Late to the game 01-06-2010 08:04 PM

Hi chickies
Wish I had time for personals, I check the posts everyday, but since I want to do personals, and don't have time, I don't. I'll try this weekend. I just wanted to say:welcome: to all the newbies, and :wave:to everyone else
I managed to lose the 4.2 lbs I gained the last ten days of December, and the chocolate cravings that resurfaced have gone back into hibernation :carrot: I'm finding it hard to get back in the work out groove, though.

SANDYE is crazy busy with purging/organizing/crafting. She'll be back!

Have a great Thursday, everyone!

mystical 01-06-2010 09:02 PM

LaurenA Yes it is very nice to have such a great relationship with my husband. On the downfall of that he is my biggest support when we lose weight together but he will also never tell me no and we will gain wait together LOL

bigmomma 01-06-2010 10:08 PM

Shrinking Girl 01-07-2010 07:27 AM

Good Morning Everyone!

nellonello Definitely drink your water! It'll make all the difference in the world!

Msp Look at you kicking butt at losing all that Christmas weight! Hope you feel better soon, it's no fun being sick. :(

Meredith You're in good company, man many many of us are scale addicts. Myself included. Congrats on the weight loss!

mystical Awesome! You sound like you're doing great and you've really made me consider talking to a dietician myself. Definitely something to ponder. The one thing that's motivating me the most about my running is that I've NEVER been able to run. I've never been able to run a mile and now that I'm running 2-3 miles or more at a time, it seems like I must be cheating somehow. Silly, I know but that's what makes me do it again and again.

Dixiemae Congrats on that BMI!!! I wish mine was that low! Great job on the weight loss!

LTTG So great to see you! Thanks for the update on Sandye. Way to go at losing the holiday weight and kicking those chocolate cravings to the curb! Amazing how easily they come back, isn't it? You'd think once you got them gone, they'd have the good sense to STAY gone!

Well, it's a snow day for me... school was called off. Thank goodness because I don't like driving in this ick. Scale had me at 181.6 this morning which seems pretty impossible but naturally I can't wait to see if that holds for tomorrow. I'm not sure how many calories I've been eating the last couple days but I do know I've fallen way under my 1800, probably more around 1300 for the last couple of days and yeah.. I guess that would put me at a pound lost. Still, I'm suspicious (as I always am of any weight loss... you'd think I'd learn by now). Anyway I'm nearing the end of the 180's and man does that feel great. I totally remember watching the biggest loser and when they showed one girl now she weighed 188 and I was like "man, that could be me sometime soon." And now I'm heading towards goal! Can't even begin to tell you guys how this feels... but I'm sure some of you know.

Have a great day!

Nella 01-07-2010 10:08 AM

Hey girls!!! I'm here - finally!!!! Been in a tizzy since getting back from vacation on Sunday.

I'll get back for personals because I have a lot of reading to do. I just wanted to let you know I didn't abandon you!

Quick check in for me: Maintained over Xmas and our vacation to NY. Scale is moving down again today 163.2. I'm ready to say bye-bye to these 160's. They've been hanging around for far too long. Did some weights last night. Plan on some cardio tonight. I'm ready to kick this new year into high gear and get to goal.

Shrinking Girl - Wanted to add, your new pic is great!!! I can totally see a difference in your face from the last pic! Enjoy the snow day!

Nella 01-07-2010 10:11 AM

Oh, I need to pick a goal! Ms. P put me down for 8 pounds this month please. Started at 165.6 on Jan 4.

Dixiemae 01-07-2010 10:20 AM

The scale says 164 this morning. Its been slow going, been sick since Christmas eve. Head cold and flu. Then my purse got stolen. Its been a time. Thank goodness I had my drivers licenes and library cards in my pocket. I cancled my bank acount and opened a new one. my Check book was in my purse. insurance cards etc had to be cancled and new ones issued. What little money I had is all gone. It was a nasty time. But any way my weight is down, headed for 159

shea5 01-07-2010 10:57 AM

Ah, the scale...love it when it's down...just kind of "eh" when it's a maintain...but that's the peril of weighing every day...I'm going to stop weighing in until Monday now, but at least I know I have to remain vigilant. I did get to the gym this morning for some cardio and weight training. I did have some diet sweets yesterday, which might have contributed to my lack of loss...just need to avoid those :)

Dixiemae - Bummer about the lost wallet..that always sucks....

Ms Perception 01-07-2010 12:12 PM

Hello All!

Nella-Glad you're back! How was the trip? You did pretty well to maintain during holidays and a trip!! Awesome!

Dixiemae-Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry to hear about getting your purse stolen. What a nightmare! On the upside, you are still working toward this month's goal and not giving up. Keep up the good work!

Shea-I weigh frequently, so I'm pretty sure I'd hate waiting several days to weigh-in. Good for you for being able to do it. Once I hit goal and maintenance, I plan to weigh only once a week or so just to keep myself in line, but I'm not there yet!

SG-Thankfully, the sickness is basically gone now. I wish I was kicking the holiday weight's butt. Unfortunately it's kicking mine! I'm still up a couple pounds from my low in December. I'm on the doorstep of reaching my final goal but I'm experiencing the consequences of a week+ off exercise and good food choices...so not much scale movement. :( LOL Seriously, I bet it'll be gone by next week, and I'm not in a huge rush since I feel great and know I'm eating right and exercising again.

bigmomma and Nella-I'll get you girls on the list once I post it on the next page. :D

No love from the scale today despite being OP yesterday and even resisting a candy bar when DH had one. Shouldn't I earn a loss for that reason alone?! Oh well, onward and downward! Another healthy day on schedule for today. I've gotten my workouts in, though I chose a shorter strength workout today since I still have some muscle soreness from Monday...how sad is that?!? Anyway, I'm feeling much better and my cold is pretty well gone. Week 1 of January is about done and it's time to make sure we're still on-track for those goals! Don't quit now!!

hotstuff 01-07-2010 12:19 PM

1/1: 175
1/6: 173 (scale read in at 171 but then again, it's TOM and my New Year's festivities).:carrot: for an extra 300 calories some day soon! Maybe this weekend!!!

Nella 01-07-2010 01:47 PM

So minor happy news here:

Entered my stuff on Fitday from yesterday. Right on target! I had 3 calories to spare, lol. But the better part was at 163.2 I am now considered in the "overweight" category, no longer "obese" ! I still think the BMI is stupid and doesn't take into account muscle mass, bone mass, amongst other things. But it will feel good for the computer/ Wii to stop telling me I'm obese!

Ok, carry on folks :)

Taurie 01-07-2010 02:07 PM

We finished our first week of Jan today! I love the motivation on this thread.

The scale hasn't moved since my last post, but I'm still down one; better than being back up!!!

ilunikavi 01-07-2010 02:29 PM

Hi! Im late in joining this team, I hope that's alright. I only found out about this website this week.

If joining late's no problem: my goal for February 1st is 205 - I am currently 215.8 (last weigh in was January 1st)

Looking forward to reaching our goals together!

Delphi 01-07-2010 04:53 PM

Hi ladies!

I know I said with the new year would come a new commitment to the end of my journey, however sadly, my dear little Canaan finally lost his battle and passed away New Years Day. Although Canaan really did not get to live his life and spent his time here miserable, I'm still at a loss for words. Four years simply doesn't seem long enough. I try to take comfort in the fact that he is no longer suffering, but I can't help but longing for my dearest Canaan back. For you ladies that have been around awhile, you know how big of a struggle this was for him and for myself. And I know logically, I should be elated that my precious boy is now doing all the things you couldn't do on this earth. But selfishly I find it little comfort. I'm really trying to do my best but I've simply feel empty. I can honestly say that finding Canaan that morning was the most indescribable feeling a mother can ever feel. It's like all of a sudden all the warmth is drained from your soul and your heart simply withers. We finally laid him to rest Tuesday on a rather frigid day and now the healing process begins.

I just wanted to let you gals know why I wasn't around after all my big talk last month. It's a very difficult time for me and my boys, and please pray, that I can maintain my sanity and find some peace. And MsP thanks for the message, I appreciate it and for those of you that spread the word, thank you as well. I really wanted to get on here sooner and let you ladies know, but I'm such a wreck right now, I'm doing good to even take my next breath. Anyways, I love you ladies and keep up the great work. And please, treasure your days with your kids and loved ones.

mystical 01-07-2010 06:01 PM

Delphi My heart goes out to you sweetie. I know you will have a rough road ahead of you, My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. If you need anything or if there is anything I can do please don't hesitate to let me know. I love you!

LouisaH 01-07-2010 06:19 PM

Poor baby. I know there are no words to console that sort of pain, and I hope you can keep a healthy frame of mind. Dealing with something this hard makes losing weight look easy.

May happy memories soon replace the pain.

Nella 01-07-2010 06:32 PM

Delphi,

Losing a child is something that no one can unerstand unless they have been there. I hope that you can find peace and solace in knowing that he is in a better place. Take all the time you need to grieve. I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say, if there is anything we can do, please just let us know.

My thoughts will be with you and your family.

Shrinking Girl 01-07-2010 08:23 PM

Delphi,
My thoughts and prayers are with you. I wish there was something I could do to ease the pain you're feeling. Please know we're here for you if you need us.

jellofer2 01-07-2010 08:24 PM

Oh Delphi! My heart aches for you and your family. My prayers for you as you grieve your loss. We are all here for you.

jellofer2 01-07-2010 08:30 PM

Wow, You don't check in for a few days and you miss so much. I got all things straight with the doctor and am cruising on plan.

Staying at 239.0 this am. Had alot of salt yesterday. So, today I was POP. Felt great. Figured out my calories and protein for today. Still no even 1200. But I have burned over 3000 cals today. So, need to get a bit more in before bed. Not sure how to pull that one off, but I will figure it out. But then that may burn some calories. Anyway, great workout with Physical therapy today. Got to finally run. only 1 minute bursts, but still it was running. We have a 5k coming up in May and I am gonna run it.

The biggest loser challenge at work has gotten so large. The 1st place prize is well over $300. Amazing. I am so excited about it.

I will post personals later. Must get more protein.

Love and light to all my peeps, especially Delphi.

nellonello 01-07-2010 09:51 PM

Delphi - You and your family will definitely be in our prayers. Your strength over these last months has been amazing and I know that you are strong enough to get you and your family through this.

Dixiemae 01-07-2010 10:22 PM

Delphi~  I am so sorry to hear this. My heart and prayers go out to you. do the best you can and the Lord will take care of the rest. I understand how you feel. I am crying for you.

Delphi-I'm glad you're still there, taking on day at a time. Love to you from all of us.

jellofer-That's a heck of a calorie burn. Good job, but get some cals so you're not starving. I'll never understand how people struggle getting enough cals. I've got cals on a waiting list...just ready for me whenever I have room for them! LOL

A wonderfully OP day here. That is impressive since I helped my kids make graham cracker gingerbread houses with frosting, candies, etc. and ate exactly one m&m the whole time. I realize it's a bit late for this project, but Christmas was so busy and since we're at the IL's I had to be careful not to mess up their house since they hosted some of the festivites. Now we have a bit more freedom, so we did it now. We're easy going folk who enjoy this stuff whenever time allows. It was fun watching the kids enjoying the creative process and I kept telling myself, "I'm not hungry. I don't need this stuff." And miraculously I listened to myself!

LouisaH 01-08-2010 02:29 AM

Jellofer, I would be willing to give up a few of my extra calories for you--that's the kind of dedicated team player I am.

I was down 1.4 pounds as of yesterday morning, but tonight I hosted a little party with drinkin' buddies I hadn't seen for a while, and didn't even attempt to count calories, but did attempt to regulate quantity and drink water between bevvies. I did get in a good hour of aerobics today. Tomorrow will tell.

MeowMix 01-08-2010 08:40 AM

Checking in with my first weigh in for the month.

Down 2 pounds!! Woot!

2/8 pounds down.

Scatterheart 01-08-2010 10:15 AM

I'm jumping at the chance to join this team late.

My goal for January: lose 10.8 pounds.

Aiela 01-08-2010 10:27 AM

Checking in late (because I just came back to this site today, yay for getting back on track!)

My goal for the rest of January will be to climb my minutes per week of exercise up to 240, and then stay there until Feb, when I shoot for a higher goal!

Week 1 (12/28-1/3) : 158 mins
Week 2 (1/4 - 1/10) : ??? More, I hope!

Shrinking Girl 01-08-2010 10:38 AM

Hey Everyone!

No time for personals but I wanted to check in and say hi. The scale said something ridiculous this morning 180.2. Not sure what's going on, if TOM had me super bloated and maybe I was super bloated anyway from Christmas/break carbohydrates or something. We shall see what it says in a day or two. It would be awesome if that stuck. Totally awesome.
Here's hoping for an OP for everyone!

Dixiemae 01-08-2010 10:58 AM

just checking in to say hi.I weighed in this morning at 163.7. Who would have thunk it! Im very pleased the scale is going down.

Ms Perception 01-08-2010 11:04 AM

SG-Claim those losses, you silly woman! Why do you refuse to believe these wonderful things?! You are ROCKING this month!!

:welcome: Scatterheart and Aiela! Just a note: We have a sister thread where we keep track of exercise goals: January Exercise Challenge. The list here includes other health and weight related goals. Please join us on the other thread also to track exercise progress! We are also more of the "chat" thread (of the 2) where everyone lets us know how they're doing. So glad to have you with us now!! :D

I was down a smidge this morning and I guess I'm retaining a bit due to pre-TOM because I'm due a bigger loss than the scale is showing. It is certainly keeping me on track though since I'm determined to get down to a new low ASAP. Otherwise, OP and feeling good here!

I can't possibly imagine what that must be like, I know how rough it has been for you over the past few months, my thoughts and prayers are with you.

I know it must be hard but try and stay strong.

L R K 01-08-2010 11:55 AM

Oh ... and down 3.5lbs this week ...

Tummy Girl 01-08-2010 12:53 PM

Hi ladies,

I'm back from my travels and glad to see so many folks doing so well. I picked up a few pounds along the way but I'll give it a couple of days and see where I'm at when the bloat clears.

I have piles of laundry and unpacking calling my name so I will go and attend to that for now and get all caught up soon.

tyla 01-08-2010 07:13 PM

I was doing so well, and then I had a set back today. I got on the scale and it said I only lost 1/2 lb. I know it's no excuse to overeat, but I did anyway. Sorry guys. OK, now that I've admitted it, I will start over now. Maybe that 10 lb. goal was to much to strive for. Can you please change that to 5 lbs. Thanks, Ms. Perception. I feel awful about this.

LouisaH 01-08-2010 08:57 PM

tyla, don't feel awful, just work out harder tomorrow to cover those calories and stay on track! You're still doing so well (go for that other five pounds just to show off!).

I lost a bunch of weight a long time ago (never hit goal), and after I quit smoking 11 years ago I gained it all back and never took it off again. I'm remembering how I have to obsess on this whole weight loss topic to stay on top of it. And how hard it is when my coworkers say, What should we do for lunch? and I say, Um, I'm not playing (I'm in the food biz, and we always cook and eat together). But I'm sure I'll be encouraging healthier eating there for everyone. Thank goodness I have all of you to bore to tears with all the trials and tribulations and I re-enter the weight-loss world!

Tiffrutherf 01-08-2010 09:48 PM

Oh dang am I to late?? I just had a baby in Nov.. I was 293 when I went in now Im 250 (all baby wieght) but one heck of a start! I would love to get down to 239 by Feb. 10 pounds! I had a c-section and I just got the ok to workout!
