That's what counts! I mean, really, it doesn't make any sense that different people will all progress at exactly the same rate .;)

I did Week 5 Day 2 today. Wow! I ran ... err, shuffled ... for 8 minutes straight! Twice! Well, almost, because on the second run I had to walk out some knee pain for a bit. It didn't feel as good as last week, I seem to be off in general this week, but I'll take it :carrot:. I suuuuure hope 20 minutes is doable on Friday. Scary.

mountain mama 09-17-2008 01:34 PM

Good for you Julie! haha shuffling.. don't know I it! hehe

I did week 4 day 2 yesterday. i feel good.. ven though a lot of shuffling occured.. i did it, even though I was tempted to stop on various occasions!

Thank you, Fauxtini. It was wonderful! Congratulations on yours, too! It's so exciting, isn't it?

Week 5 day 2 done, Whoo!

Kofarq 09-19-2008 09:10 PM

Week 5 Day 3 done today. It's getting easier every time I go. This time I jogged for about 6 minutes one time before I realized, Hey, I usually have to stop way back there! Instead of just alternating between walking quickly and jogging slowishly, I kick it up by doing mini-sprints now and then, and jogging a little up hill. And I'm usually gone for about 45 minutes.
I know I'm not following the rules, but I'm having fun. And tomorrow I'm going to drive to a running track and do the c25k properly, and make sure I'm keeping up for reals!
I AM a Runner!

mountain mama 09-19-2008 09:35 PM

Kofarg: im sp happy to hear how stoked you are about running! I just finished week four today and I hear ya! It just feels good! Im still super slow.. but i just suprise myself sometimes when the time goes by and im like.. uh.. oh.. i shoudl stop now!

My legs burn.. but it's like when i start jogging it hurts lots and by the second interval it's not a big deal anymore.. i guess it's all about getting over the hump! hehe

Anyway! kudos to everyone stil plugging away at the c25k.. slow and steady wins the race!! :)

JulieJ08 09-19-2008 10:32 PM

I did Week 5 Day 3 too. Wow! I can't believe I ran for 20 minutes :D :carrot:

Kofarq 09-21-2008 03:43 PM

I did W6 D1, slowly, though. Head cold. Bleuch.

mountain mama 09-21-2008 04:04 PM

ug.. hope you start feeling better soon, Kori! Lots of water and jogging oughta get all those toxins out of your system quick! hehe Thinking of you!

I just finished week 5, day 1 today! On the second set of five mins I got in a daze and jogged for 6 mins instead of 5! hehe I never thought the day would come when I wasn't staring at my ipod stopwatch waiting for the exact second when I could walk again! hehe Im psyched for day 2!

Melissa!! Where are you? i missssss you!!!!!!!

LOL, I went 1 extra minute on Friday too - it was W5D3 - the 20 minute run. Actually, I wasn't happy about it because I get knee pain in the last few minutes, and I pushed (and somewhat risked) myself a little unnecessarily. But I seem to be OK :D.

mountain mama 09-21-2008 05:58 PM

hahah.. well im glad you are ok! We need to be carefull with our knees! im nervous/excited for the 20 min jog! ahh! hehe

McKenziesmomma 09-21-2008 07:58 PM

here I am...

I don't know...my legs burn (calves and shins) really really bad. So far week 4 I can handle fine...but the second 5 min interval on week 5 I just can't do! I know I shouldn't say can't....but my legs hurt bad! I have noticed when I walk I kind of hit the insides of my feet ...if that makes any sense...I think I need new shoes that are specially made for my feet...but I can't afford it!

I think I'm just gonna sit at week 4 for a little bit....I have to worry about getting regular exercise back into my cram packed schedule before I worry about progressing....you know what I mean!

If I don't fix something soon I'm gonna gain all the weight I have lost back!

I don't want that :(

Stick at Week 4 as long as you need to. Who cares? You might even want to back off a bit to whatever day you didn't have that pain. Your body needs what it needs.

If you are pronating (turning the foot in at the forefoot) you want a shoe with a strong support at the middle of the inner side of the shoe. Look for an inset of a different color in the sole, and it shouldn't bend at that point (it's ok to bend at the forefoot, further forward).
