Hey girls. Well, I did three miles on the treadmill.. no weights today. I think it was pretty good considering I haven't gone in a long time.
Lindy- I think I will stick to mornings for now on too. I don't like going when there's a ton of people. I'm gonna keep at it though. I go back to work next tuesday so I figure I'll go atleast on all my off days. I will keep you posted about my lunch tomorrow. haha I have found that I have been eating the same thing everyday. I need to spice it up. I just hate buying a ton of stuff for just one meal.Does anyone have any simple recipe ideas (like fewest ingredients possible)? dancer- Thanks. I didn't even think to look at it that way. But yeah.. we're training together in a way. =) AJ-Congrats! That is awesome! I can't wait to be where you are.. again. It's been a while! |
Busy, busy board - Hello!
AJ - Congratulations on the pounds lost. You are doing awesome! 160 here you come! Neesy - Big kudo's for making lifestyle changes so you do stay on track and save money! I am sucker for buttered popcorn at the moves with peanut M & M's throughout the popcorn - REALLY BAD! Sounds like you are definitely focused and your husband is going to be shocked when he see's you. Hey, does Army.com have day by day viewing of what he is doing? The Navy.com does. Its shows week to week boat camp and what they are doing. Just curious. Lindy - I have never tried Suishi, but love seafood, so I probably would love it. Hope your ab class goes good tonight. Oh and the keggle thing Dance mentioned - it is true and does makes things great......;-) lol Ok, today I ate alittle more earlier, which of course means I will be starving later, because I am already hungry now! So, I am hitting the pool to stay busy and allow myself something lite when I get out. So hopefully I won't be whinning later......LOL Two days and weigh in!!! |
Ok...quick update and then Im going into a coma like state after my darn abs class...lol. Did abds class...little did I know its 45 minutes hard cardio with 80% lunges...grrrr...if there is anything I hate more, its lunges! So then I thought to myself...15 minutes of abs...no problem....HA!!! HA-HA-HA! Usually you are supposed to feel your workout the next day, Im pretty sure its a bad thing that I am feeling it at 830 at night and the class ended at 645, lol. God help me tomorrow.
Neesy - awesome, 3 miles-good job girly. Sounds like you are on track. Ok, I have been eating for 1 for the past 3 weeks and I have a TON of ideas for you: I usually go to the store and buy individual filets and freeze them. My fav. is tilapia because its cheap and not to fishy. Then I switch it up, with mango salsa as a topping, or parmessan cheese on top, or just a little lemon and pepper. Any which way...its delicious Also, lets not forget our favorite...rotisserie chicken. Divide into individual portions when you first get it, then mix it up each day. Ie: black beans with chicken and salsa, mixed together. Or chicken with squash, gosh..there are a million ways to do chicken. Subway sub...another favorite. I get the five dolla foot looonnngg, lol. THen separate it into 2 portions. Sometimes, 3 egg whites with 2 pieces of turkey bacon on whole wheat toasted bread. And I ALWAYS make my own veggie tray each week. Where I get cherry tomatoes, snap peas, carrots, broccoli and celery. CLean it and put it in different containers and like for tonight....I opened them all up and had a feast. Hope that helps. I have so many more I can give you but you get the gist. And none of these meals takes more than 30 minutes to cook, prepare time is 10 at most. Mygrits - how was your swim? I love to do laps but we only have a community pool and with good intention in mind, I get down there and there is just too many people going back and forth, so I cant do laps. I supposed I could do them at LA Fitness, as my gym does have a lap pool but some GENIUS thought it would be a good idea to put the pool at the main entrance and make it GLASS WALLS!!! So, not only can every member in the gym see you as they come and go but everyone in the flippin shopping plaza that walks by can also see you....im brave in my bikini, but not that brain, not in the environnment! Ok...going to bed. If I dont log in tomorrow its because I died from my darn ab workout, lol. |
Lindy - You are so funny sometime - Glass Walls.......yes genius! I don't blame you there! My pool is also a community pool. I mean I live in a house, in a neighborhood, but we have a fenced in pool, tennis courts, Club House and all. The pool is 3 doors down from where I live, so it is really close. I am on a large pond/lake (whatever it is) and the pool is next to that. Our is empty alot, as this neighborhood has a lot of 'wealthier, older folks' that have their own pools, so there is only a few of us that use this one. Good for us! Anyway.......gosh I rambled didn't I? I took my husband with me, and I swam a ton of laps, did push ups, and more. I was pooped. He did some exercises too - yeah! So now I just need to be good the rest of the night.
Oh Lindy love the Mango Salsa idea, where did you get it, Publix? I have never seen it before, but I looovvveee Mangos!! Ok, I am off here for the night. Check in tomorrow after my workout.......ugh! |
I did well today food-wise. I had fruit and low-fat yogurt with a bit of granola. (If you haven't tried the "Bare Naked" fruit and nut granola...you are missing out! So good) Lunch was a salad, and dinner was California veggies and a turkey burger with no bun. Everything was filling for me. For a mid-afternoon snack I had some fresh veggies. No sugar, no coffee, etc. etc. My only downfall is Diet Dr. Pepper...love that stuff.
Well, I was going to go to the gym tonight and decided to pass. I went last night, and I'm going first thing tomorrow morning, so I am going to stay home and clean/do laundry. I really haven't seen the hubby all week with workouts, etc. so I think I need to stay home. Plus, I've been to the gym 3 days so far this week, and I'm going Sat and Sun. I think I deserve a night off. Of course, if I get on the scale and don't lose on Sunday, I will be kicking myself in the butt for not going. Have a great weekend! |
Ok...its ok folks....Im alive and kicking, lol. Whew...I slept like a rock last night. Ya know what I notice, I am at about 12 cups of water a day and now that I consume that much on a regular basis, I go to the bathroom but not nearly as much as I should. Maybe this is because Im doing more work out wise? Things that make you go hmmmm....
Maddiesmom- of course you need a day off. I never go to the gym on Saturday or Sundays. Now I do exercise at home on Saturday but Sunday is a total relaxation day. No exercise at all, well...I guess that will change this Sunday because I want to see what the results of the 30 DS is if I do it for 30 days straight. I will gladly keep doing it and take "after" pictures just for the 30DS so you guys can see if it is as great as they make it out to be. Fingers crossed. Mygrits - nice on the pool front and that is fantastic news that Bubba also exercised. This may be your gateway? If you cant change his eating habits, change his exercise habits. Push-ups huh? Ugh...I hate push ups but man, I can see a different in my shoulders already since Ive been doing them for a week. Keep up the good work. You and Burgundy are so funny on Facebook...you may want to check my reply, lol. ;) The mango salsa I get from Publix its in the "fresh" salsa section, usually by the deli area, with cheese and stuff, I imagine your Publix has somewhat of the same layout. Its great on fish and chicken and such a kick of flavor, love this stuff! Oh...Back2Basics...was it you that was asking what protein bar I eat? Anyway, its called Detour Protein Bar. It has 15g of protein per serving, its only 170 calories a bar and the one I buy tastes almost exactly like at Snicker bar, sooooo....good. I sometimes want to eat 2 a day but I limit myself to one. I am going to BJ's today to see if they sell them, or one like them because they are kinda expensive. Like $7 for 6 bars. Well...thats expensive for me. Ok, got my morning run in, it was invigorating. Im going to do 30DS this morning becacuse tonight I will be driving to Ft. Myers to pick up my monkey girl, lol...cant wait! Im off to the farmers market after my workout and then I will be poolside all day long until I leave at 3 p.m. NICE! And...did I mention my house is clean and the yard is done. God, I couldnt ask for a more perfect weekend. :) |
Basics-your meals sound yummy, you are doing so good.
Dance-I know, this group keeps me from doing a lot of things. Last night I was going to have a snack before 8, but went walking earlier than I had planned. I was going to eat a plum and my SIL was like just have it, its just a plum. But I did not do it. It was after 8 and I will not eat after that. You will def. see a drop on the scale Sunday. I hope we all do. Lindy-sorry your hormones were out of whack but glad you are feeling better now. I chew gum all the time, I keep some in the truck and in the house all the time. Keep me from getting something if we are out and my husband runs through McDonalds or somewhere. Today will be day 9 of 30ds, I have seen a little difference in some clothes. I have a pair of pants that dont have to be unbuttoned to pull them down now. YAY. You are rocking, I need to kick up my workouts and get up to your speed. Sandy-glad you are getting your workouts in but watch that heat. Hope the munchies didnt take over since you ate early last night Neesy-good idea "training" along side your husband, he is going to be impressed when he sees you at graduation. Great job doing 3 miles. AJ-2lbs, woohoo. You are gonna be at goal in no time. Maddiesmom-sounds like a day off from the gym is needed, I am sure you will see a drop sunday even taking a day off. You will burn calories cleaning too Ok, so I was thinking we should all post how much weight we have lost so far and add them all togerher to see, as a group, how much we have lost together. I have lost 16lbs so far. I dont know if I will be able to check in later, gotta work later. I will get my workout in before the boys get here though!! I wanted to go for a bike ride today but of course its gonna rain all day. Oh well, I will do something inside. |
Maddiesmom - you DO need to relaxation, plus that helps kick in your metabolism when you workout again. Keep changing it up and your body doesn't get complacent. You meals sound perfect too!
Lindy - LOL.....yes FB.....LOL....we tried to sabotage....have to think of a different strategy! The pool was nice and I am thinking about going again tonight for that last 'kick' before the weigh-in. Thanks for the Salsa info. I never go over that way, so it's probably why I haven't seen it - duh! Hope your trip is good today. Burgund - Way to go on the 30DS. I have to hand it to you for sticking to that. I was never one that could commit to inhome cardio on the TV. I tried so many times, but just gave up. I remember years ago buying the Tae-Bo videos and did it for a week, and that was the end of that! Ok, got my 2 miles in this morning and am wiped! I better have lost a ton of weight this week, after workouts, not snacking at night, swimming at night ...my body better lose!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm an going to shower and relax, then I need to go to the store......Have a great afternoon all! Weigh-In Tomorrow!! |
AJ - how was your wild and crazy night out? Hope you had fun!
Neesy - good for you on the workout! My quickest and easiest recipe idea is chicken breasts baked in your favorite salsa (regular, green, peach, mango - you name it) - just put the chicken in the dish, cover with salsa and bake for around 30 min. Tastes more complicated than it is : ) Lindy - wow on the abs class - you go, girl! Too funny about the glass walls - wouldn't be my favorite either : ) mygrits - way to go on the laps! I've never been much of a swimmer for exercise so I especially admire people who do it voluntarily. maddiesmom - a rest and recovery day is perfectly all right! And I'm right there with you on the weakness for diet sodas - my latest kick is diet root beer for some reason - it tastes like dessert. burgundy - you are doing great!! Things are pretty good here as the scale is down another pound which is two for this week so I'm off my plateau, thank god! Ate a little too much yesterday - major protein cravings which is not normal for me at all but a little extra light string cheese probably won't kill me : ) Heading out for a run in a bit to make up for it. Hugs to all my girls - you guys are the best. So glad we're doing this together!!! |
My Grits- Hilarious---I only wish I had a personal chef to cook for me!! I just chopped up a bunch of veggies on Sunday and then I sit and try to figure out how the heck I can change up how to eat them.
Lindy- Ahhhg, I have to cover my eyes each time you say sushi. That is a downfall for me. Oh, how I love me some of that goodness all rolled into a glob of rice. But, that 30DS sounds fantastic—20 lbs in 30 days would be awesome! And thanks for the 411 on the kind of bars you eat…I am going to give those a try. AJ- hope you had fun going out last night… but, why haven’t you been out in public in a year?? Burgundy- Wow—good resistance on not eating after 8, even for a plum!! I need to start paying attention to doing that as well. MaddiesMom- I love BearNaked….so tastey and the name gives me the giggles each time. Dance- Congrats on another pound down!! I love moving away from plateaus :D My daughter and I just got back from the Farmers Market… I picked up the usual suspects, but this time I added beets to the mix and we’ll see what kind of goodness we can make from that. Well, since I’m on a roll and I don’t want to fade out…I’ve put a mini-goal out there to run my first 5K on Halloween(it’s called Monster Dash and you can wear a costume). I told some friends about it yesterday and now about 6 of them are going to run it with me—I love my friends! Tomorrow I start the C25K (Couch to 5K) since I am not in running shape… kind of fun that the timing of the race is the day before the end of our weight loss goals. :jig: Okay- I have another day on the burn circuit on ChaLean that I need to get to right now. Oh yeah, someone asked what that is…it’s called ChaLean Extreme and it’s a 90 day circuit training that involves free weights :carrot: and lots of squats and push-ups. It changes circuits every 30 days so your body doesn’t become use to the cycle. |
Hey All!!
Dancer- 2 lbs!! We are having twin weeks. Even a little bit helps motivate. Back2basics- I love farmers markets! No one will go with me but they are my fav. I haven't gone out in forever because as I gained more and more weight I wanted every one to remember me when I was skinny. I am so affraid of seeing someone and them asying "Look how big she is now". I worked in the bars not partied... in case I sound like a drunk. =) Lindy- I didn't go out. I wussed out last minute. Story of my life. Its okay, girls movie night tonight!! ADD YOURS! List of buddies weight lost so far/Total: Burgundy-16lbs so far AJ- 13lbs Total= 29lbs!! |
Hello everyone! I had lunch out with my aunt today.. I was sooo good. I got grilled chicken salad, no cheese with low fat dressing. No dessert. We went to this family reunion type thing where there was fried chicken and a ton of desserts. I didn't have anything. So proud of myself today. I did a lot of walking today and it was a very hot day. Can't wait to see the results tomorrow. Oh ... my cousin (whom I've never seen before today).. she's 57years old.. but looks in her 30s. She ran 17 miles today. She goes out of town all the time to do various marathons. WOW. I would love to do that one day.
Anyway, in other news.. I got my first phone call from my husband last night. I really needed it. I think it gave me the strength to be good today. I just keep imagining myself at graduation and surprising him. I can't wait. Oh what motivation will do. Lindy- You are so motivated! You have gotten a lot accomplished. You go girl! Thanks for the meal ideas. It's got my mind working=) Grits- The army has something similar on their website. It goes my phases. They have a red phase, white phase, and blue phase each 3 wks long. They have videos showing what they do in each. So it is pretty neat. I can follow along and see what he is doing week to week. Dancer- YAY for breaking your plateau! It can be so frustrating sometimes. I stopped really dieting a few months ago because I didn't see a loss. I can't think that way! and I'm glad you didn't! Way to go! AJ- I know the feeling. I sometimes avoid seeing people because I want to be thinner first. It is also a source of motivation. I know I will see a bunch of family at my husband's graduation in October.. so I want to impress them almost as much as my husband. I can't help it. |
Neesy- I really hope you get that satisfaction. I am sure you can do it by October! Kick its butt.
So get this! I helped my mom host a garage sale at her house today. Her neighbor who I have not seen in prob 4 years, came over and ASKED ME WHEN I WAS EXPECTING because her friend is selling baby stuff and it LOOKS like I NEED IT!. OMG OMG OMG this is one of the hardest days ever. I have lost friggin 13lbs nad I still look preggo. Grrrr. Not a motivating day. |
Hi Ladies!
Man all of your are doing sooooo good, I can't wait to see results tomorrow! Just think one week is down towards our November 1st finish date! Yes! Today has been good, and my calories are at 1400, with a 2 mile jog/walk. I also might add laps in there, I am debating on swimming some shortly to burn off more calories before weigh-in tomorrow. The reason is Tom said 'hello' today. Neesy - I am sooo glad your husband called today, I know that was a special surprise. I am so proud of you sticking to your foods and workouts. You are doing awesome!!! Basics - You sound like you have some very supportive girlfriends - that says alot about you!! Beets hmmmmmmm I never liked them and then ate some cooked about two weeks ago and yummm, they were really good. I may have to buy some myself. Let me know how you prepare them. AJ - I can so relate. When I was younger I used to avoid going out, party's and all because I felt so inferior to others and thought they would judge me on my weight and looks. I wish now I had gone out more. I realized that is what I was thinking about myself, that they weren't thinking it. I missed out on some good times and memories. If someone did 'think' something, who cares. That is their own shortcomings and an insecurities showing. Meaning they have to bring you down to make themselves feel better - So sad for them! Hold your head high and be proud of the awesome person you are! Dance - Congratulations, your kicking butt! I love all the salsa's you mentioned. I may have to go on a salsa shopping trip, after hearing you and Lindy talked about them. Yumm, salsa with chicken, fish, chips, with rice, taco's and more! Wow, I could have a salsa diet! Thanks! Ok, I'm off here, but will check in later. |
Wow! Usually on the weekends I see you girls drop off, not this time...thats awesome girls. EVERYONE better weigh in tomorrow, NO EXCUSES. To be honest I know for a fact that I did great this week, absolutely no slip ups yet when I went to get dressed today, some of my clothes felt WAY TOO TIGHT...I dont know what the heck is up with that, but I will report my numbers no matter what.
AJ- OMG! Are you freakin serious about the preggers thing?! That sucks, thats sucks soooo bad. That has happened to me so many freakin times, its sickening when it happens. Awww...big HUG, dont let it get you down. Maybe it was what you were wearing. Sometimes the skinniest people can put on the wrong outfit and bam! instant belly bump, I mean...look at all the movie stars that are supposedly pregnanant...just keep that in mind. Mygrits- good deal on the swim. Lets get you through tonight with no munching, even with TOM. Just imagine me...doing my happy dance in front of you...lol...frustrated yet? lol. Lookin forward to seeing your numbers, I am confident you can do this. Neesy - I am soooo proud of you, you overcame some major obstacles today and hopefully the scale will thank you tomorrow. Gosh..I cant WAIT to wake up tomorrow. Back2Basics - 5k...great mini goal. I think I am going to look into your ChaLean Extreme. Although right now I have my hands full with running 7 days a week, 30DS 7 days a week and gym 5 days a week. Dont you just love going to the farmers market? I do! I picked up something out of the norm for me too, sugar snap peas, I washed them and ate them raw and really enjoyed it. I read an article on how eating raw veggies helps boost your metabolism...I guess we will see. Dance - how did you hold up today with your protein cravings? I couldnt agree more that without this group, I would have fallen flat many months ago - so thank you girls! Ok...I just got back from picking up my Gabadoo....yay! So happy, Ive missed her so much. She kinda sleepy and a bit cranky but ill take it - lol. Im suffering from some hunger pangs tonight so I am going to call it a night early, I can screw up tonight of all nights, tomorrow is weigh in. OH - burgundy, I have lost 35 pounds as of today- so that brings the total too: Burgundy-16lbs so far AJ- 13lbs Lindy - 35 Total= 64lbs!! Ok....I will see all of you tomorrow! |
