  • Addicted to french fries? You are not alone.

My name is sweetshauna, and I am a french fry addict.

I've challenged myself to stay off french fries for six months (six months!!!)

Can I do it? We'll see...

Anyway, for all you other french fry addicts that really want to kick the habit, sign up for the French Fry Challenge.

Just state you're time-goal (one month, six months, one year, etc).

And if you fall of the wagon one friday when you took the kids to Micky D's, don't worry, we're here for you
  • I'm a french fry addict, trying to NOT do that or fast food. Six months! I'd like to make it six months without a single greasy fry. I attribute some weight gain to fries and fast food junk.
  • Sounds like a good plan. I used to be so addicted to them, but I've only eaten them a few times since this summer, and always in moderation. Good luck!
  • Just wanted to wish good luck to everyone...I think that I may be one of the few people in the world who absolutely hates french fries.

You know, once just the smell of McDonald's french fries made me throw up - of course I did have a concussion at the time, and my brother just HAD to have the fries.
  • I'm a recovering french fry addict, been off them since November 7 according to my food journal. It would be nice to make it 6 month. I am in awe of people who don't love McD fries I don't know that I'll ever stop wanting them but I'm going strong for now.
  • Hi, I am a french fry addict. I have been good for a few weeks now. It is hard because my BF is also an addict and he is constantly eating them. I honestly can't lose weight while eating french fries, they are easily 500 calories, sometimes even 800 calories -- and I simply don't have the calories to spend on them. I like this thread, just what I need.
  • How about substituting the orange fries for the regular ones? The sweet potato fries? You cut them up, add spices and put them in the oven. Are we on strike from those too? Actually I picked up one of the latest Eat This Not That book, for Grocery Shopping, and it said the bags of precut orange fries are a "not" and I don't know why really. Instead the author chose frozen regular cut up potatoes. I thought these were diet friendly. Guess I'll cut up my own sweet potatoes then... and will read the label.
  • Rosy Radish Home Fries
    Good idea horsey.

I'm on Atkins so I can't have potatoes of any variety for a LONG LONG time. However, I'm going to try this recipe in a couple weeks:
    http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/radish_home_fries.html

Its for "ROSY RADISH HOME FRIES "
  • I'm not a french fry addict so much as I am a potato addict. I know I can't give them up.

Good luck to all you Chicks on this!
  • Love McDonalds french fries. Six months? Okay, starting date January 11, 2009. Good luck everyone on this challenge.
  • Hello, my name is Mandy, and I am French Fry addict. I couldn't not go 6 months, I do try to go longer than a week though. I really like potatoes, mashed, french fried, au gratin,,,ect. I have made the choice to stick to fries at home that I bake in the oven
  • Is it wrong that every time I see this thread I want to have french fries?
  • Happy to report that I have still not ate one french fry. Actually, they are becoming a turn off now because I am beginning to see them as calorie monsters now....
  • Kelly, I don't know about wrong but me too. Im going to go get some celery now.
  • Quote: Happy to report that I have still not ate one french fry. Actually, they are becoming a turn off now because I am beginning to see them as calorie monsters now....
