RockyMtnGirl 01-04-2010 09:08 AM

Good Morning Everybody!
So far so good... lost 2lbs this month... 13lbs to go!
I have my fiance's company trip to Vail, CO coming up the weekend of January 22nd and I'm trying to fit into this gorgeous dress I bought a size too small since it was an AMAZING deal and just stunning... I have about an 1-2inch gap in the back where it wont zip under my chest area... not sure how much weight I have to use to get it to zip up completely, but I really want to wear it at the big dinner event... I'm going to try like crazy to make it work!!!

tryintoloseit4good 01-04-2010 10:41 AM

I want to try to lose at least 5 pounds in January. Slow but steady. I don't want to set any unrealistic goals this time. I want to do what I can and be healthy and realistic.

tryintoloseit4good 01-04-2010 10:43 AM

Is it too late to join since the list was typed up?? Let me know! Thanks!!

KimL1214 01-04-2010 10:48 AM

The Holidays really killed me... sooooo... goal for January is to get back down to 260...

Shrinking Girl 01-04-2010 11:20 AM

Hey Everyone!

Well, it's back to work for me today and as usual I'm scrambling to try to compensate for changes in student schedules and whatnot. I'm telling ya, the 2 weeks off must have been enough for people to actually see me again when I came back because so many people have commented on my weight loss today it's insane. It's like they didn't realized I'd changed at all before and now all of a sudden everyone is acting like I've dropped these 42 lbs over the last 2 weeks! I must admit the compliments are great though and exactly what I need to get myself motivated again and 100% back on plan, no more of this stupid snacking I've been doing which has slowed down my weight loss.

KimL Glad to see ya!

MsP Thanks so much for taking the time to type up the list. I reallllly appreciate it!

tyla 01-04-2010 11:53 AM

Just checking in to say that I've been working at it. I've been counting my cals, drinking my water and exercising.

Congrats on your weight losses, RockyMtnGirl and Shrinking Girl!

Thank you for typing up that long list of names and goals, Ms. Perception.

And good luck, everyone!

VickieLou 01-04-2010 11:57 AM

My January Weight Loss Goal is to reach 220.

SW: 234.8

GW: 220

Bigmid 01-04-2010 12:33 PM

Thanks Ms Perception for doing up the list I'm sure it takes forever going back and forth on the posts and typing. It is apprieciated.

Well here it is Monday morning and the start of my challange. I gave myself til normal work schedual came into play. I did only gain 1.6 from my lowest over the holidays so I can live with that so that means a 9lb loss for the month. I really need to up my water so that will jump start things. As well as the running up the stairs constantly to the bathroom to get rid of the water for my exercise...LOL

Have a great day everyone

L R K 01-04-2010 12:36 PM

Hi Girls

Happy New year all! I hope you had a safe and fun holiday period.

I am back and I am in! Goal for this month *again* is that allusive Onderland. 80 odd posts for this months challenge and it is only the 4th, crazy stuff.

1st day back to work after 11 days off and boy was it tough to get up this morning! And how f$%^& cold was it this morning geez ...

Anyways, I don't want to make any mention of how terrible my eating was over the holiday period so I am going to put that behind me and move forward. Doing a detox thing for the next 2 days (from LA weight loss days) just to kick start my weight loss after the holidays.

I am sitting at 205.5 this morning *yikes* so quite the jump but I am hoping by the end of the month it will all be gone. I am not going to be dissapointed with myself or moan about how hard it is to lose weight because this gain was totally my fault and I cannot say I regret putting on that 4lbs over the holidays because I truly had a fantastic time. So I am looking foward and will be working hard to reach my goal this month.

Have a happy and healthy OP day :)

Gekster 01-04-2010 12:46 PM

First day exercising since before finals.. Harsh. But I made it through and am on the road back to routine. The puppy is on a regular napping pattern so it is easy to work around that for working out. Food should be good now, the rest of the holiday leftovers are gone and the fridge is stocked with fruits and veggies galore so I think I am back on track.

Ms Perception 01-04-2010 12:47 PM

For those who asked...it's NEVER too late to sign-up for these threads! You'll be added to the list the next time I post it (every few days), so :welcome3:

Normally, I'd attempt to welcome new people by name, but this challenge has exploded with new and previous participants (more of whom I'm hoping to see..I'm talking to you SANDYE and FSA) which has made that quite a challenge in itself. :) I love seeing so many on here and hope that doesn't intimidate some into not posting. Just let us know how it's going when time permits. We're here to support each other and learn from those who've experienced things we're going through and all that jazz.

SG-I'm glad the compliments are flowing in now. It is so much easier to notice changes when you're not with someone everyday. You're finally getting the kudos you deserve! :) You're welcome for the list...it's a doozy this time. Gotta love the new year and the new commitment it brings to healthy living!!

Bigmid-No problem! 1.6 gain from the holidays isn't bad at all. I wish I could say the same!

tyla-Keep up the good work! It's nice to have the list so we're all reminded what we're shooting for. It was another member's idea 6 months back or so and we've stuck with it because everyone seems to really like it.

As for me, I'm still working on holiday weight. Today was a serious workout day, trying my new ST'ing (2 thumbs up!) and including 30DS and WATP for cardio. I'm sure this will help me replace the fat with muscle. I'm looking forward to finding the weight that's right for me so I can rebuild my wardrobe!! (So shallow, I know! LOL)

sockmonkey 01-04-2010 03:20 PM

Hi all! So, I was up 2.2 lbs after the holidays and all the eating I did but the good thing is, I am back down 1.4 lbs as of this morning. I've had a rough start and plan to start exercising again today and really start counting my calories on the daily plate. Good luck to you all!!!

Taurie 01-04-2010 05:03 PM

I'm down 1 lb to 123!!

Slimming 01-04-2010 06:03 PM

I'm still 212 and holding...this scale better move soon or else....

jellofer2 01-04-2010 06:48 PM

ok. So my head is back in the game. Have done POP today. My unit at the hospital has started a biggest loser challenge which started today and ends on March 31. The biggest percent of weight lost is the winner. There are enough of us in that the prize is 150$. That is something to work for. A coworker of mine has challenged me She thinks that she can beat me. She is doing a largest loser challenge at her gym. But I know what works for me and now have the motivation to keep it up. I am meeting with the doctor tomorrow. I need to let him now that the carbs that hed put me on 3 weeks ago were too much for me to handle. I am going back to my atkins ways and going to start increasing my carbs by 5 each week. Then I can get control. I see the trainer saturday and have physical therapy tuesday and thursday. I have worked alot these past few days and then my grandmother was in the hospital since thursday. So if I wasn't at my hospital to work, I was there with her. But we figured out what to do with her and things will be good. TOM is gone, but not without a path of destruction in his wake. 242.6 this am. But that is ok. I only put on 2.6 pounds over the holidays. So I have proven to myself that I can maintain. Now we step it up and I shall overcome. Onderland here I come. I want to hit it by the 31 of march. I think that that would be enough to win the challenge at work.

Best dishes to you all. I am off to class now.

Dixiemae 01-04-2010 09:24 PM

Still holding at 166.2. Grrrrrr the scale better move soon or I will have to sacrifice a red ripe tomato (old joke from another thread). Im determined to get to 159!! Holidays are past. Exercise has been good. Why isn't the scale moving?

Muffentop 01-04-2010 11:58 PM

Happy New Year!

New to the site... but would like to participate in this challenge. I think I'll set my goal at a 10 lb loss. My current weight is 249.2

jellofer2 01-05-2010 12:34 AM

Welcome Muffintop!!! Good luck on your 10 pounds. These monthly challenges are great. Tons of support also!!!

MsP---thanks for putting out list of goals together!!! What a PITA that must be. Glad to see you again this month. Happy New you!!! and Year!!!

DixieMae--are you eating enough calories. Drinking enough water? Also, be patient. When we worry and fret over the darn scale (and I say this with experience) I think we tend to hold on to weight. Plus your body needs to readjust. It will happen for you.

Good night all!!!

Shrinking Girl 01-05-2010 08:26 AM

Hello Everyone!

tyla Woohoo, keep on keepin on!

bigmid Hey, that's a thought... I should start going to the bathroom on the other side of the school and up the stairs! Nice!

LaurenA WooHoo! That's the ticket, let's get the holiday weight off without kicking yourself repeatedly for putting it on... it IS the holidays after all and as long as you take it back off... then I think everything is peachy keen!

Gekster Sounds like you're off to a great start! Care to stock my fridge with fruits and veggies as well?

MsP Totally not shallow... totally practical. I'm so tired of only having the minimum of outfits to get me through the week. I can't wait until I start maintaining somewhere so I can buy me some clothes!

sockmonkey Glad the weight is moving off you fast!

Taurie Congrats on the loss!

jellofer Welcome back to the game, chickie! I hope you blow that challenge out of the water and shock the heck out of your coworker!

Well, I'm nearly out of time but wanted to check in. TOM, bless his heart is on his way out and so I saw 182.something on the scale today. I'm so happy I could sing! I'm glad to be back at work and back to my normal eating pattern...sooo much better!
I bought a pair of size 14 jeans the other day. They don't fit... nearly do but not quite yet. It's the first time I've bought a size ahead but I felt like I needed a motivator. It's odd how it's my belly keeping me from fitting into smaller clothes now, it was never like that before... always my big thighs but that running stuff sure has reshaped my legs!
Ok ok, I'm out of time. Have a great day everyone!

Dixiemae 01-05-2010 09:10 AM

Thanks jellofer2~I lost a chunk of weight and was so thrilled. I thought I would sail through the 60's decade and get stuck in the 50's. I forgot to be patient. I am too eager for results. Im active enough but may not be getting the calories I need. I will check in with sparkpeople and track calories there. I think it was Tummy that uses that sight. Thanks for the heads up jello I need it. I don't need to get discouraged now. I have lab work coming up next month and need to keep my nose to the grind stone! I hope you ace the challenge at work. $150 is a motivator and you can do it. Let us know how it is going.

RockyMtnGirl 01-05-2010 09:32 AM

Good Morning Girls!
I'm down to 137, so that means 12lbs more to go this month!
I try to do 1200 calories a day, and yesterday I somehow only hit 1000, I know one day wont kick your body into starvation mode... but if I continually hit 1000 for more than a couple days will it kick into starvation mode at 1000 calories?

Gekster: I always keep my fridge stocked with veggies and fruits, things I can grab quickly and eat and it helps me so much! Yummy! I also have a love of tomatoes and I keep those to eat like apples, lol.

LaurenA: Dropping 5lbs this month is something you can definitely do and then you'll wont have to thing about that holiday weight ever again!

dollypie 01-05-2010 09:42 AM

Good Morning Everyone,

Well two days in a row and I made it to the gym, not to mention we were not running late for drop off and I didn't forget anything. I even remembered by healthy snacks and all. Now I need to stick to plan today!

hotstuff 01-05-2010 10:49 AM

I'm down! OK, most of it is water and salt weight, but I'm down!!! Still waiting for my ticker to be active but I've taken off my holiday weight from 177 to my pre-holiday weight of 173 and now to 171.6 this morning! On top of it all, I was told yesterday by my chriopractor that I have sacriliac joint dysfunction - basically I overstretched the muscles near my pelvic bone. So, counting calories and eating a balanced meal has been super important!

Congrats to everyone who's doing well right now and I hope you all are getting rid of your holiday weights!

Bigmid 01-05-2010 11:06 AM

Morning all, wow some great results for some of you already WTG so early in the month. I only weigh in once a week, I think I could become obsessed or depressed if I stepped on the scale everyday. I had a good OP day yesterday and now I need to get my butt in gear and start back with the exercising.
Shrinking Girl - you should totally try the other bathroom and just see how much it adds to your workout....LOL

Ms Perception 01-05-2010 11:10 AM

Wow, ladies! So many are doing so well!! Don't be discouraged if you're not yet. It will come! Perserverance is the key.

I am SORE today from my new ST'ing which is awesome. Now I know it's working me nicely. Today is a busy day, so this is just a fly-by post to say howdy and I'm reading and keeping up with everyone. Keep up the healthy choices!

jellofer2 01-05-2010 11:38 AM

Good morning ladies.

Ok 240.6 today. down 2 from yesterday. Woohoo!!! Had a great therapy workout today. All hams, abs and glutes. My hiney is lookin better. :) Then the elliptical. Talked to the trainer about the challenge at the job and we are already planning. I want to win it. Healthy, but still win it. This is an awesome motivator for me!!!! Also working on getting sponsors for the 3 for 3 5K that my therapy gym is sponsoring. So things are good. Grandma is doing well. Got her to rehab last night. Off to see her today. School strated again last night. We are learning joint mobilizations. It is really great stuff. And just the additional workout that I may need to reach my goal this month. 228 i see you. I figure to win this challenge at work, I need to drop at least 10% of my current body weight. Which when I am POP I can do with minimal difficulty. So we shall see. I will keep you all posted. The big weighin is tomorrow.

Diximae---Glad to hear that I can help. It only takes a few days of not enough calories and lots of exercise to put your body into a mode where it wont let go of the weight. It really does take patience. Ihave been maintaining at or near this same weight since NOvember. But I do know that all of my STing and Cardio are working, because my clothes just seem to keep getting bigger. :) You can do it!!!!

mystical 01-05-2010 03:06 PM

jellofer2 Great job on the 2lb loss, you sound so motivated. Send some my way will ya? LOL... :cheer2:

Ms Perception "Perserverance is the key" thanks for reminding me. I don't know what I would do without you... You keep me grounded to never give up on myself... you are the best. Great job on the ST.

hotstuff :yay: You are doing so well keep up the good work!

dollypie Way to go! Gym, healthy snacks. You are doing great. :bravo:

RockyMtnGirl Tomatoes, I never though about eating tomatoes like that and I really love them... thanks, I am going to give them a try for my grab snack bin... Keep the great ideas for snacks coming I love seeing what others are eating. :carrot:

Dixiemae No worries I am one of those people that lose slowly... I lost 10 lbs my first month and then I after that it was up and down and then only a small amount at a time but I am hanging in there I know one day I will reach my goal... with all of you here to support me and lots of :dust:

Shrinking Girl You are doing so well... Glad to hear all the good stuff. By the way how much running a day do you do? I so hope one day that I can run a marathon, but right now there is now way. That is one of the goals I want to be able to complete in the next year or two. Hope you have a great day!

As for me things have been so busy... After the holidays we are not working on finishing our basement so we have wood everywhere. It will be so nice when things are completed.... It is cold, and lots of snow on the ground so I really don't want to do much today but I have managed to get all the dusting, and all the laundry completed. It has been TOM and I have just been very cranky this week, although I am getting excited about Saturday my dietician is coming to the house to meet with me and set down and work out a menu that will work best for our lifestyle, we are back at the gym trying to get back on a routine so things are looking up for this year. Thanks for all your support.. I'll check in again soon.... Have a great day everyone!!!!

RockyMtnGirl 01-05-2010 03:28 PM

Mystical: Or grab those grape tomatoes, those are so easy to throw in a bag and take to work, or on the go! I love those too!

christies6pack 01-05-2010 07:49 PM

Can I join?
I am still learning and figuring out things on this site, but I need a place to be with some support.

I really want to loose 10lbs this month, I am on my way with 2 down so far.
I am a busy mom of 6 and my goal is to start exercising 6 days a week again. So, here's to a great January. I am excited to get to know you all. So many motovating stories!!

jellofer2 01-05-2010 10:26 PM

Mystical--- here is some motivation coming your way!!!! You can do it!!

Christies6pack--- welcome. You can lose 10lbs this month! best dishes to you!

Good meeting with the doctor. Didn't start out so well. I was almost ready to cry. But then we got it all straight and now I am good. Sticking with 60 grams of carbs per day. So that will be could!!!

princess2323 01-06-2010 01:02 AM

scale is looking good...its at least going in the right dirrection...155.6 today ...lets keep up the good work everyone

Shrinking Girl 01-06-2010 07:42 AM

Hello Everyone!

RockyMtnGirl You know, I don't have any advice about starvation mode. I've always tried to get between 1500-1800 calories, usually bordering on the higher end of that as I've wanted to maintain as much muscle mass as possible and avoid hurting my metabolism. Someone else here might know though. Congrats on the loss!

hotstuff Congrats on taking off that holiday weight! Bad news about the overstretched muscles, it sounds like it might be painful. :( I hope it feels better very quickly!

Bigmid Haha, yeah, it's easy to become obsessed with the scale. I remember way back when I first started I only checked my weight at my monthly weigh-in at Curves. That went out the window after 2 months and now I step on the scale a lot. It does keep me motivated though and it also helps me see trends...so it's not ALL evil.

Msp Ahh the feeling of sore muscles after a new work out... such a great thing. Glad it's workin for ya!

jellofer You are totally gonna rock this challenge. I'm glad to hear your grandmother is better.

mystical I currently run 3 days/week and when I run I do anywhere from 1.5 miles to 4 miles... depending upon the day. I plan to slowly increase that upper end while working on my speed as well since I'm a slooow runner.

christies6pack You sure can join! Welcome!

Well, the scale held at 182.8 this morning so that makes my 183 official which feels fantastic. Managing to maintain the second half of December was great and all but I was beginning to get worried that I'd forgotten how to lose weight. It's good to feel back on track. I'm so close to my original goal right now I could squeal.
People at work continue to suddenly notice I've lost weight although the two people I work most closely with still have said absolutely nothing...so odd, but I get that it can be awkward and stuff. I just thought that, of all the people I work with, they'd be the most comfortable saying anything but oh well.
I hope everyone has a great day! If you're living in an area that's cold stay warm! And if you're expecting snow like we are here, be careful!!

And Sandye please come back, we miss you!!!

Hi All

Can I please be added to the list??

Goal for this month = Onderland! *again*

Oh and down 2.5lbs this week already *woot woot*

nellonello 01-06-2010 09:56 AM

Now that I am back to working out I think I am retaining a lot of water. Up a pound so far and have been POP. Will have to up my water intake to flush all this icky stuff out!

Ms Perception 01-06-2010 10:03 AM

Okay, newest people to sign-up have been added to the magical list. I'm glad to see the excitement and support this thread is "famous" for. :D You girls are AWESOME!

SG-Glad that lower number stuck for ya! Kudos on the continued progress and resulting compliments!!

princess2323-Always good when the scale goes in the right direction!! Keep it up!

jellofer-Why the tears at the dr.? Glad you're feeling energized to begin the year! You're making great progress. You can make this goal, girl!

mystical-You're too kind! Only a few more days 'til the dietician comes! Are you making a list of questions? Have you done meal planning much in the past so they can look yours over? Or are they just doing a sample one for you? I'm just curious b/c I think it's a SUPER cool thing that you're doing. Any new information helps, right? Congrats on being back to the gym routine, too!

This morning I am SO happy to report I was POP yesterday and finally got down to my revised ticker weight (and therefore, have made progress toward getting back to pre-Christmas lowest weight). I plan to continue having OP days and keeping with my good food habits. I do feel like I need a nap as I recover from this sickness though (it's definitely on it's way out). I'm not sure when, but I'd love to at least rest at some point today. Anyway, here's to a day of healthy choices!

Ms Perception 01-06-2010 11:44 AM

Goal List FYI-for those newer to the monthly challenges, I post the health/weight goals on the list on this thread. We have a "sister" thread called the January Exercise Challenge where exercise goals and progress are listed. Signing up for one or both is up to each person. I just wanted to explain why exercise goals were left off the goal list here. Thanks! :)

shea5 01-06-2010 12:08 PM

Ok, My name is Meredith, and I'm a scale addict

I know I need to get on only 1 time a week, but especially during the 1st week I have a lot of problems with that. So I snuck on again this morning, and I'm down to 250.8, about 1/2 way to my January goal. :carrot: I am very excited :)

nellonello - sometimes that happens when you first start exercising; hang in there

Ms Perception - great job getting back to your ticker weight; it's never fun going over  Keep up the great work!

mystical 01-06-2010 01:36 PM

shea5 I use to be the same way with the scale but thank goodness I am finally on a routine and every Saturday morning I weigh in. I must say my hubby helped me with that one. Every morning I would be thinking of weighing my self and he would say now you know it isn't saturday.. LOL he is my biggest support.

Ms Perception I am really not sure what to expect from the dietician. I am going to show her my meal plan and see what changes she has for me. She wants to meet the entire family this time but after it will be me since I do all the cooking. I am really not sure what to ask I am just lost do you any suggestion for me? I just can't seem to think of things that I always want to know. I will be meeting with her once a month to check in and make any changes that we need to. Wish me luck :)

nellonello I know what you mean. With all the holidays I am upping my water intake trying to flush out my system... Keep up the good work.

LaurenA  great job on the weightloss :dancer: You are off to a great start...

BrainBabiesBe :welcome: It's never to late :)

Shrinking Girl Thanks, I have had to start all over again. A few years ago I was so good and I went to the gym everyday. I ran at least 5 days a week and then we had a big change in life. I moved from Arkansas to Ontario, Canada and just got well "lazy" I suppose LOL. I had gotten down to 180 lbs and now I am back up to 216 so it is a new beginning once again for me. I have started back on the treadmill and eliptical for 20 minutes and I do 15 min of st. I am also starting the EA Active 3 days a week or when I can't get to the gym along with the new dietician I am hoping to see some great changes this month. I will keep you posted on how things go :)

princess2323 Good job :woohoo:

jellofer2 Thank you so much. I really needed that :) I am sending some right back at you... So lets keep this going and help each other out ! :cheer2::cheer3::cheer2:

As for me it is a great day. We finished one wall and the shelves in the basement and now my husband is working on my area for my scrapbooking. Hopefully we will have it finished by this weekend and be able to get things back in order. Life is great I have the best support system here (my husband) he is going through this jounrey with me... I am so lucky to have my best friend as my husband. With the great support at home and here on the boards I am sure this will be a great year for me. I have around 80 lbs to lose and my birthday is in September do you think I could reach my goal by then? That is what I am hoping for. If I ever get down please give me a :kickbutt: or a :frypan: as needed LOL You ladies are doing a great job keep up the good work. I'll check in with you soon.

Tummy and Sandye I sure miss you ladies !
