off the healthy road exactly the same amount of days I've been on this month. I'm fortunate to be down 4 pounds. I WILL finish off the next 9 days uber strong!! And then look out February!

Summer2010 01-23-2010 09:31 AM

Wednesday and Thursday were kind of bad for me but I started back on plan on Friday...and I am committed to go to the gym every day until Tuesday..This is day 2!

Shrinking Girl 01-23-2010 10:01 AM

Totally just lost a huge post.

In summary. I hope everyone is doing great.
I weighed in today and I've lost 32.5 inches total.
I'm gonna post this now before it too is gone.

Tummy Girl 01-23-2010 11:43 AM

Congrats to everyone on the loses, my goodness there's some big ones out there! And SG, those inches, that's marvelous!

I'm bouncing around my same pound too, maybe the body likes 138 better than 135, for now ;). Oh well, I'm hanging out at my maintenance calories anyway so it's nice to know it's not going up! And I guess if I really wanted it lower, I'd eat less, lol.

Alrighty gotta hit the weights and get some studying in before a phone date with a friend of mine. You know you're busy when you schedule phone time, hilarious.

Have a great saturday ladies!

LouisaH 01-23-2010 02:38 PM

I feel like I'm in a daytime drama. I found out late Thursday that my sister who lives in Alaska died, they think of heart failure (but since she's on Medicaid, they don't do autopsies). She was only 47. Her 17 and 18 year old daughters are now there by themselves (no dad), don't know what's next. Ugh. Everything will turn out just how it's supposed to, but ugh. Emotional turmoil sucks. Our mom died when I was 16 (I'm the youngest of 7), and Dad just died in August. I was already over this death thing a long time ago.

Anyway, life does go on, and my weight, according to my unreliable temporary scale, is 205.6, so I have 2.6 pounds to go to reach my January 10-pound goal. I'm doing great on my exercise and diet--it's been easy this past week since DH was out of town. He's back tonight and we have a house guest. I'm making dinner so I can control the calories, but that booze is a mighty temptress...

Everyone is doing so great on this challenge, and love hearing the progress reports--keep it up, a week to go!

Tummy Girl 01-24-2010 11:39 AM

Louisa - OMG that's terrible, you've had a whole lot to deal with in this last little bit, my goodness. Your nieces sure are in a tough spot too. And at least you can control that dinner, always best that way :)

Quiet weekend round here. Just wanted to stick my head in to say hello then off to study and drop garbage at the dump, yes the exciting life I lead. But at least today I'll get in some extra studying time with no worlouts and things, here's hoping. And well, if the garbage doesn't go soon I won't be able to make it out of my house, I'll be trapped!

Scale is still in love with 138 so I guess I will be too and leave it at that for today. Have a brilliant day ladies.

Ms Perception 01-24-2010 08:38 PM

Been off plan for a couple days. Keeping busy with packing, planning, setting up deliveries of appliances, furniture, phone service, etc. It's not excuse, but I'm just saying there's a lot going on and I'm exhausted. My overnight date was AWESOME and we had a fantastic time. It was just what I needed but now I can't seem to catch up on sleep. ;) Gotta love alone time with DH!
Well, I'm going to eat better now and stop indulging myself just because I'm too tired and busy to care. This week will only get busier, so I better get my head on straight. I'll be on here as much as I can early in the week, 'cuz from about Wednesday afternoon to Saturday I won't have online access much and we'll be doing the majority of our moving on Saturday. Hope everyone's doing well and enjoying the benefits of healthy living!

All times are GMT -4. The time now is 06:37 PM.
